A little about Danny

Danny Newbold, based in Preston, is an experienced House music DJ who has been

plying his trade in the North West of England's underground dance music scene for

over 15 years. Well versed in the history and roots of a subculture that just won't

quit, his music library spans over 26 years and is ever growing.

Over the years Danny has generated a huge fan base, who continue to love, follow

and support him. Also, Danny has another fan base that he has accumulated over

the last year or so performing along side of Davos as a Scratch Dj, at festivals such

as Glastonbury and Beatherder to name a few.

Danny's down to earth and easy to work with personality along with his ability to

make any type of event a true success, makes him an invaluable asset. Using his

multi skills and adaptation to lure in and read the crowds, his passion and emotion

for the music and the creation and perfection in his work is evident throughout his

sets and samples.

about Danny continued...Danny’s musical journey began at age 14 when he bought his first vinyl record, and he is still a keen collector

to this day. A hobbyist at first, Danny stepped into professional club DJing in the late 90's playing local

pubs and bars. In the summer of 2001 Danny landed a weekly residency at what was then called "Voodoo

Lounge" in Preston, during which he caught the attention of local funky house club promoters GREEN and in

January 2002 was placed as the resident DJ in their Pre-event Bar 'Base'.

The summer of 2004 saw Danny making regular appearances at Green whilst still retaining his Base

residency, and was building a respectable reputation for his upfront music selection, innovative mixing and

scratching and was soon in high demand with many local promoters.

In January 2005 he left Base to pursue new ventures with other venues but still continued to make regular

appearances at Green. In the winter of 2006 Danny became the resident house music DJ at Preston's first

after hours venue: 'The Loft', a brand new late-hours entertainment concept at the time whose early success

and innovation served to further solidify Danny's reputation as the house DJ of the hour.

By 2007 Danny was living off his residencies, but was also starting to appear on the bills of larger venues

and events alongside some of Dance Music's most iconic and influential DJs, producers and performers.

September 2007 sadly saw Green shut it doors for the last time after over a decade of opening every

saturday however in anticipation of the club's closure Danny co-founded and launched his own night called

Happy Days pushing the early 90's piano sound or "oldskool" as its most commonly known. The night

enjoyed much success in the early days and also brought Danny to the attention of a new audience.

In may 2008 Danny left the Loft and began a residency at Fives being alternated between its 3 levels each

week a refreshing change from playing til 6am every saturday. Danny also took the baton from Green's

original promoter Chris Nicol and began organising the Green reunions. In 2010 Fives sadly closed due to

the recession hitting Preston with weekly DJ slots thin on the ground, Danny started a monthly residency

with Abstrakt In 2011 after a decade of maintaining local residencies Danny left Abstrakt to focus more

attention on the "oldskool" scene which was in the mist of a huge revival.

As old habits die hard in September 2012 Danny started another residency for a night called Peachy in

Blackpool pushing the funky house/disco vibe reminiscent of Green.
