Notations used in equipment lists

1 Notations used in equipment listsEquipment List for Flexi BSC provides a list of all hardware (HW) products (cabinet

mechanics, cartridges, plug-in units, and required accessories) of the Flexi BSC. The

S14 first delivery is composed of one cabinet (BSCC); an optional cabling cabinet (CC)

can be attached to if the number of external PCM circuits exceeds 48. The equipping

lists include the physical positions of hardware items inside the cabinet and the marking

labels and stickers needed in the installation.

The document serves both as a guide for building the Flexi BSC, either in the factory or

on operator's site, and as a document in the Site documents set.

1.1 Reading equipment lists

The positions are presented in the form of a table. The tables have the following

columns:

• Position shows the co-ordinates inside the rack and the number of the slot in the car-

tridge. (F = Front, B = Back, R = Upper, S = Lower).

• ID (Identification) shows the identification code of the rack, cartridge, plug-in unit, or

accessory.

• Name shows the abbreviated name of the HW product for the identification code in

the previous column.

• Cartridge shows either the name and number of the cartridge or the Functional Unit

equipped into the cartridge in this particular position. The Functional Unit name is

given when one cartridge forms one functional unit.

• FU (Functional Unit) shows the name and index number of the Functional Unit

equipped into the cartridge in this particular position.• Use gives additional information concerning the use of functional units or individual

products installed.

• Notes column includes additional information, for example, the positioning of the ter-

minators required.

2 Equipping rulesThis section gives a short introduction to the equipping listings.

2.1 General configuration rules

The following general rules apply when configuring the Flexi BSC:

• Shim plates (SHIM4T, SHIM16T) must be used on empty plug-in slots in computer

cartridges.

• A combination of shim plates (SHIM14T + SHIM16T + SHIM14T) must be used on

empty BCSU units in BC1C-B cartridges.

• In mass memory storage devices, all adapters must be installed.

• Memory modules are installed into the CPU.

• Configuration of the functional units must be done according protection principles.

2.2 Equipping the cabinets

Functional units and panels

The Flexi BSC cabinets have a fixed location of functional units. This configuration

cannot be altered.

Stickers and labels

The available network element stickers and location part stickers may be installed at the

factory or at the installation site.

This section presents the equipment lists for the BSCC cabinet in S14 first delivery FlexiBSC.

The following figure illustrates the functional unit, cartridge, and panel positions in the

BSCC cabinet.

The CPETx connector panel in the figure can be either a CPETS-E, a CPETS-G or a

CPETC-E panel for the small panels and a CPETS-F, a CPETS-H or a CPETC-F for the

large panels.

The jumpers must be in place when power feed from the site power supply equipment

rating) is 63 A, or

housing additional ETC cartridges.

The following figure shows the BSCD cabinet in both options. It illustrates the functional

unit, cartridge, and panel positions in the BSCD cabinet after the upgrade. The CPETx

panel in the figure can be either a CPETS-G , a CPETS-E or a CPETC-E panel for the

small panels and a CPETS-H, a CPETS-F or a CPETC-F for the large panels.

This section presents the equipment lists for the BSCC cabinet when BSC3i 660 isupgraded to Flexi BSC. The upgrade can be implemented in two ways:

• BSC3i 660 is upgraded directly to Flexi BSC. In this case, the Bit Group Switch of

BSC3i 660 may be either GSWB or GSW1KB.

• BSC3i 660 is upgraded in two or three steps depending on the Bit Group Switch

type, GSWB or GSW1KB.

When a BSC3i 660 with GSWB is upgraded to Flexi BSC in three steps, the steps are

the following:

• Cabinet Upgrade from BSCC (S11) to BSCC (S11.5)

• Cabinet Upgrade from BSCC (S11.5) to BSCC (S12)
