About The Go-Pak Group

The Go-Pak Group is the British subsidiary of SCG Packaging (SCGP) and consists of 3 operating companies. We specialise in providing disposable products and packaging for the Food Service, Cash & Carry and Retail sectors. Through our expertise in manufacturing and supply chain management along with our exceptional product quality and outstanding customers service, we aim to the provide the best possible solutions for our customer’s needs.

The operating Companies within the Go-Pak Group are as follows:

Go-Pak UK was established in February 2009 and has since then undergone numerous expansion projects; now comprising our Bristol-based Head Office and Sharpness-based 10,700m2 Distribution Centre with space for 15,000 pallets. Go-Pak UK serves European markets with products made within the Go-Pak Group, or sourced from ‘Best in Class’ overseas manufacturing partners.

Go-Pak Vietnam Limited was established in 2013 and is also located in Binh Duong Province, approximately 40 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City.

This 15,344m2 purpose-built facility gives us the scope to supply high volume customers on a global scale. We manufacture a range of high quality disposable products including plastic cutlery, injection molded drinkware, food platters and serving utensils.

With 72 injection moulding machines and the scope to add a further 28 more, Go-Pak Vietnam Limited is strategically positioned for large scale business opportunities, continuing current growth trends with a global focus. We manufacture bespoke products to customers own specification where required, including retail shelf ready packaging solutions.

A core focus on the Go-Pak Group of companies is to establish long term, mutually beneficial partnerships whilst striving to deliver the best value for money with consistent product quality.

Go-Pak Paper Products Vietnam Limited was formed in 2018 and commenced production in September of the same year, this facility is located in Binh Duong Province, approximately 40 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City.

Go-Pak Paper Products Vietnam Limited is a 12,000m2 purpose-built facility with the capability to manufacture over 100 million units per month, this includes products such as our premium quality single wall paper cups, corrugated ripple cups, double wall cups, soup containers and coffee clutches. Products are manufactured using high quality board and include PE and PLA lined options.

Go-Pak Paper Products Vietnam Limited has a global customer base and is the largest manufacturer of disposable paper cups and containers in Vietnam.

An introduction to SCG Packaging (SCGP)

SCG was first established in Thailand in 1913 and not only played a pivotal role in the progress and development of the country, but is also the largest and oldest cement and building material company in Southeast Asia. Since then SCG has grown continually and diversified into three core businesses, namely SCG Cement-Building Materials, SCG Chemicals and SCG Packaging (SCGP). It now operates 40 factories in five countries - Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia providing packaging products to food and beverage, electronics, automotive and e-commerce industries.

SCGP has gone from strength to strength whilst continually expanding its production base on a domestic and international level. Now boasting more than 120,000 SKUs of diverse products, it is recognised as the leader in the fully-integrated packaging chain in Southeast Asia and the “Packaging Solutions Provider” that meets the needs of customers.

We constantly strive for improvements and innovations that enhance our environmental performance, securing a healthy environment for future generations.

Our UK platform was the first in its’ industry to achieve certification to the globally recognised; ISO 14001:2015 environmental management standard. Not only do we consistently review our environmental performance and give effect to changes improving recycling, water and energy consumption, and reduced carbon emissions through haulage partnerships; we develop these practices and principles throughout our global supply chain through close collaboration with all manufacturing partners.

Many of our products have been re-engineered to incorporate optimal material consumption, without compromising our stringent quality standards. We procure ethically cultivated raw materials from reputable, certified suppliers, focussing on wood-derivative materials from FSC or PEFC sources. In our bespoke options we prioritise the use of water or soya-based inks, reducing our dependence on unsustainable materials. We have significantly developed our compostable Edenware™ brand to promote the use of natural materials while improving the environmental impact of our portfolio.

Edenware FAQs Edenware FAQs

We are continually developing the green credentials of our products, with uncompromising quality, across our entire range and are excited to promote the growth of our Packaging as nature intended.

What is Biodegradable?A biodegradable product is one that is capable of being decomposed through the metabolism of microorganisms. What this essentially means for a biodegradable plastic; is that it’s eaten!

This process leaves no trace of the product’s original existence – the carbon atoms within the plastic are broken apart; as organic molecules are created. These molecules can be processed by, and create, organic living things; generating a natural and sustainable lifecycle.

What is Compostable?Compostable products are a subset of biodegradable products, which means as well as biodegrading, they also meet certain criteria under certain conditions. Our compostable products fall into 2 categories, those that are suitable for home composting and those that are commercially compostable.

Because of the comparatively smaller volumes of waste involved, the temperature in a garden compost heap is lower and tends to be less constant than in an industrial composting environment. This means that certified home compostable packaging like our Bagasse Range, can simply be placed in your home compost. Products like these will have been rigorously tested in order to meet several standards Australia: AS 5810 (2010), France: NF T 51800 (2015) and Europe: prEN 17427 (2020) and carry seeding logo 7P2423 and ‘OK compost HOME’ conformity mark, meaning that any component or material used in the packaging including the printing ink, and the adhesives will break down into carbon dioxide (CO2), water, inorganic compounds and biomass with no visible contaminants or toxic residue/substances suitable to decompose within a garden compost environment.

Commercially compostable products which will have been rigorously tested in order to meet the conditions as set out in EN-13432 and carry the ‘OK compost INDUSTRIAL’ conformity mark, will biodegrade by 90% within 6 months. At 12 weeks 90% of the product should pass through 2mm x 2mm mesh. This stage of testing evidences the disintegration of the packaging product. Finally, the toxicity and quality of the finished compost must not be adversely affected by the ‘compostable’ subject to safely ensure the future growth of organic life.

In order for our commercially compostable products to fulfil the lifecycle we intend for them – an infrastructure, as illustrated on the next page, is vital. Consumers using compostable packaging must be diligent in using a designated commercial food waste stream, while avoiding the disposal of non-compostable materials that will be rejected as contaminates.

What is CPLA?Our CPLA cutlery is derived from PLA, it is 100% biodegradable and compostable according to the EN-13432 standard. At the end of life, these products can be recycled, but can also be composted in industrial composting facilities.

What is Bagasse?Bagasse is the dry pulpy fibrous residue that remains after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed to extract

their juice. We turn that sugarcane ‘would-be-waste’ residue, into pressed bowls, plates and clamshells!

Our Bagasse products are certified home compostable, have great functionality and look fantastic. The perfect alternative to difficult-to-recycle materials; eliminating the need to sort food-contaminated waste where designated food waste collections are provided.

What are Edenware Cups made from?Our Edenware cups are made using certified, compostable PLA-lined paperboard. This is a plant-based lining and offers a sustainable alternative to conventional PE lined cups and our use of water and vegetable-based inks allows you to create an environmentally friendly custom design suitable for industrial composting facilities

Go-rPET FAQs Go-rPET FAQs

Go-rPET first launched in 2019 to offer Go-Pak customers a more sustainable solution to plastic tumblers. Whilst there is nothing wrong with virgin PET as it is the worlds most recycled plastic, our rPET range is made with 80% recycled content and offers a lower carbon footprint, whilst supporting the government’s target to reduce the number of virgin plastics in the market by 2025.

But what exactly is PET? And why is rPET

so valuable?PET is a polymer that is used to manufacture strong, clear, bottles, lightweight containers and packaging. A key advantage of PET is that it has a well-established recycling infrastructure and can be recycled numerous times. Its superb physical properties enable the manufacture of lightweight containers which minimizes the use of natural resources.

What is the recycling Process?

PET can be collected and sorted by any curbside recycling programme and nearly all local authorities offer collection for PET products.

After the sorting process, the PET material is ground into particles known as “flakes.” Flake purity is central to preserving the value of the reclaimed plastic. Further separation techniques involve washing and air classification as well as water baths, where material either sinks or floats, which helps separate residual foreign materials. Washing can be undertaken at standard or elevated heat levels. The use of disinfectants and detergents aids in achieving a complete cleaning.

The recycled PET is then dried before reintroduction as a manufacturing material or before further processing.

Melt filtering can further purify material through the removal of any non-melting contaminants that may have survived earlier steps.

Extruded material passes through a series of screens to form pellets while non-melted particulate is blocked. Pelletized plastic provides a uniform-sized material that can be reintroduced into the manufacturing process.

Does rPET have the same clarity as PET?Did you know rPET has a lower carbon footprint than aluminium and glass. It also has excellent clarity, whilst being incredibly strong and shatterproof

Manufactured using a compostable plant-based Polylactic Acid (PLA) lining, Edenware is Go-Pak’s environmentally friendly alternative to conventional PE lined cups.

The kraft outer wall on our double and triple wall cups have a premium, natural look, whilst providing great heat insulation.

OUR PRINTING PROCESS

At Go-Pak we use a spot colour printing process because it is the best method to ensure colour accuracy, print run continuity and provide a high quality print.

The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is a universal colour matching system where each colour is pre-mixed with a specific formula and represented by a numbered code, similar to picking out your favourite paint to decorate a room.

Another key benefit of using Pantone inks is that they are vegatable (soya) based and completely food safe.

At present we can offer a maximum of 6 solid Pantone colours per print with either a gloss (coated) or matt (uncoated) finish.

To keep the process as straightforward as possible, a member of our Go-Pak team will talk you through all the requirements for custom print, from choosing the right products, to the minimum order quantities (MOQs), to finalising designs and deciding quantities through to delivery.

There are two ways that we can help you get ready for custom printing your packaging.
