Estimados Feligreses, Muchas gracias por sus oraciones y apoyo, ya que el personal y yo pasamos el martes y miércoles pasado

en un retiro de planificación ofrecido por Justin Reyes de la oficina de Evangelización Familiar de la

Diócesis de Victoria (sus dólares de DSA trabajando). Comenzamos el retiro con la lectura del Evangelio

de hoy de Mateo 28: 16-20, centrándonos en las últimas palabras de Jesús para nosotros: "Id, pues, y

haced discípulos de todas las naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo, y del Espíritu

Santo ". Esta es nuestra misión y propósito en San Roberto: ser discípulos siguiendo a Cristo y hacer

discípulos de todos los pueblos. Un par de preguntas que debemos hacernos son: "¿Cuándo fue la

última vez que hice un discípulo? ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que compartí mi experiencia de Dios con

otra persona? ¿He considerado siquiera que mi vida será juzgada por si ¿O no hice discípulos para Jesús?

" La Gran Comisión, como se le llama, no fue solo para los once discípulos, sino para todos nosotros.

Al considerar este gran desafío de hacer discípulos, creo que podemos tener algunas expectativas poco

realistas de lo que eso significa. No significa ser fanático y decir: "Sé católico o te irás al infierno". No

significa necesariamente pararse en la esquina de una calle con un letrero o proclamar el Evangelio a

todo volumen con un altavoz. A menudo pensamos que la evangelización está haciendo que las

personas se alejen del pecado, no lo es. Nunca comenzamos una relación diciéndole a una persona que

necesita cambiar. Eso nunca funciona, así que dejemos de hacer eso. La conversión solo vendrá después

de haber tenido un primer encuentro con el Señor. Entonces, ¿cómo es la evangelización? Comienza con

mi alegre relación con Dios. Comience teniendo encuentros diarios con el Señor en oración. La

evangelización es imposible sin una auténtica relación con Dios, con todas sus alegrías y luchas. A partir

de ahí, comparte esos encuentros con alguien, como un amigo cercano. A partir de ahí, poco a poco

comience a tener conversaciones con personas que crea que podrían estar receptivas a escuchar acerca

de cómo Dios ha obrado en tu vida. Hacer un discípulo de Cristo es como hacer un discípulo de las

muñecas Derby, o afiliarse a una organización de caridad, o con un grupo de amigos que tienen un

interés compartido: comienza con una relación que conduce a una invitación. La invitación se extiende

porque quiero que otros conozcan a mi amigo Jesús, que es mi Señor y mi Dios. Con este fin, no creo

que compartir la teología sea útil en la evangelización, sino que la experiencia personal es clave, porque

la evangelización se basa en una relación, no en ideas. No se decepcione si la mayoría de las personas

aún no están listas para ser discípulos y encontrar a Jesús, o si se sienten ofendidas o lo rechazan por

completo. Lo mismo le sucedió a Jesús. Cuando leemos la Biblia, descubrimos que la mayoría de las per-

sonas NO siguieron a Jesús (lea Juan 6) después de haber sido invitadas, y eso está bien. Cada persona es

libertad de tomar sus propias decisiones. El discipulado no se puede forzar. NO OBLIGES EL

DISCIPULADO A TU CÓNYUGE. Solo se recibe y se elige LIBREMENTE. Invita. Lo más que podemos hacer

es invitar. Nadie quiere verse obligado a tener una relación. Considerando la prioridad de la

evangelización, reconsideremos la orientación de nuestra vida y nuestra parroquia. ¿Todo lo que

hacemos se centra en la evangelización y en hacer discípulos para Jesús? Ciertamente es algo por lo cual

pensar y orar.

Dear Parishioners, Thank you so much for your prayers and support as the staff and I spent this past Tuesday and

Wednesday on a planning retreat given by Justin Reyes from the Diocese of Victoria office of Family

Evangelization (your DSA dollars at work). We started off the retreat with today's Gospel reading from

Matthew 28:16-20, focusing on Jesus' last words to us, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." This is our mission and

purpose at St. Robert's - to be disciples by following Christ and make disciples of all peoples.

A couple of questions we need to ask ourselves are, "When was the last time that I made a disciple?

When was the last time I shared my experience of God with another person? Have I even considered that

my life will be judged by whether or not I made disciples for Jesus?" The Great Commissioning, as it is

called, was not just for the eleven disciples, but for all of us.

As we consider this great challenge of making disciples, I think we may have some unrealistic

expectations of what that means. It does not mean being fanatical and saying, "Be Catholic or you are

going to hell." It does not necessarily mean standing on a street corner with a sign or blaring the Gospel

with a loudspeaker. Oftentimes we think evangelization is getting people to turn away from sin - it's not.

We never begin a relationship by telling a person that they need to change. That never works out, so let's

stop doing that. Conversion will only come after we have first had an encounter with the Lord.

So what does evangelization look like? It begins with my joyful relationship with God. Begin with having

daily encounters with the Lord in prayer. Evangelization is impossible without an authentic relationship

with God, with all of its joys and struggles. From there, share those encounters with someone, such as a

close friend. From there, slowly begin to have conversations with people you think might be receptive to

hearing about how God has worked in your life. Making a disciple for Christ is just like making a disciple

of the Derby Dolls, or joining a charitable organization, or getting together with a group of friends who

have a shared interest - it begins with a relationship that leads to an invitation. The invitation is extended

because I want others to meet my friend Jesus who is my Lord and God. To this end, I do not find sharing

theology to be helpful in evangelization, but rather personal experience is key, because evangelization is

based on a relationship - not ideas. Don't be disappointed if most people are not yet ready to be a

disciple and to encounter Jesus, or are offended, or outright reject you. It was the same for Jesus. When

we read the Bible we find out that most people DID NOT follow Jesus (read John 6) after they had been

invited, and that is ok. Each person has the freedom to make their own decisions. Discipleship cannot be

forced. DO NOT FORCE DISCIPLESHIP ON YOUR SPOUSE. It is only FREELY received and chosen. Invite.

The most we can do is invite. No one wants to be forced into a relationship.

Considering the priority of evangelization, let us reconsider the orientation of our lives and our parish. Is

everything we do focused on evangelization and making disciples for Jesus? It is certainly something to

think and pray about.

High School Retreat 2021

The Diocese of Victoria is excited to announce

a summer retreat experience for high school

students (those who have already completed

9th grade through seniors who are graduating

this year.) This retreat will take place at the

Spiritual Renewal Center from Monday, July 12

through Wednesday, July 14, 2021. This retreat

is limited to 30 participants. A $25.00

non-refundable deposit is require to reserve a

space. Registration deadline is June 11, 2021.

TEEN ACTS RETREAT

Attention all teens that just finished Freshman

year to graduating Seniors, who would like a

Spirit filled weekend and would like to make

new friends. “Lord, it is good to give thanks to

you.” Psalm 92:2. We would like to invite you to

join us for an extraordinary weekend on the

next Teen ACTS retreat June 10- 13, 2021. Cost

for the retreat is $200. A $50 deposit with

registration and the balance is due at the

Mi nombre es Francisco Javier Rosas y

Guadalupe Rosas. Tenemos tres hijos,

Alejandra, Francisco Jr. y Fabián Ro-

sas. Mis padres son José Francisco y

+María Celia Rosas. Tengo dos

hermanos, Oswaldo y Yanet Rosas de

Perez. Nací y crecí en la Ciudad de

México y mi familia era parte de la

parroquia de San Vicente de Paul

donde fui monaguillo por tres años. A

la edad de 15 años emigré a este país.

Tres años atrás viví un retiro de ACTS

donde tuve la experiencia de un

encuentro más profundo con Jesús.

Ahí mi vida espiritual da un giro muy

grande. Seguido de esto, tuve una

invitación a un grupo llamado

Apóstoles en el Camino donde se

comparte la palabra diariamente. Mi esposa y yo somos parte

de Misioneros de Familia y los retiros de Tu, Yo y Cristo. Tam-

bién tengo la bendición de servir como lector, así como mi hijo

menor de servir como monaguillo y mi esposa en diferentes

actividades de nuestra parroquia.

Recibí el llamado al Diaconado atreves del Padre Philip. Al prin-

cipio, fue muy impactante ya que no me sentía digno de esto;

pero la voluntad y la obediencia al llamado de Dios la siento en

mi corazón. Falta tiempo para esto y no solo es mi decisión,

hay otras personas que al igual su decisión es

importante, pero sobre todo será la voluntad de Dios.

Les pido de corazón, oren por mis hermanos Mauricio

Santiago, Sergio Paniagua, su servidor y nuestras familias ya

que estamos en esta formación juntos y necesitamos de sus

oraciones.

My name is Francisco Javier Rosas and

my wife is María Guadalupe Rosas.

We have th ree c h i ld re n ,

Alejandra, Francisco Jr. and Fabian

Rosas. My parents are José Francisco

and +María Celia Rosas. I have two

brothers, Oswaldo and Yanet Rosas

de Perez. I was born and raised in

Mexico City and my family was part of

the St. Vincent de Paul Parish where I

was an altar server for three years. At

the age of 15 I immigrated to this

country.

Three years ago I lived an ACTS

retreat where I had the

experience of a deeper encounter

w i t h J e s u s . T h e r e m y

spiritual life took a big turn.

Following this, I had an invitation to a

group called Apostles on the Way where the word is shared

daily. My wife and I are part of the Missionaries to the

Family and You, Me and Christ Retreats. I am blessed to serve

as a Lector, as well as my youngest son who serves as an Altar

Server and my wife who also serves in different activities in

our Parish.

I received the call to the Diaconate through Fr. Philip. At first,

it was very shocking as I didn't feel worthy of this; but I feel

the will and obedience to God's call in my heart. There is still

time left and it’s not only my decision there are other’s whose

decision is also important, but above all it will be God's will. I

ask wholeheartedly, to pray for my brothers Mauricio

Santiago, Sergio Paniagua, your servant and our families since

we are in this formation together and we need your prayers.
