You believe in me, Thomas, because you have seen me, says the Lord; Blessed are those who have not seen me, but still believe.
-John 20:29
The celebration of the Triduum liturgies (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil/Sunday) were absolutely beautiful. I am so grateful to the Worship Commission and all those entrusted under their umbrella: altar care, ushers, readers, servers, music, cleaners, greeters and art/environment. The work entrusted to them enhanced our celebrations to a new level of
beauty, truth and goodness! Thank you all! You know, as Catholics, we are so blessed. The liturgies draw us into those mysterious days of Jesus’ last words and actions, enabling us to appreciate our own relationship with the Lord. Even more, the sacred days give us the opportunity to appreciate the beauty found in the liturgies of the Triduum. Sure, many on Easter Sunday went to church and listened to Christian bands, saw re-enactments (plays and productions), and listened to Scripture and preaching; however, in the Catholic Church, we have so much more! First, our music is sacred (intentional words that reflect the action that we are participating in at that particular moment) because the life of Christ is sacred. The depth of the music, and its words, move our being beyond the sense of feeling. The music of these sacred days sets a tone and resonates within us, not with feelings, but with the movement of the soul. To sense this movement in the soul, one must be attentive, not only to the music and its tone, but to the words and actions of the liturgy that accompany the music and words. Those who had the opportunity to participate in the liturgies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil/Sunday sensed and comprehended the mystery unfolding in their being. The Catholic Church, in its wisdom, knows the profound time and energy it takes to shake us out of our routine of living our daily lives. As we move through this holy season of Easter (it is six weeks long and ends on Pentecost), I pray that you will be attentive to how the liturgies on Sunday will push us forward to go out and proclaim the Good News, that Jesus Christ is Risen from the dead. For those who came to Mass on Easter and will rarely come again until Christmas, they will truly miss out on how the Lord is moving their being, their souls, into a deeper reality of life. Without this movement, life can be good; however, it will not be enriched. If we continue to desire the richness of Christ in our souls, we need to step up our game. First, we need to be more attentive to what is happening in the liturgy when we are there. By paying attention to the music and its variations, the instrumentation of the organ and accompaniment, the words and actions of the Scriptures and the Eucharistic prayer, to our movements of standing, sitting, kneeling, and gestures (sign of the cross, our responses to prayers and actions), it allows us to experience how we are moving deeper into the mystery of Christ’s life. The more attentive we are, and not just responding in a perfunctory
fashion, we will desire more and more of Christ’s mysterious love in our hearts. We will pine for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and for the Holy Eucharist. We will thirst, as Jesus thirsted on the Cross, for refreshment that can only come through our dying to self and rising in hope through the love of the Father, who brings new life to those who search! Enjoy these beautiful days of Easter.
Jesus Christ is Risen! Alleluia! Alleluia!! Fr. Jim Bilot

How to say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy
using ordinary Rosary beads. 1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross, 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and The Apostles’ Creed. 2. Then on the Our Father Beads say the following: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. 3. On the 10 Hail Mary Beads say the following: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Repeat step 2 and 3 for all five decades). 4. Conclude with (three times): Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Background of the Divine Mercy Devotion
The message and devotion to Jesus as The Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God’s mercy. Even before her death in 1938, the devotion to The Divine Mercy had begun to spread. Jesus said later to Sister Faustina: "Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you. Anyone who says it will receive great Mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as the last hope. Even the most hardened sinner, if he recites this Chaplet even once, will receive grace from My Infinite Mercy. I want the whole world to know My Infinite Mercy. I want to give unimaginable graces to those who trust in My Mercy...." "....When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person not as the just judge but as the Merciful Savior." https://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/mercy/backgr.htm
Our sins are nothing but a grain of sand along the Great Mountain of the Mercy of God.

The Wild Goose Series for the Easter season All new sessions ~ please consider attending any or all of the
sessions The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Monday, April 23, 1:30 – 2:45 pm or Wednesday, April 25, 7:00 – 8:15 pm Whatever our experiences, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for all Christians, and no one should think the gifts are not for them. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are to be experienced in our daily life.
The Fruits of the Holy Spirit Monday, April 30, 1:30 – 2:45 pm or Wednesday, May 2, 7:00 – 8:15 pm
By the way we live and how we treat people, our lives produce some type of fruit. The sort of fruit our lives produce has eternal consequences for us personally as well as a profound impact on those people we love. In fact, our fruit impacts all of our relationships, from the most casual to the most intimate. When we live animated by the Holy Spirit, our lives produce fruit that not only makes our own life more peaceful, patient and loving but also influences positively those we encounter each and every day.
The Spirit Gives Witness Monday, May 7, 1:30 – 2:45 pm or Wednesday, May 9, 7:00 – 8:15 pm
We are not able to fully understand who Jesus is on our own strength, intellect and power. The Holy Spirit aids us in moving from our limited intellectual perception of who Jesus is and what He has done for us to a life-changing understanding of Jesus. It is also the Holy Spirit that inspires us to give witness to Jesus Christ by our words and actions.
The Spirit Remembers Monday, May 14, 1:30 – 2:45 pm or Wednesday, May 16, 7:00 – 8:15 pm
It is important for us to remember the great things that God has done for us. Often we become consumed with our daily struggles and forget all that the Lord has done. We may also only focus on God not doing what we want of him. One of the blessings of the Holy Spirit is that the Spirit reminds us what Jesus said and what Jesus has done for us. There is no limit to what God has done or what he desires to do in our lives.
There is no fee --- Space is limited, so please register to reserve your spot All sessions will be in the gathering room of the church.

TO ALL ACTIVE DIVINE CHILD USHERS:
I would like to thank you all for your faithful service to our parish. From fulfilling our duties at the weekend Masses, Holy Day Masses and other special liturgies, to assisting at the many events throughout the year providing much needed help here at Divine Child. It is truly a blessing to be among such humble and dedicated men and women who go above and beyond in the role as an usher and as a family. From the bottom of my heart, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to each of you and for you all to know that I love you so very much. You have shown me what it means to be an authentic servant of God. It is an honor to be a Divine Child Usher and your secretary. In humble gratitude, Heather Ridgley, Secretary
The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. By the LORD has this been done; it is wonderful in our eyes.

SVdP In today’s Gospel, Jesus greets His disciples with the gift of peace,
then commissions His disciples to continue the work that He has begun. Also, He gives the gift of the Holy Spirit in order to
accomplish these tasks. With the grace of the Holy Spirit, we can share forgiveness and reconciliation with others. Here is a fitting
prayer for this day, as well great reference in your “book” of prayers! Peace Prayer of Saint Francis Lord, make me an instrument of your peace: where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

HAPPY EASTER! …again! Happy Easter! This second Sunday of Easter and Divine Mercy Sunday we are still fresh and renewed in the spirit of our Risen Lord! This is the day our Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad…
The Foley Council has been busy. At our last meeting, two graduating seniors from Divine Child High School came with Mr. Marc Sierra to give a short presentation on their experience on the March for Life they attended in our nation’s capital in January. They both expressed how overwhelming it was to be surrounded by like-minded people of all ages, races and creeds who were there peacefully to march for an end of abortion. Both spoke on how the experience deepened their faith and their love of the Church. Lastly, they thanked the Bishop Foley Knights for their $2,000 donation to help offset their travel expenses. More students were able to attend the March due to the reduced travel fees.
The brother Knights listened to the words from our youth and were both happy and proud to have had a part in their faith development. It was inspiring to hear and see our Catholic youth willing to stand up for their values and God’s values. Overall, it was an awesome opportunity to see and hear first hand from recipients of our gifts.
Bishop Foley Council continues to grow in the Divine Child Parish. Our work in the parish and the community as a whole, helps us grow in fraternal brotherhood. As Catholic men we are all called to help others with Charity. Foley Knights have fun while doing great things.
Please consider joining the Foley Council. Maybe you are an inactive Knight who wants to become part of the order again. Please call our office 313-212-1835, or talk to a Brother Foley Knight. There will be future degrees coming up in June, which will be here before we know it. MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR UPCOMING EVENTS OPEN TO ALL!
