• What conventions characterize poetry as a broad literary genre?

In your table groups, come up with a list of 10 characteristics, features, and conventions specific to the genre of POETRY. You have 3

minutes.

After 3 minutes, share out the lists as a whole class, coming up with a combined list of poetry genre conventions. Write these on the board.

song must link to at least one of the Transcendental ideals you’ve identified in this

unit.

Print out or write out the song lyrics, highlighting the lines which you believe

correspond to the core tenets of Transcendentalism and write a short

explanation in the margins next to each highlight (minimum of 10 lines highlighted, no

repeats).

Write a one pager explaining why you think this song is a good representation of Transcendental

belief(s).
