INGRES Ingres is a proven RDBMS (Relational Database Management

System) and it is a place to store and retrieve data from. This datacan be backed up and data can be retrieved if necessary. Ingres isevery important for company(ies) with a large data volume. It isevery reliable database and can be used by either larger orsmaller businesses. The user interface is the media that our clientaccesses the database through. Example; a screen that you enterinformation into in this case it is called OpenRoad.

OPENROAD

This links well with Ingres database from the same Organisation,Actian. This is the graphical interface that a user can view andchange the data that they have on the database. We develop thescreens to appear in the Windows operating system environmentand use a link to get to the data that they want to view for changeor report on. The database is generally on a server, although can beplaced on a standalone device were if required.

OUR PRODUCT

BESPOKE This simply means that the software and data structure is

designed to fit the specific business needs of the client; this isnot an ‘off- the-shelf’ product. We link our software withMicrosoft Word or OpenOffice documents for reporting andsend data from the screens e.g. customer name and address. Anexample of this would be to send information onto a companystandard letter for posting to a company client.
