Formal Learning in which the student and the instructor are not in the

Distance education or distance learning? Distance education because what is the role of the teacher if the learner
learns by himself!!!
If we say distance learning it seems that we cancel the role of the
teacher.
Also, through the education the learning happens. So, education is the
broadband.

History of distance education and technology DE has been developed through 5 generations:
Correspondence generation (Print).
Multimedia Generation (Videotape, audiotape, CDs..etc).
Telelearning Generation (Audioconferencing, videoconferencing,
broadcasting)
Flexible Learning generation (internet, network)
Intelligent flexible learning generation.

History of distance education and technology DE started in 1728. The University of London was the first university
to offer DL degree.
In 2006 the Sloan Consortium reported that more than 96 percent of the
largest colleges and universities in the United States offered online
courses and that almost 3.2 million U.S. students were taking at least
one online course during the fall 2005 term.
