Charlie Chaplin is back in the magnificent family home where he once lived. Nestled between mountains and lake, the legendary Manoir de Ban reopens its doors so you can relive some of the highlights from Chaplin’s life.

In a huge studio within the Manor house’s park, you’ll get to meet all sorts of characters, from Chaplin himself to a host of famous people who shared his life and work in the cinema.

A MANOR HOUSE STEEPED IN HISTORY -

This magnificent manor house is listed as a Swiss cultural property of national importance. It was designed and constructed in 1840 by the architect Philippe Franel in neo-classical style.

Discover Charlie Chaplin’s family life at the mansion with our reconstructed scenes in the house’s main rooms. For the first time, Charlie Chaplin’s furniture and personal possessions are on display to the public. And, as you explore the exhibits tracing the last 25 years of Chaplin’s life, you’ll immerse yourself in the memories of a man who lived to the full as both a citizen of Switzerland and the world.

1850 m2 of exhibition space: our unique visitor experience is inspired by the grand surroundings of the Manoir de Ban, a listed building where Charlie Chaplin and his family used to live, and by the work of one of the 20th century’s most celebrated filmmakers. Admire the magnificent decors and enjoy a whole range of interactive exhibits in the new purpose-built Studio.

THE PARK -

Charlie Chaplin loved the landscaped park of the manor house above everything else. He adored spending time there, organizing family games, picnics and parties.

The park extend over more than 4 hectares (10 acres). Their centuries-old trees are bordered by a forest and criss-crossed with paths that offer superb views of the lake and the Swiss Riviera mountains. It’s a great place to chill out.

THE STUDIO IMMERSE YOURSELF IN HOLLYWOOD -

Immerse your senses in the star-studded world of Charlie Chaplin and enjoy a unique experience, where laughter meets emotion. As you dive into the heart of Hollywood, you’ll discover a host of famous movie sets. In our multimedia show «From laughter to tears», Chaplin’s life and works are presented from his early days to later life. There are reconstructions of the set of «Easy Street» and the carnival atmosphere of «The Circus», plus a special display about Chaplin’s famous mimes, where you can try your hand at imitating him. In the huge production studio «The Production Set», you’ll see a replica of the machine from «Modern Times» and the cabin from «The Gold Rush», as well as a reconstruction of the «Hollywood Walk of Fame». During the visit, you’ll get to know Chaplin in all his guises and see him expressing his full range of emotions, from a touching scene at the barbershop, to the romanticism of his restaurant scenes, and the humour of his films in prison and at the bank.

MEET THE CELEBRITIES -

More than 30 waxwork figures created by Grévin add some glamour to the displays at the Manoir and the Studio. You’ll meet The Tramp, Charlie Chaplin, Oona Chaplin, and politicians such as Gandhi or Churchill, plus stars who crossed paths with Chaplin in Hollywood - from Paulette Godard to Buster Keaton - as well as those he entertained at the Manoir de Ban, such as Sophia Loren. Plus all those who were inspired by Chaplin’s work as director and actor, including Roberto Benigni, Fellini and Michael Jackson.

CAFE-RESTAURANT AND TERRACE -

Chaplin always had a special relationship with food. He never forgot the poverty of his childhood, and loved filming scenes in restaurants or at mealtimes.

Chaplin’s café and restaurant is set in an old farmhouse, typical of the region’s rural architecture, and reflects the atmosphere the actor loved so much. The laid-back café with wooden tables, a long counter and swing doors is a great place to relax – and Chaplin’s influence is never far away. The menu offers up Chaplin-inspired food, served all day.

The café-restaurant has the same opening hours as the rest of the site, and is open to both visitors and non-visitors.

GENERAL SALES CONDITIONS

These general sales conditions specify the general conditions resulting from “Code du Tourisme” provisions related to the organisation and sale of travel and tours, duly applicable hereto.

The company, BY GREVIN, incorporated under Swiss law, with a share capital of CHF 200,000, established and having its head office in Corsier-sur-Vevey, Route de Fenil 2, registered with the Registre du Commerce de Genève under number CH-660-0618000-4, and operating a recreational and family visitor attraction known as “Chaplin’s World”.

The purpose of these provisions is to govern the contractual relationship between the client and BY GREVIN SA when booking tickets to Chaplin’s World and the delivery of related services proposed in the brochure or various other communication supports.

It is understood that BY GREVIN SA is the single point of contact for the client concerning any claim regarding the interpretation and execution of these provisions. In this respect, BY GREVIN SA may not be held liable for the non-respect of obligations arising from these provisions in the event of a fortuitous event, a case of force majeure, or as a result of a person not connected with the organisation affecting the course of the visit and services presented at the time.

Booking and ordering tickets and/or services implies agreement with the general and particular conditions of BY GREVIN SA, brought to the client’s attention on the reverse side of the order forms and invoices of BY GREVIN SA Booking Services in effect on the date of said booking or order, subject to specific provisions to the contrary. It is expressly specified that information in the BY GREVIN SA brochure may be subject to change during the season. Prior to confirming the booking, the client will be informed of said changes, with the exception of changes related to shows, boutiques, animations, restaurants and other ancillary services that may be closed, changed, delayed or eliminated without notice.The purpose of these conditions is to inform the client of the description of the leisure facilities and services offered by BY GREVIN SA and, in particular, their prices, methods of payment, cancellation conditions and contract amendments.

These conditions are subject to change in the event of promotions on certain products or during certain periods of the year, promotions for which special sales conditions are specified in the brochure or in documentation published specially for the occasion.

I. COMMON CONDITIONS APPLYING TO BOOKING AND PURCHASING TICKETS TO GAIN ACCESS TO BY GREVIN SA LEISURE FACILITIES

Prices covered here are in CHF and are established on the basis of applicable taxes on the date the order is placed.Prices may not be changed by BY GREVIN SA after the date the client places the order and it is duly confirmed by BY GREVIN in accordance with the provisions herein or upon the purchase of individual entry tickets at Chaplin’s World ticket offices, over the Internet or through third parties with whom BY GREVIN SA has a distribution agreement.Notwithstanding the above, prices are subject to change at any time by BY GREVIN SA in the event of changes to applicable taxes.Prices include a right of access to Chaplin’s World leisure facilities for 1 (one) day. Prices do not include any other personal expenses.When prices are established on the basis of the age of a child or children, the price applied is determined in consideration of the age of the child or children at the date of the visit. Proof of a child’s age may be requested. If no supporting documentation is provided, the price for an adult will be charged.

II. SPECIAL CONDITIONS APPLYING TO THE PURCHASE OF INDIVIDUAL TICKETS FROM BYGREVIN SA

Any purchase of fewer than 15 (FIFTEEN) tickets must be made exclusively through Chaplin’s World ticket offices, over the Internet at: www.chaplinsworld.com, or through third parties with whom BY GREVIN SA has a distribution agreement.The procedure and special conditions related to the online purchase of tickets are detailed on this website.Failing any statement to the contrary when purchasing, undated tickets are valid for the opening season of Chaplin’s World during which they were purchased. Under no circumstances will they be reimbursed. The purchase of undated tickets does not guarantee access to Chaplin’s World on busy days.

III. SPECIAL CONDITIONS APPLYING TO GROUP OUTING ORDERS FROM BY GREVIN SA

III.I - Conditions common to all group outing orders

III.1.1 – Definition of a group outing orderExcept where otherwise provided and specifically indicated in the brochures, a group outing order consists of a booking greater than, or equal to, 15 (fifteen) tickets.

III.1.2 – Booking conditionsEach order must specify the number of tickets (adults and children under age 16). Should a group present itself directly at Chaplin’s World ticket offices without having booked tickets in advance with BY GREVIN SA Booking Services, access to Chaplin’s World may not be guaranteed automatically.

III.1.3 – Change by a clientRequests for booking changes must be made in writing. By express agreement, changes accepted are changes subject to a written agreement by BY GREVIN SA Booking Services.Payment conditions are those applicable to the reservation once updated.On the day a request for a change is made, down payments already made to BY GREVIN SA are deemed to be acquired and may only be subject to a credit under the “Cancellation conditions applying to dated tickets” and “Cancellation conditions applying to undated tickets” provisions hereafter.When a booking change duly accepted by BY GREVIN SA Booking Services generates a price increase, the additional amount is integrated directly into the invoice established by BY GREVIN SA Booking Services.

III.1.4 – Payment methodsFinal invoices issued by BY GREVIN SA are payable the date they are issued.With respect to dated tickets not sent to the client in advance, the balance outstanding is payable immediately atChaplin’s World ticket offices the day of the visit. Payment of the balance outstanding must be made in a single payment.

III.2 – Special conditions applying to dated tickets

III.2.1 – Dated ticket pricesDated ticket prices for groups apply to all ticket purchases to Chaplin’s World leisure facilities for groups of a minimum of 15 (fifteen) paying persons (both children and adults) for access on a given date.Dated ticket prices for school groups apply to all ticket purchases to Chaplin’s World leisure facilities for groups of a minimum of 15 (fifteen) paying children for access on a given date.

III.2.2 – Dated ticket booking conditionsBooking must take place at least 2 (two) weeks before the group is to visit Chaplin’s World and must be validated in writing confirmation by BY GREVIN SA Booking

Services, on the basis of availability.Validation by BYGREVIN SABooking Services will be formalized through the issuing of a contrat booking which constitutes a contract that will be sent to the client.The booking will only be recorded by BY GREVIN SA Booking Services or any other moral or physical person designated by BY GREVIN SA to record bookings on its behalf and for its benefit, when the client has returned the pro forma invoice duly signed.

III.2.3 – Change or cancellation

III.2.3.1 – Change by the clientWhen a change of date duly accepted by BY GREVIN SA Booking Services generates a price adjustment, the amount of the invoice will also be adjusted.For a request to reduce the number of participants, the amount of the invoice will be adjusted accordingly, subject to the provisions of “Partial cancellation of a group outing order” in item III.2.3.2 below.In the event of a request to increase the number of participants or changes to the category of participants (number of children/adults), the amount of the invoice will be adjusted accordingly. Possible free admissions granted to the client will also be adjusted accordingly.

III.2.3.2 – Cancelation policy for dated tickets

• Complete cancelation of a group reservationBY GREVIN SA Booking Services must be notified in writing of any complete cancellation of a group reservation. If BY GREVIN SA Booking Services is notified less than 72 (seventy-two) hours prior to the visit, the initial order will be payable in full.If notification of the complete cancelation of a group order for a guided tour is received less than 7 (seven) days prior to the visit, the initial order will be payable in full.

• Partial cancelation of a group reservationShould the number of participants in a group decrease below the minimum required for the category of dated tickets ordered, the applicable rate invoiced by BY GREVIN SA will be contingent on the number of actual participants. Thus, if the number of participants decreases to fewer than 15 (fifteen) paying persons, the tickets will be invoiced to the client at the general public rate for dated individual tickets.

If notification of the partial cancelation of a group order with one or more guided tours is received less than 7 (seven) days prior to the date of the visit, BY GREVIN SA, will be unable to adjust the number of guides requested in the initial order. The total number of guides specified in the initial order will thus be payable in full.

III.3 – Cancellation conditions applying to undated tickets

III.3.1 – Undated ticket pricesUndated ticket prices apply to any purchase of tickets to enter Chaplin’s World leisure facilities for a minimum of 30 (thirty) paying customers (both children and adults). The tickets are valid for one season, the season during which they were purchased. They are for individual use.The purchase of undated tickets does not guarantee access to Chaplin’s World on busy days.

III.3.2 – Undated ticket booking conditionsPurchases of a minimum of 30 (thirty) tickets for individual use take place through a purchase order accompanied by the full payment of the order. Ordered tickets for access to Chaplin’s World leisure facilities are then send by registered mail (mandatory). The client is responsible for paying the cost of sending the tickets by registered mail and the cost is indicated on the invoice.

III.3.3 – Cancellation conditions applying to undated ticketsUndated tickets are valid for one season, the season during which they were purchased. They may be returned under the following conditions:Undated tickets returned to BY GREVIN SA by registered mail with recorded delivery to BY GREVIN SA Booking Services within 15 (fifteen) days following the end of their validity date will be subject to a credit applied to the total number of tickets not used. The credit issued may only be used to pay the next ticket order (dated or undated), the value of which must exceed the credit issued.Under no circumstances will the credit be refunded. Should the number of tickets returned result in a price change to the initial order owing to a different price for the quantity ordered, this change will be deducted from the credit.

IV. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS

IV.1 – Late paymentIn the event of late payment, the amount of the invoices will be increased by the amount of a penalty at a rate of three (3) times the legal rate of interest per day late.

IV.2 – Intellectual property rightsThe client does not acquire any right of property or use, and may not use the descriptions, signs, emblems, logos, brand names, copyright or any other literary, artistic or industrial property rights held by BY GREVIN SA.

IV.3 - Force majeureManagement at BY GREVIN SA reserves the right to cancel any reservation as a result of force majeure or unforeseeable circumstances including, but not limited to, strikes, fire, water damage, impossibility of access, epidemic, decisions of authorities, etc. In such circumstances, BY GREVIN SA may propose another date to visit Chaplin’s World.

IV.4 – LiabilityBY GREVIN SA declines any liability for damages of any nature whatsoever and in particular: fire and/or theft that might occur to belongings, objects or material brought by visitors, and not stored in premises reserved for the purpose. Each visitor is responsible for any damage, direct or indirect, that he may cause as a result of his presence in Chaplin’s World leisure facilities. BY GREVIN SA alone decides the operating and maintenance conditions of Chaplin’s World and in particular (i) the establishment of the days and opening hours of Chaplin’s World and the different attractions proposed, (ii) the establishment of maintenance programs, repairs and rehabilitation of all equipment owned by BY GREVIN SA or for which BY GREVIN SA has a right of use, and (iii) the adoption of standards and rules with respect to health, safety, the presentation to the public of its attractions, its shows and services offered to visitors to Chaplin’s World. In particular, BY GREVIN SA may decide to close to the public all or part of Chaplin’s World that its manages, suspend all or part of the services offered, such as restaurant services, for the duration that BY GREVIN SA deems necessary due, in particular, to issues or operations related to the health and safety of visitors, maintenance, repairs, rehabilitation, restructuring of all or part of Chaplin’s World equipment, bad weather, public order, etc., without being held liable and without the client being able to claim any indemnity of any nature whatsoever.

IV.5 –Chaplin’s World site regulationsEach visitor must abide by Chaplin’s World site regulations posted at the entrance. Services authorized by BY GREVIN SA are entitled to proceed with the removal of any offender, with no possible recourse. Under such circumstances, no visitor expelled will obtain a ticket refund.

IV.6 - ClaimsClaims arising from a dispute concerning the means of execution of services herein described must be submitted in writing and addressed to the Visitor Welcome Service at BY GREVIN SA, Route du Fenil 2 – 1804 Corsier-sur-Vevey within 15 days of the visit to Chaplin’s World.To avoid disputes, the proof of a visit (entrance tickets, attestation, exchange coupons, etc.) indicating the number of participants in the group are signed the day of the visit.
