DISEASES IN THE

EXCRETORY

SYSTEM

Disposal of liquid waste from human body is done by the excretory system.

The system consisting of two kidneys, two ureters, one urinary bladder, and

one urethra performs the work of collecting, storing and removing all the

liquid waste products from the body.

Any malfunction of this system results in the waste products circulating all over

the body and causing problems to the entire body.

DISEASES OF EXCRETORY SYSTEM

There are a couple of diseases that affect the

excretory system that have really bad outcomes.

KIDNEY STONES

• This disease is when uric acid form

crystals that bundle up in the kidneys,

this prevents the kidneys to function

correctly and causes the host pain. The

2 cures are to let the stones "pass"

through or by surgery.

URETHRITIS

• This disease is an inflammation

of the urethra caused by

bacterial/viral

infection. Treatment of Urethritis

are anti-viral/pain medication

PYELONEPHRITIS

• This is a type of urinary tract

infection that travels from the urethra

to the kidneys. There are only

medication that can help calm down

the infection.

CYSTITIS

• The inflammation of the bladder is known as cystitis. The urge to urinate is not an automatic action and hence bladder always has some quantity of urine. The bladder is the place where bacteria can grow easily leading to inflammation of bladder.

• Causes: It may be due to reaction of some of medicines, bacterial infection, using catheter for long time in case of some diseases, undetected underlying diseases, and a result of radiation therapy

BLADDER CANCER

• When there is uncontrolled growth of cells

present in bladder, it is known as bladder

cancer. The end result is a tumor in the bladder.

• Causes: The cause and effect in case of cancer

is not yet very clear but a number of reasons are

cited for this purpose and most of them are

smoking, radiation, parasitic infection, exposure

to chemicals known as carcinogens.

HOW CAN YOU AVOID SOME OF

THESE DISEASES???

1. Make a chart in your notebook about the

diseases in the excretory system.

2. Project time , think about tips to help to

prevent some of these diseases?

3. Include these ideas in your Project with the

other ideas about the circulatory and the

respiratory system.
