THE STORY OF PUN

Once upon a time there was a King, theQueen and her daughter being very skilled, beau-tiful and religious minded used to Offer Roth toBeeb Dharan Mouj on the Auspicious Day ofBhadurpath Vinayak Churam Sunday: The Kinghad loaded two ships with Silver, Gold and otherwealthy items to be exchanged for the goods es-sentially required for his kingdom and has de-cided to leave for journey on the Same day. Mean-while the queen had ordered that ‘preparationof Roth should be made as early as possible’ sothat King could leave for journey after havingPrashaad. All preparations were made, as thepreparation for Pravpin was going on the Kingentered into the palace with his fellow men. TheQueen humbly requested the King to wait for fewminutes and leave for journey after havingPrashaad. The king got angry and lost his witsand entered into the Kitchen without opening theshoes and washing hands. He scattered all theRoths with his hands. The King left for journey, leaving the queen very upset and depressed.

After few months the king was returningfrom the journey and a rumor spread in the king-dom that “ King along with his cargo had drowned

in the sea”. This hue and cry in the Kingdom madethe rivals conscious and they attacked the king-dom. The Queen and the Princess were left withno option but to leave the palace for their sur-vival. They could not bear the abuses of the pub-lic and left the kingdom. They reached to a nearbyvillage where a rich man of the village offered ajob of husking paddy to the Queen and clean-ness of stable to the Princess. There were no ma-chines those days the husking was done in a tra-ditional manner by putting the paddy in a homemade carved stone “Kanz” and the same washammered by a log of wood “Muhul”. The richman used to offer the residue of the cleaned riceto them as wages and they made their both endsmeat out of it. After some time they made a smallthashed hut near the village and started living there.

One Fine morning the queen told herdaughter to take this earthen fire pot and get somefire from the neighbours for litting the chullaha. As she reached their, they stopped her and askedher to wait till the Puja/Prapuin is over and takePrashad with you for your mother. She waitedthere till Prapuin was over and took the fire potalong with Prashad “Roth” with her. When hermother saw a Tilak of Sandier, Narvan on wristand Roth in Hand she recollected that it is

Badrapada, it must be Pun Naveed. The Daugh-ter asked about the Roth and mother narrated allthe story of Veer Bhadrun Roth, How and whenit is made. The Queen told her the procedure and“main thrust is to be given to devotion “Sharda”and cleanliness of body and soul”.

The daughter left as usual to the stableto collect the horse dung. She being consciousabout the ingredients of the Roth saw some cornand wheat grains in the dung. She collected allthis in a basket “Kranjul” and went to a nearbyriver, washed it and separated all the corn andwheat grains from the dung. She grinded themwith the help of stones lying nearby. After takingbath she mixed water to it and shaped it as abread “Dhrumb”. She put it in the fire (Oven) forsome time and took the Roth out and give that toher mother. Mother wondered to see that the Rothwas made of Gold. The mother enquired about it,and the daughter narrated all the story. They de-cided to prepare Roth on the same day of VinayakCharum (Sunday). Mother with clean body mindand soul broke one piece out of the Golden Rothand asked her daughter to buy all the ingredi-ents required for making this Roth. The prepara-tions were complete and the Roths were decoratedon Chinar leaves (Also known as PUN(iUu)forPrapuin.

Meantime they heard some noise as ‘Kingis alive King is alive’ and the king reached therehealthy and wealthy. Both of them were veryhappy. The queen enquired about the well beingof King, the King told “ when the ship starteddrowning in the sea I felt unconscious but as soonas I regained my consciousness I found myselfon the shore with all the goods safe and soundexcept the people who were accompanying me. Iwaited for some time on the ship and sought helpfrom the sailors of the other passing by ships. Then I reached to the Kingdom to enquire aboutyou and the princess and some how came to knowthat you are living a miserable life along with theprincess. The King after bowing in front of the“Gadwa (dqEHk)” Symbol of Beeb Dharam Moujapologized for his misconduct and started thePrapuin. The prashad was distributed among allthe people and strangers were also offered theNaveed. Then King Queen and The Princess leftfor the Kingdom, where people were anxiouslywaiting for them to Rule the Kingdom.

May God overcome our miseries and sor-rows in the same manner as that of King and hisfamily.

The Enternace Guard ¼}kjnsork½

If we look at the anatomy of our brain. The brain startsfrom the triangular bone in the pelvic region up to fore-head and according to the ancient spiritual Yogies it

has got 6 energycenters at variouspositions. amongthese energy cen-tres the energy atbase (foundation)is known asM u l a d h a r aChakra. It is thecentre, where theearthly manifesta-tion happen.

The presiding de-ity of theMuladhara Chakra

is Shree Gangesh (eternal child). He always guardsthe mother Kundalani (Girija Mata) with great zeal andalertness.

So dear students, in order to experience the effectsof fully evolved brain i.e. energy centers, one shouldworship the guard i.e. Lord Ganesha first. Every en-ergy center has its distinctive quality.

Guess what should be the quality of this rootenergy centre?

Yes, it is Somya (lkSE;k) Innocence. That is why ShreeGanesh is worshipped as child of mother Parvati andhe eats the most relished food i.e. Ladoo, Sweet Ladoos(Lot of sweetness) Lord Ganpati says “ before the cre-ation of this world. I filled everything with Somya (lkSE;k)purity (only the seed has the total purity). I protect allenergies & where ever any one seeking the blessingsneed to worship me first.

In your bodies I am innocence wisdom and sponta-

neity when centres are awak-ened, you regain your abso-lute mental powers & inno-cence.

Only pure mind leads towisdom and wisdom( Budhi)leads to realization (Siddhi)attainments) So, ShreeGanesh Ji is lord of Budhi &Siddi.

The snake worn as an or-nament by lord indicates theactivation of dormant energywhich l ike a serpent(dq.Myuh) in an ordinary hu-man being remains inactive.

The Ganesh Puja is as oldas any other Puja & its men-

tion is given in texts which follow the “Krishna YajurVeda order. Kashmiri Pandits too follow the KrishnaYajurved order of rituals.

There are Ganesh Mandris in every village in Kash-mir known as Ganesh Bal and the main Ganesh Templein the Srinagar city known as “Ganpatyaar” temple. TheGanesh here is in “Sidhi Vinayak Pose” i.e. his trunk isin the right direction. It is said that is very difficult toplease Sidhi Vinayak because if you are able to pleasehim then sidhi will follow you everywhere.

This type of Ganpati is being worshipped in the fa-mous temple of Sidhi Vinayak (Mumbay) Maharastra.

At the beginning of Rig Veda itself, the name is takenin a Mantra, “ Gananam tva ganapatim havamahe...”You may know the interesting story as to howPanini, the originator of Sanskrit grammar, receivedknowledge from Lord Siva. He was supposed tobe the dullest of the students in a group that wasstudying from a Guru in Taxila (Taksh Shila). Theother boys were very intelligent. Panni was themost stupid, the least intelligent and made fun ofall the students in the class. He was deeply hurt

that he was being cowed down by other studentsand that he could not understand anything that theteacher said. Almost in a desperate mood of dis-gust with everything he went to the forest anddeeply contemplated on Lord Shiva. He prayed, “O Lord! Bless me with knowledge.” It is said thatLord Siva appeared before him, danced and re-volved His Dakka or Damaru fourteen times, andthe following sounds were made: 1. Aiun, 2. Rlrk,3. Aowng, 4. Ai ouch ,5. Ha ya va rat, 6. Lan, 7. Nama nga na nam, 8. jha bhanj, 9. Gha dha dhash, 10.ja ba ga da das, 11. Kha pha chha tha tha cha tatav, 12. Ka pay, 13. Sa sha sar, and 14. Hal. All thisconstitutes the very essence of Sanskrit grammar. These sounds, meaningless as they may appearto us, became the foundation of Sanskrit grammarliterature. Mother Girja (Parvati) manifested ShreeVinayak by these 14 sounds. So, upto 14th of thismonth the Ganesh Puja is held.

So, God can teach us without the usual medium.
