T he Montgomery Coun ty Department of Transportation (MCDOT) invites you to attend
a public meeting to learn about the latest updates for the Facility Planning Phase II Study of Goldsboro Road Pedestri-an & Bicycle Improvements, between MacArthur Boulevard and River Road.
In February 2015, MCDOT’s Division of Transportation Engineering (DTE) began the Facility Planning Phase II study to develop preliminary design (35% design) based on the recommendation of pre-ferred alternative from the Project Pro-spectus in 2014 and the recommenda-tions of the County Council T&E Commit-tee. It is anticipated that the Phase II study will be concluded in Summer 2018, and the elected officials will have the necessary information to make the final funding decisions.
PROJECT SCOPE
The project proposes two 11-foot travel lanes for a one mile segment of Goldsbo-ro Road (MD 614) between MacArthur Boulevard and River Road (MD 190), sidewalk, and a 5-foot minimum one-way separated bike lane in each direction.
At the intersection with MacArthur Boule-vard, a 4-foot bikeable shoulder and a 8-foot minimum shared use path has been proposed along the east side of the cir-cle. The existing pedestrian bridge over Minnehaha Branch on the south side of Goldsboro Road near Wedgewood Road is also proposed to be replaced.
PURPOSE OF PUBLIC MEETING
The purpose of this public meeting is to present the developed preliminary design and the latest status of this project to ob-tain the community feedback.
We encourage you to attend the pub-lic meeting, share your concerns, and provide any suggestions that may better reflect your community’s needs for safer bicycle and pedestrian access.
