Acting the Song with Maddie Tarbox, Chorus Room

Students work through the difficulties of acting in Musical Theatre; first approaching personal connectivity, then

looking at how to deliver action in a "soliloquy" style song.

Intro to Improv with Clarissa Zies, Orchestra Room Introduces students to various improv games and teach the basics of improv. Improv encourages character work,

listening skills, and storytelling. May include games such as "Zip, Zap, Zop", "Rant Symphony" and "Blind Freeze".

“Mission Improvable” with Kent Collins, Room 605

Learn to follow the fear, cut loose, and enjoy improvisation! Also, see how improvisation can be used in scripted

work. An introduction to improv in the style of iO, based on the teachings of Del Close and Charna Halpurn.

Disney’s High School Musical with Christopher Robinson, Chorus Room Teaching the original choreography/staging (at a condensed dance level) from the 2007 first National Touring

production of Disney's High School Musical from the finale number of "We're All In This Together". This is a very

high energetic performance and loads of fun.

Intro to Stage Combat with Theresa Giannoutsos, Orchestra Room

An introduction to the basics of stage combat.

Intro to Tap with Katie Miesner, Room 605

Learn basic tap dancing skills.

Broadway Musical Theatre with Chanel Corpuz, Room 604 Bring out your acting qualities in dance, movement, and expressions to songs from Newsies, Grease, Hairspray and

West Side Story.

Element Work with Connor Padilla, Room 613 Learn how to incorporate elements (water, wind, fire, earth) into one's character development. Students will

explore various elements in their physical, and vocal choices through group exploration and guided individual

monologue work.

Fundamentals of Improv with Kevin Garcia, Room 614

Fundamentals of Improv - An improv workshop where the fundamental elements of improvisation comedy are

taught. Short form improvisation games would be facilitated.

Meet the Judges One Act Acting Ryan Bernier is an actor/director/educator based in Tampa, FL. He received his B.A. in Theatre Performance from the University of South Florida in 2014 and has been performing throughout the country since. He is also a writer for Tampa Bay's premiere sketch comedy troupe, Some Sort of Show. Anne Hering has appeared in many Orlando Shakespeare Theater productions including Bakersfield Mist, Bad Dog, A Christmas Carol, Les Misérables, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, Romeo and Juliet, Sense and Sensibility, Cymbeline, God of Carnage, Pride and Prejudice, All’s Well that Ends Well, Hamlet, and Much Ado About Nothing. Anne is the Director of Education at Orlando Shakespeare Theater. Allie Champagne holds her B.A. in Theatre Arts from Stetson University and is a current M.A student at UCF. She works at the Orlando REP as a teaching artist and directs shows through Young Artists Theatre. Her recent credits include Bare: A Pop Opera (director) and Heathers (Chick).

One Act Technical Jeff Cook, a veteran Theatre teacher, is currently the Theatre Director at Ocoee High School and Chair for the District 5 Senior Thespians. He has been acting, directing, and producing plays for the past 20 years. He and his wife, Janet, have 2 children and 1 grandchild. Kaylyn Kriaski, a Jackson, TN native, is currently working as the Assistant Production Manager at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. She moved to Orlando after graduating with her BA in theater from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2015. Her most recent credits include stage managing Stuart Little and working as a stage management apprentice at Orlando Shakespeare Theater.

Monologue Tyler Conrady is a screenwriter for independent film and television, a comedian, a social media personality, and former Florida State Thespian himself. Break a leg everyone! Jac LeDoux has been an actor and director for over 30 years. During the last 2 years, she has directed at Long Lake Camp for the Arts. Jac recently finished an amazing all women run of 1776 with Mad Cow Theatre. Kevin Garcia is a freshman at UCF. He has previously competed at the Florida Thespians in District 6 for Troupe 4211. Previous credits include Fiddler on the Roof (Tevye) and Beauty and the Beast (Maurice).

Duet Acting Theresa Giannoutsos, co-founder of Mad Madame Payne Productions, has over 10 years of theater experience both on-stage and behind the scenes. Carlos Santiago is an Orlando actor and director. He graduated from Valencia College with a degree in Theatre Arts. Connor Padilla is currently finishing his MFA in Acting from Florida Atlantic University after receiving his BA in Musical Theatre from Weber State University in Utah. He has performed for various companies across the Wasatch Front and Central Florida. Favorite roles include; John Proctor (The Crucible), George Nowack (She Loves Me), and Romeo (Romeo and Juliet).

Ensemble Acting Debra Christopher is an Orlando Native. She studied acting at Florida School of the Arts and then went on to earn her bachelors in fine arts degree in Acting from the University of Florida. She is also co-owner of the local production company Pipsqueak Collective. Debra is happy to support the bright artists of the future! Kody Grassett is an MFA Acting candidate at UCF. Acting credits include Orlando Shakes' West Side Story (Gladhand), Theatre UCF's Reeling (Big Man) and The Divine Sister (Mother Superior). He recently directed an adaptation of Macbeth, and attended the Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez, Alaska to present his play, The Woods. Michelle Andino is a third-year transfer in the BFA Acting program at UCF. She has been performing and studying theatre for over ten years. She enjoys introducing new plays to fellow actors and she also writes various forms of dramatic literature.

Pantomime Christopher Baker, a second year BFA Acting major at UCF, recently seen as Dwayne at the Cocoa Village Playhouse and newly cast as Little J in Puddin' and the Grumble. He enjoys sharing his experience to bring out the best in young performers. Eric Paulino is studying Theatre Arts at Valencia College and has worked extensively in the Orlando theatre community. Some of his most prominent roles were Oberon from A Midsummer Nights Dream as well as Sonny from In the Heights. Sebastian Gonzalez is a second year BFA Acting major at UCF. When he is not at school or in the theatre, you can find him dancing in the Superstar Parade at Universal Studios with his friend, Squidward Tentacles. His past credits include Malcolm (Macbeth), Bullshot Crummond (Bullshot Crummond), Metamorphoses (Apollo/Vertumnus).

Improv Clarissa Zies has a Bachelor of Arts from George Mason University, has studied with SAK Comedy Lab, and Second City. She is on an improv team, and is currently working as a voice actor and sketch writer. She has been in numerous productions her favorite being Scarlett from Lion in the Streets. She is excited to participate in this year’s Junior Thespian competition. Break a leg! Kent Collins is a Sophomore BFA musical theatre major at UCF. He has been performing for fifteen years, and has over a dozen directing credits. He has worked closely with legends Terrence Mann and Charlotte d'Amboise. Most recently, he was Igor in Theatre UCF's production of The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein. Pat LoRicco has a BA in theatre at Palm Beach Atlantic University. His professional credits include the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival, Wellington's Children's Theatre, and the Orlando Repertory Theatre. Recently, he has been teaching drama classes for the Pop Shop at One School of the Arts and Trinity Christian Academy.

Solo A Heather Barbour has been a performer since age 4, and is a graduate of Dr. Phillips High School's prestigious theatre program. She currently works for Universal Orlando's Creative division and performs at Hamburger Mary's Broadway Brunch show. Maddie Tarbox is currently perusing her MFA in Acting from UCF while also working as an acting/education intern for Orlando Shakespeare Theater. She received her BA in Musical Theatre from Weber State University in Utah and is fully certified in Somatic Voicework - The LoVetri Method. Mickey Layman, originally from Illinois, performed at several professional regional and dinner theaters throughout the Midwest before relocating to sunny Florida. Currently, he can be seen performing at Sleuths Mystery Dinner Shows, and has recently been seen onstage with Beth Marshall Presents and Theatre Winter Haven. He can also be seen periodically directing for Playwright’s Round Table. He holds a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Central Florida, and is currently seeking a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling.

Solo B Kimberly Kreiner-Snyder obtained her B.A. in Acting/Directing from DeSales University. She has performed and directed with local theatre companies such as Odd-o-Ts Entertainment, FELD, and Shine in the Limelight. Kimberly also studied voice over work with Ginny Kopf. Duet Musical Melissa Labiak has been involved with Stage and Film for the past 25 years. She has worked with Nickelodeon Studios and Christian Television Network. Locally, Melissa participates in community theatre throughout the Tampa Bay Area. When she's not performing, she works at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. Kelli McGurk is a senior at UCF studying theatre. She currently works at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in the School of the Arts. This past summer she worked as a programming intern at Feinstein's/54 Below in New York City. She is passionate about arts administration and arts education. Christopher Robinson is an American Performer (Actor/Dancer), Choreographer, Director, Composer, Artist and Writer. Originally from New Orleans, LA, he attended the New Orleans Centre for the Creative Arts Academy for Theatre and Film. He is also a full-time student of Full Sail University (Digital Arts and Design). He has worked with various organizations both in the U.S. and Internationally from High School productions to professional productions and events.

Meet the Judges (cont.). Small/Large Group Musical Katie Miesner is a Theatre Studies and Entertainment Management major with minors in Dance and History at UCF. She works in Entertainment at Legoland Florida Resort and SeaWorld. She also is a choreographer for schools and youth theatres in Tampa and Orlando. Morganne Evans is a soon-to-be graduate of UCF, and is the education and community engagement intern at Orlando Repertory Theatre. Her choreography work has been recognized by the International Collegiate Competition of a Cappella, allowing her group to compete at the ICCA Finals competition at the Beacon Theatre in New York. Chanel Corpuz has based her learnings of the performing arts in many different aspects from Musical Drama to Choral Ensembles. She has competed in County/State Vocal & Ensemble competitions along with National Dance Competitions. She guest instructs at a Dance Studio in Sanford, and is an Office Manager in Downtown Orlando.

Scene Writing, Marketing Ken Preuss is a Central Florida playwright and teacher. His 14 published one-acts for teens include Shuffling, Alienated, and Campsite Chaos. His 10-minute plays have been produced in festivals across the United States and abroad. Bob Eskin received a BFA in Theater from USF. Since 2012, he has worked with several local theatre groups onstage as well as behind the scenes. Katie Thayer is an actor, improviser, and playwright living in Orlando. She can regularly be seen at Sleuths, and her works are often performed by Playwrights Round Table.

Costume, Makeup, and Scene Design A Melissa Cooper, a graduate of Rollins College, has been a District Thespian judge for four years. She has been professionally stage managing in the Central Florida area since 2012. Her favorite productions include Simpleton: The Legend of President Trump, The History Boys, and Totally Electric. Samantha Cole is a first hand and lead stitcher at Orlando Shakespeare Theatre. She has worked as a stitcher for theaters in Texas up to Ohio over to Virginia. Originally from Arkansas, Samantha received her degree in Design and Technologies from Arkansas State. Alissia Valentin graduated from Rollins College with a bachelor's degree concentrating in theatre arts. Currently, she is a Scenic Apprentice with Orlando Shakespeare Theater, and is happy to be a part of an amazing team. She’s really excited to see youth participation within the theatre community at the festival.

Costume, Makeup, and Scene Design B Meghan Mitchell graduated cum laude from North Central College in Naperville, IL with a B.A. in Musical Theatre. After working regionally and on cruise ships for several years, she is happy to live and work at the Parks in Orlando as an Actor/Singer/Dancer. Laura Leilani Bennett is an undergraduate student at UCF. She is pursuing a B.A. in Theatre Studies. Laura was an International Honors Thespian in high school, competing at both district and state levels. She is honored to be here and can't wait to see what District 8 has in store! Brienna Killgallon has earned an AAFA in both Theatre and Dance while living in Phoenix, Arizona. She has over fourteen years of theatrical experience both on and offstage, and has earned awards in various theatrical disciplines. Her specialties include performing, choreography, playwriting, makeup and costume design, and stage managing.
