INTRODUTION

• When the cell have a faultysystem to repair damaged DNAis when we start to have aserious problems like cancer .

• Also the repair system whencell become in cancer cell aswell have a repair system thatagainst treatment

GENETIC DAMAGE RECOGNITION FOR

IMPROVING CANCER TREATMENT (JAN.

• Our DNA are constantlyrepair himself for all thethings that attack him, howfrom outside (UV light andtoxins) and inside ( metabolicprocess)

• This repair system is a processthat have a lot importance forthe normal functionality of thecell

• When this system don’t recognized andrepair damage genetic material can causecancer or genetic disorders.

• Hanspeter Nägeli and his team discoveredprotein XPD find damage genetic material ,what makes this protein very important inthe study of DNA.

Find Mark Repair

“The XPD scanner (green)is in close contact with

a damaged point (red) on the DNA double helix.

The damaged DNA strand lies in a deep pock et

of the protein to enable a ferrous sensor (Fe) to

come into contact with the damaged point,

thereby halting the protein as it moves along the

DNA. (Credit: Picture:UZH)”

• XPD protein as scanner:

The genetic information

is stored on DNA double

helix. This protein works

like a scanner looking

signs of damage. When

find this protein stop and

marks where needs repair

the DNA

• This mechanism is veryimportant because protecthealthy tissue and repair theDNA.

• But have a impact insubstances against cancer it,this helps , cause canstimulate or suppress thisprotein depends ofrequirements (used in therapy)

Basis for possible courses of therapy

• PERSONAL OPINION :

Every body cell has specific functions, but they all have a lot in common process, cellular repair is one of them, with veryimportant because I think it's crucial tohave a functional balance of the cell; findthese proteins and know their functionwithin the I think the process is a majorbreakthrough in the field, but whatfollows so you can take one beyond whatyou will find will set the pace for thefunctionality of this protein as a cancertherapy.

DNA-Repairing Protein May Be Key to

Preventing Recurrence of Some

Cancers (Jan. 28, 2013)

Antibiotics , methods of killing cancer tumors -body resistant

University of Central Florida professor has

found a protein

present in several types

Like breast and ovarian cancer

This is important cause can

preventing tumors coming back

KLF8 protein

(appears to

protect tumor cells)

( Jan. 28, 2013)

• All our cells can repair her DNA by important

mechanisms ; thanks that the DNA can face

constants damage threats.

• The KLF8 is in specific cancers : such breast and

ovarian cancer.

• If they can stop his activity maybe they can stop

cancer recurrence and use this as therapy against

the cancer.

• The therapy that damage of DNA of cancer cells depends the capacity of this cells of repair himself .

High levels of DNA repair

Increase resistance of the

cells to such therapies

Increase improper DNA repair-mediated

Increase the malignancy of the

cells

KLF8-promoted DNA repair to the cell resistance to

doxorubicin-induced cell death

KLF8 have a role: repairing DNA damage cause by other

types of genotoxic.

This protein do a disturbing genomic integrity and contribute

aggressive progression.

• PERSONAL OPINION:

Not only know the properties of our cells as therapy isthe key but , if not that, to know who we are fightingagainst, it is very important to improve the waytreatment it , which is why I find this news importantbecause it deals with every day situations whichincrease in our society as the news says "There areBetween 2.5 million and 2.7 million Women who HaveBreast Cancer in the United States and 10 to 20percent will experience a recurrence" a percentage thatsuch research may decrease.

MEDICAL UTILITY

• Research and update always will bevery important in the areaof medicine, as this can be at theforefront on issues is increasinglyboom in the middle regarding diseasesand treatment of these.

Page 16: DNA-Repairing Protein May Be Key to Preventing Recurrence of Some Cancers and A Scanner for Hereditary Defects: New Possibilities in Genetic Damage

• the importance of knowing how

work our body , understand and

thus achieve better treatment.

MEDICAL UTILITY

Page 17: DNA-Repairing Protein May Be Key to Preventing Recurrence of Some Cancers and A Scanner for Hereditary Defects: New Possibilities in Genetic Damage

• Our body is constantly changing andsometimes can not keep up and that iswhere we improve this adaptation.

MEDICAL UTILITY

• XPD protein as scanner and KLF8protein, that help us betterunderstand the system of cellularDNA repair and use it in thisadaptation .
