What is Language Discourse? Wikipedia : Discourse Analysis is a general term for a

number of approaches to analyzing written, spoken, signed language use or any significant semiotic event.

Brown & Yule (1983): Discourse Analysis in this book we take a primarily linguistic approach to the analysis of discourse.

Discourse analysis is also concerned with language use in social contexts, and in particular with interaction or dialogue between speakers.
