The Opportunity• Providing paint in the color chosen by the
customer – different types of samples, sheen levels, paint lines, …
• Fan decks are pathetically finite (~1800) while color space is huge (~ 20 million).
• Current technology is old (1940s), complex (spectral curves + trial & error), expensive (~ 7K + 1K/yr), not portable (a spectro tethered to a desk top computer), with low accuracy & poor performance in many color regions.
The Color EyeQ Solution
• Portable, Accurate, Inexpensive, Internet Based custom color tinting.
• Result of R&D by experts in color engineering, computer science, machine learning & statistics, and robotics – in partnership with some visionaries among paint manu-facturers & retailers.
The Value Proposition
In the words of our customers:– increased customer
satisfaction– increased revenue/profit– fast throughput (no trial &
error)– Much fewer mis-tints &
wastage.

Elements of Disruption
• Bringing the store to the customer (power of the Internet) !
• Empowering the small guy !• No need for spectros !• No need for trial & error synthesis
(compare acoustic modeling vs. new approaches for digital voice)
• Making custom tinting a breeze• Significant reduction in lab time and
expenses
In short, a new paradigm
Our Challenges• Increasing the early majority and
scaling
• Overcoming the initial nays - Can’t be done; we’ve tried !
- Not invented here - Threat perceptions - Exclusivity issues - Small company handicaps - Getting the word out !
