    Abstract Painting with Andrea Cermanski

Since there are no pre-determined rules, abstract art offers limitless opportunities for expression. As

someone who started out painting portraits and flowers, fifteen years later I now exclusively paint

abstractly. Whether you are just learning how to paint or you are a realist who needs to round out your

skill set, I can teach you how to start thinking and painting abstractly. We will do a variety of activities

which will demonstrate various ways to approach abstraction in your artwork. Materials are included,

but you will be supplied with a short list of objects to bring for the workshop.

Amazing Art with Venetian Plaster with Sandra Duran Wilson

Venetian Plaster is my favorite medium to work in because it renders such rich and mysterious surfaces.

We will create multiple layers using plaster, acrylic paints, mediums and papers. The beauty of this

material is that it is so easy to use and you can embed material into the plaster and once dry you can

unearth parts of it. Many layers of color, plaster, transfers, textures and objects will magically float to

the surface as we rub back into the history to reveal bits and parts like an archeological dig. Transfers

take on a dreamy quality and the final burnish and finish is satiny and smooth. Come play and create and

allow yourself time to immerse yourself in your art.

All levels are welcome and individual attention is possible in this small group setting. All supplies are

included in the price so you just show up for your art. The class is held in my light filled studio in Santa

Fe and is limited to 8 participants. You will leave with at least 2 finished works of art. Sign up soon and

Create as You Paint Landscape Silhouettes with Linda Storm

We will paint landscapes with acrylic, iridescent and glow in the dark mediums, and will use art glitter or

diamond dust, a stick, or butterfly wing, on watercolor paper, in my historic Canyon Road Gallery. The

painting will let you know where it wants to go as it unfolds. No experience required.

Nature always inspires me with her secrets and sensual delights during my daily meandering in the

forest. I hear the language of the animals, feel their presence, and know that they are also watching

me. Pungent and delicate scents reach my nose as they ride on ever-changing currents of air which

caress me as time is marked by the passing light of day into night. I convey my fascination with our land

    and sky through art. Linda

Toolkit for each student to take home with enough in it to make several more projects, as well as 3

pieces of fabric and a silk scarf!

Making patterns on fabric, furniture or the walls is fun and easy with stencils. You can learn to make

your own stencils and combine them with store bought ones to create wonderful repeat patterns on

many surfaces. We will be working on fabric with Procion Fiber Reactive dyes.

Starting the day with basic fabric painting techniques, we will prepare several pieces of fabric by

painting with dyes. Then we will examine design ideas for making our stencils, and design and cut

stencils for use on our fabrics. The stencil techniques for other surfaces (like furniture and the walls) will

be discussed. We will continue the class with the stenciling of unique patterns. Careful attention will be

devoted to each students mastery of the stencil technique. Everyone will make several pieces of fabric

and a scarf. The Toolkit will have special materials and brushes for personal stencil making.
