How to make a solid increase in the profitability of your milling operations. In your milling department, it's the speed and precision with which you remove metal that con­trols profitability. And no milling machines in this class on the market today can hog metal quicker and more precisely than the DoALL line.

Designed to use carbide tooling. Many shops can­not take full advantage of the productivity in· creases that can be obtained on many jobs by us­ing carbide tooling. If you try to use carbide tools on the typical milling machines in this size range, they are apt to chip because the machines do not have the necessary usable horsepower to operate a 2- or 3-in. carbide face mill , for example. Nor do they have the rigidity you need to maintain a fixed relationship between the tool and the workpiece.

With these latest DoALL machines, you have everything you need to operate carbide tools effi· ciently: machine mass, knee rigidity , big-power heavy-duty spindle motors and a large bearing sur­face area on all three axes.

On DoALL's machines, you also get an NS 40 taper in spindle versus a standard R8 on most com­petitive models. Plus hardened and ground spindle drive gears. This gives these DoALL milling machines three or four times the stability of the average machine in the head alone. Cutter stability is assured, even under severe climb milling condi· tions.

Power quill feed is standard. Power on all three axes (table, saddle and knee) is either standard or optional, depending on the model. With spindle speeds up to 4350 rpm available, you have all you need to drive a carbide tool at its maximum effi­cient rate. Furthermore, the cutting fluid system is standard on all models.

Five models to meet every shop requirement. There are now five machines in the DoALL line; the FV-1V, FV-2V, FV-4V vertical mills, the FVH-205 vertical/horizontal mill, and the 12-hp FV-128 bed mill.

The 3- and 4-hp models have a variable speed head. On the smaller mode ls, the multipurpose milling head pivots in bot h planes fo r angular cuts. A worm gear is provided to posi ti on the head, so that you no longer have to do it manually (usually a time-consuming two-man job).

If you 've always wanted a horizontal mill but never could afford the luxu;-y, ch eck out our Model FVH-205, which is rugged ly built to operate in either the vertical or the hori zontal plane.

DoALL Model FV-1V vertical milling machine

This 3-hp machine features a dual-range, variable-speed drive (60-490 rpm / 545-4350 rpm), 5-1 / 8-in. quill feed , 15-3/ 4-in. crossfeed and vertical head that pivots in both planes for angular milling . It of course has our massive construc­tion for superior cutter stabi lity, hardened-and-ground spin­dle gears, rigid turret assembly with full 360-degree swing, rack-and-pinion ram movement and worm gears for swivel­ing the head to ensure accurate angular positioning.

Except for its table size of 10 x 49 in. and center longitudinal handwheel , it comes equipped the same as the FV-2V and can be furnished with similar options, such as saddle and rapid traverse on the knee and factory-installed metric lead­screws and scales. Accessories include an all-angle attach­ment, right-angle and horizontal milling attachments. Like the FV-2V, this FV-1V is a good choice for continuous pro­duction applications, as well as general shop and school shop use.

DoALL Model FV-2V vertical milling machine

The FV-2V is a 3-hp machine with a 12- x 49-in . table and an infinitely variable speed drive providing speeds from 60 to 4350 rpm . The table movement on the longitudinal axis is a full 37-1 / 2 in. Cross traverse is 15-3/ 4 in. and the knee movesverticallythrough 17-5/8 in. Power feed for the saddle and rapid knee traverse are accessories. Power quill with 5-1 / 8-in . travel , NS 40 spindle taper and left/ right, front/ back swivel for angular milling are standard . Throat depth , spindle center to column, is 6-5/16-in. minimum and 31-1/2-in. maximum .

Longitudinal table feed, cutting fluid system, one-shot lubri­cation , drawbar, adjustable table travel stops and adjustable antibacklash nuts on both table and saddle are all standard A third longitudinal handwheel is provided as standard for ease of operation.

This machine is ideal for production applications, as well as for maintenance and tool and die shops, school and research operations . And because it has the same superrigid struc­tural design as the more powerful DoALL models, you get more usable horsepower at the cut than with many competi­tive machines with higher hp ratings.

DoALL Model FV-4V vertical milling machine

The Model FV-4V has a 12 x 52-3/ 4-in table with 31-1 / 2-in . longitudinal travel , 15-3/ 4-in . cross travel and 17-5/ 8-in. knee travel. With its 4-hp variable speed drive and a speed range of 60-4150 rpm, you have power to spare .

The FV-4V is a heavy-duty milling machine with 4-hp that is fully usable because the head will not move. It tilts in only one plane and is held in place by both locking nuts and a pin. Drawbar is also furnished as standard with quick-change spindle , which means you can use your standard tooling on the initial setup and production .

This machine has an extra-wide 33-in . standard saddle which eliminates the tendency to tilt encountered on competitive machines when you run the table out to the longitudinal ends and dovetail ways which give you accuracy and stability. Adjustable antibacklash nuts are standard on both table and saddle. Also standard are power feeds on the quill , table, saddle and knee. In addition , the FV-4V has worm gear for head tilt , cutting fluid and one-shot lubrication systems.

Unmatched rigidity, versatility and ease of operation The key to milling machine accuracy and produc­t ivity is rigidity. To achieve this , we start with an oversized , one-piece, extra-heavy column/base casting. We use an extra-wide saddle measuring 30 to 33 inches wide . This prevents the table tilting encountered on competitive machines which usually have saddles only 25 to 27 inches wide .

Compare the length of the ways on DoALL ma­chines with any other on the market. You ' ll find ours are longer. This helps assure that there will be no table deflection when you run the table out to the longitudinal ends . Then check the knee on the DoALL models. It has more mass in the knee than its biggest competitors.

Ruggedly built for productivity and precision. All DoALL milling machines have a massive one· piece column/base casting. You have more mass in the knee than you find on the typical milling ma· chine in this size range . This gives you extra stability, accuracy and fine finishing capacity.

The DoALL mills also have wider saddle ways than the typical machine. And it means that you have enough support on the saddle to be able to run your DoALL table all the way out to the end of the ways without any tendency to tilt.

All of the tables on the DoALL machines are over· sized, ranging from 10 x 49 in . to 12 x 52-3/4 in. This means that you can mill larger and heavier workpieces without worrying about straining the machine.

Massive, one-piece column/base casting is the most rigid used on any production model milling machines on the market today.

Hardened and ground spindle drive gears are stand­ard on all DoALL machines in this series. An NS 40 taper in spindle with a full 11-in. bearing surface contributes to the superior cutter stability of these mills, even under heavy climb cutting conditions. A worm gear is provided for precision angular po­sitioning of the head.

Table and saddle leadscrews are heat treated and ground tor long lite and precision and are located in the center of the guideways tor maximum lead­screw accuracy.

The rigid turret assembly has a 360-degree swing on a base with a diameter 3 in. larger than its nearest competitor. Rack-and-pinion ram move­ment is standard.

Work capacity is virtually unmatched in the in­dustry tor machines in this horsepower range. The FV-1V, FV-2V, and FV-4V give you 31-1/2 in. of table t ravel, 17-5/8-in. knee travel and 15-3/4-in. cross • traverse. And they can handle workpieces weigh-ing over half a ton .

® Angular cuts in the horizontal plane can be made with pre­c ision at any point in a 180-degree arc. Left/right head swivel permits counterbalancing weight of head so that one person can easily position spindle for angle cuts. It is standard on all machines except the FVH-205. On the FV-4V you have posi· t ive locking of the head for vertical milling.

@ Angular cuts in the front-to·back plane can be made with the FV-1V, FV-2V and FVH-205. A worm gear is provided for sw iveling the head easily without assistance. FV-1 V and FV-2V only.

@ All controls are within easy reach. A multiple handwheel system for longitudinal feed includes a third handwheel lo· cated on the saddle (FV-2V, FV-4V, and FVH-205) as standard equipment. All handwheels are spring loaded and free wheel· ing for safety. The positioning of feed lever determines direc­tion of table feed . One lever operates both rapid traverse and feed. The central control panel is front mounted for operator convenience. All electrical components are also easily acces­sible for inspection and maintenance, if required.

This versatile massively built mill can handle a wide variety of such machining operations as boring , drilling , vertical and horizontal milling , slotting and diesinking It has the power and stability to make heavy cuts using modern tooling

Rapid changeover. Conversion from vertical to horizontal models is quick and easy. Just retract the forearm , loosen four bolts on the head and rotate the head to any angle in an arc 150 degrees from the horizontal. Stops are prov ided at 0 and 90 degrees.

Power to spare. The FVH-205 has a 2-speed , elec­trically reversible 8-hp spindle drive motor, pro­viding 2 speed ranges, giving you 18 separate speed selections from 40 through 1500 rpm. Spindle taper is NS 40 with an NS 50 as optional .

Heavy-duty design. The 5500-pound machine is constructed of heavy, stabilized pearlitic castings that are ribbed for ~ • strength Crossfeed and longitudinal screws are placed at • • the center between their respective ways for stability and • • ease of movement. An outboard knee support is prov ided for table stability. Gears are made from chrome-nickel steel , hardened and ground and encased in an oil bath . Tapered locking gibs are used and a central lubricating system i provided for ways and screws.

Extra-large table. A full 12 x 52-3 / 4 in . Power feed for table , saddle and knee are standard. Longitudinal (31-1 / 2-in. travel) and crossfeed (15-3 / 4 in. traverse) range is 1/ 2 through 20-7/ 8 ipm and vertical feed is 1/ 4 through 10-7/ 16 ipm, with a rapid traverse of 85 ipm for longitudinal and cross travel and 42-1 / 2 ipm for vertical movements.

Limit switches shut off the longitudinal and cross feeds auto­matically at stops which you can preset. The crank-operated ram provides 25-in. movement front to back. A telescoping knee-elevating screw permits 0- to 19-3/ 4-in. clearance in the vertical mode and 26-3 / 4 in. for horizontal operation.

Easy to operate. Controls for the machine are grouped at the front for easy access and operator convenience. Longi­tudinal table travel can be controlled by an extra handwheel positioned on the left front of the machine, as well as by "snapout' " handwheels at both ends of the table. Speed selector dials are color coded for fast and accurate setting.

Standard equipment. Also includes cutting fluid and one­shot lubricating systems , drawbar, saddle and knee locks, neoprene wipers, the overarm support, a fully equipped tool box and a set of six NC quality DoALL end mills.

Options add to versatility. Accessories include universal dividing heads , rotary tables with dividing plates, swiveling vise , collet holder and collets , a complete range of arbors and arbor supports and automatic lubrication.

Th is combination vertical / horizontal milling machine uses a single swivel head for milling in any plane from 0° to 150° Powered by a 2-speed , electrically rever­sible, 8-hp spindle drive motor, with 2-speed gearbox, the FVH-205 can handle any job from heavy hogging cuts to fine fin­ishing . Straddle cuts, multi slot­ting , conventional and climb cutting, angular cuts, diesinking , boring, drilling - you name it, the FVH-205 can do it with speed and precision unmatched at the price.

Model FVH-205 in horizontal mode. Conversion from vertical to horizontal mode is rapid. An easy-to-mount overarm outboard support, slotted to accommodate va rying knee heights, insures high accuracy on heavy cuts when the arm is extended during horizontal milling and when arbor and supports are mounted for multiple cutter milling or slotting.
