Peace and thank you for taking the time to learn more about Dj Cavem’s latest project, The Produce Section - The Harvest...A Hip Hop Curriculum by straight out tha garden DJ CAVEM MOETAVATION, who is an Independent Recording Artist/Activist, B-Boy, DJ, MC, Graffiti Artist, Beat-boxer, Filmmaker, Historian, Promoter, Manager, Producer, RawFood /Vegan Chef, Documentarian, Photographer, Journalist, MidWife, Poet, Educator.

This Press Kit will include information about DJ Cavem’s accomplishments as an emcee and producer as well as his work as a community activist and educator. There will also be information about his current and future projects under all the roles he plays.

DJ Cavem as Ietef Hotep Vita, and his partner Neambe, has written a successful Hip Hop Health and Food Justice curriculum entitled Going Green, Living Bling: Redefining the Image of Wealth in Hip Hop Culture which has just entered it’s fifth year of use. Dj Cavem along with his wife, Arasia “Alkemia” Earth, founded ART OF GLO in 2014, a lifestyle site, that centers on the art of health and wellness, educating the globe through workshops, films, music, print, and more. DJ Cavem has independently produced 6 previous albums, and is currently producing his 7th album, “ECO TWERK”, expecting to release in spring 2015. ECO TWERK is an album focused on environmental activism and topics such as fracking, mineral, oil, and diamond stripping, and addressing what it means to have poor air quality and food access in lower income communities.

His internationally recorded sixth album, The Produce Section - The Harvest has been recently featured in Oprah Magazine, and has also been presented in his TED TALK in 2013. The album is available in a hood near you, itunes, Cd Baby, Amazon, and available for streaming on Spotify. We are continuing an international tour of The Produce Section - The Harvest; which includes live performances and workshops. Going Green Living Bling will host their annual event Roots, Beans & Greens that promotes healthy consumption through free fresh juice and a film. The 11th annual Roots, Beans, and Greens is in April 2013. In addition to national U.S. performances, Dj Cavem has performed internationally in Paris, Mexico, Burkino Faso, Amsterdam, and at places such as the Fridge Bar in London, and has performed on National Television in Uganda.

WHO IS DJ CAVEM MOETAVATION?

Straight out tha garden, fresh beats and vocals! Winner of the 2010 green for all "Dream Reborn Contest" Ietef Hotep Vita aka "DJ CaveM" of the hip-hop group "Moetavation" is an all-around "B-Boy" utilizing his gifts to serve as an: "O-G"-organic gardener, MC, educator, Independent graffiti guru, Historian, Promoter, Manager, Producer, Dancer, Documentarian, Photographer, Journalist, Activist, Poet.last release is "THE TEACHERS LOUNGE" 2010. He has played with artists such as Talib Kweli, Dead Prez,Les Nubians, Flobots, K'naan, Gil Scott Heron, and has performed internationally in Burkina Faso, Paris, London, and Amsterdam. "

Ietef Hotep Vita is DJ Cavem Moetavation, born on the East Side of Denver, CO, in the Historic Five Points community. In the 1930ʼs to about the 1960ʼs this neighborhood was a booming jazz Mecca.

In the 1980ʼs and 90ʼs this area became the site of violent crimes and had a strong gang presence. letef lived his most formative years during the latter and made the decision to have a different future. A part of this decision came from a visit to Africa where he experienced his Sankofa, he was able to stand in the Doorway of No Return and feel the spirits of his enslaved ancestors.

He came back home and found a name that better suit him. Ietef Hotep Vita; King Peaceful Life/Love. A Kenyan man later told him that Vita also means Rebellion in Swahili. One can see that he personifies this name in his works. He realized the state of his environment and got angry, but instead of adding to the negativity, he put all of his energy into educating his community and started to practice ancestral wisdom.

He began studying the art of break dancing under the L.O.F. (Lords of Finesse) crew and the R.F.R. (Raw Foods Rockas). As a cultural worker he has worked with the Pan African Arts Society as a youth coordinator for various film festivals they have hosted.

He has shared his talents as both a poet and promoter for the Café Nuba poetry venue and he shares his poet and disc jockey skills with Slam Nuba for their monthly poetry slams. He has shared the stage with several artists from Dead Prez to Kʼnaan to Les Nubians. He has shared his musical talents at the National Green Festival, the Denver based Dragon Boat Festival, World Peace and Yoga Jubilee Festival, Life Is Living Festival, the Peopleʼs Fair and the Denver Black Arts Festival, and the Raw Living Expo.



He has lectured at the Denver, San Francisco, and Chicago Green Festivals, the Sustainability Summit at the Denver Convention Center, Ted Talk, University of Wyoming, Goergetown University, CU Boulder, Powershift, International Association of Culinary Professionals, Makerere University in Uganda, and in classrooms at Metro State College and University of Colorado Denver. He has also put together panels for the Green Festival and the 2010 Biennial of The Americas hosted in Denver.

Ietef as DJ Cavem, has created six albums and produced hundreds of unique beats, always encompassing the roots of HipHop, blending that James Brown funk with the crunk of today. In addition to the entertainment realm, Ietef has always been heavily involved in education. Ietef is the founder of an annual event called The Brown Suga Festival, where he brings youth together with holistic healers, educators, and artists for presentations, workshops, artistic expression, discussion and networking. April 2013 will mark the 10 year anniversary of this festival.

He has taught various after school programs focused on Hip Hop Culture with Swallow Hill Music School and Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theater. Vita is an educator for the African American Studies college preparatory course for Metro State College at Thomas Jefferson High School Denver, CO for the spring 2010 semester. Vita is also an Eco-Cultivator starting four years ago with the local organization Blue and Yellow Logic whose focus is diversifying the “green” movement. In this position he introduced gardening, recycling, composting and other environmental lessons to 20 high risk young adults during the 2009 growing season.

DJ CAVEM is an Organic Gardener with the East Side Growers Collective. Ietef has also worked as the Site Manager and Community Coordinator for the Denver Site of Urban Farming, an organization based out of Detroit, Michigan focused on building community gardens all over the country. Vita worked with a group this past season to secure a new community garden site in the Five Points on Martin Luther King Blvd. & Downing St. This land is owned by local non-profit Youthbiz. The garden was designed to serve as healthy food in a food desert, as well as a space for Going Green Living Bling to engage the community and schools; teaching them how to grow food, recognize plants, maintain the land, build compost, harvest, and prepare vegan vegetarian food dishes, as well as employ youth entrepreneurs participating in Youthbizʼs programming.

He is also a grower and workshop facilitator at the GrowHaus green house project in the Swansea-Elyria neighborhood of Denver, CO, cultivating worms, compost and an aquaponics project. Ietefʼs most recent project is teaching a curriculum of his and his wife, Neambeʼs, design, focused on health, environment, community, social and political awareness, food as medicine and food justice to youth.

All of the experiences of Ietef "DJ Cavem" Vita, have inspired him to create his latest musical masterpiece, “The Produce Section - The Harvest” a HIP HOP Curriculum, featuring the single “Roots, Beans and Greens”. Listen and be inspired too!



PRESENTING...”THE PRODUCE SECTION - THE HARVEST” , A HIP HOP CURRICULUM

This album is like no other, bringing together Eco-consciousness and true HIP HOP - Higher Inner Peace, Helping Other People. It serves as a continuation of the Going Green Living Bling curriculum taught to youth and families around health, food justice and Hip Hop. This project features

guest artists that work in the sustainability and health field, as well as introduces recipes, and the six steps to community organizing and leadership. Included in the insert are printed copies of the recipes and six steps, as well as tools on how to grow food, and how to get involved
