WELCOMEWelcome to our first-ever annual report. We’re sharing some of our company milestones, highlights from the last year and our development plans for the future.

Much has changed in our business since we first started 5 years ago. We’ve recently seen the introduction of equal marriage, and progress is being made on women in the boardroom. There is also a much stronger narrative emerging on how to tackle the persistent gender pay gap.

When London hosted the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012 everyone was hopeful of an economic boost. In recruitment and employment, the boost came in the form of the work opportunities created bythe Games, and the shift-change in people’s attitudes towards disabled people.

Three years ago the government launched the high-profile Disability Confident campaign, and we are proud to have been supporting the campaign from day one, as well as working actively in partnership with the Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative.

Taking a broader perspective, we have grown from being an online job board to offering a unique digital platform for employers.

The Big IDEA is your employer brand platform, a place to showcase the lived employment experience to your talent pool and the one-stop shop for the latest industry news and developments.

By working in partnership with our members we’re beginning to understand the true potential of The Big IDEA and there are many exciting developments coming over the next year, which we look forward to sharing with you as part of your journey to becoming an employer of choice.

Thank you very much for your on-going membership, we’re looking forward to the next year together.

Morgan Lobb Ben Chalcraft CEO Managing Director

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIPNATIONWIDE’S MOST SUCCESSFUL CHANNEL FOR HIRING STAFF

Nationwide is the world’s largest building society, with 15 million members, 17,000 employees and 700 branches across the UK. The company is a top-three provider of household savings and mortgages and has a relationship with a quarter of all UK households.

“We need to ensure we get the right person for the job while making sure that everyone – no matter who they are or what their background is – feels they have an equal chance of being selected for a senior management role. For example, we want to make more progress in helping people from ethnic backgrounds reach senior levels within the society.”Ann Brown, HR Director, Nationwide

REACHING DIVERSE TALENT POOLS

Like all businesses, Nationwide needs to attract a diverse workforce with strong skills and the right level of experience. Over the past three years Diversity Jobs has worked closely with Nationwide to drive awareness of its employment brand through the best channels to reach the best audience. The success of this has resulted in Diversity Jobs being named as Nationwide’s most successful channel for hiring staff outside of its own career site.

Nationwide has recruited 68 employees through Diversity Jobs in the past year, in positions ranging from entry level to senior posts, more than with any other job site combined

Diversity Jobs advertises over 5,500 jobs a on any given day

DiversityJobs.co.uk and thebigIDEA.co.uk receive over 200,000 unique visitors per month

“Diversity Jobs is fantastic because we can’t necessarily reach the right audience as well as Diversity Jobs can. It’s about getting in front of people who need to see it. Everyone says that content is king, but distribution is queen and she wears the trousers. If it’s not on the right channels to speak to the right people then it falls on deaf ears.”Lee Griffiths, Nationwide Brand and Attachment Manager at Nationwide

THE YEAR AHEADThe next year promises a continuation of our growth and development as a company. We’re growing as a team, with a new head of member engagement and growing team as well as a new marketing communications function.

For our members we’ll be rolling out a new programme of member-only meetings and a wider programme of industry networking events. How we support you on your journey will include more and better management reporting as well as more frequent opportunities to meet us and each other, in person and online.

We will continue to invest in our digital platform and will be launching a new and refreshed site that combines the current DiversityJobs.co.uk and TheBigIDEA.co.uk offerings.

All of our members will receive a microsite with your own personalised content and we’ll continue to develop the member tools such as the accessible button, and logos. Our aim is to become a leading provider of diversity and inclusion software as a service (SaaS).

And, as we take a much broader view of the services we can provide to our members over the coming months, we’ll also be exploring the international market, forging new strategic partnerships with specialist organisations and reaching into new industry sectors to grow our network of members.

With you every step of the way.
