DiSalvo’s Details… with Mrs. DiSalvo & Mrs. Pickard & Miss Emily August 26 th , 2013 Homework Monday: Use the flashcards provided at the beginning of the year to make flashcards for the following words: he was for on are Parents: As soon as your child is able, please allow them to write the words. Practice these words each night. I will test the students on the words on Fridays . Students need to say the words without sounding them out. They DO NOT need to spell the words. Every Night: Practice the sight words, letters and letter sounds listed on the newsletter in the “Peek at the Week.” Your child will be tested this Friday on the letters, letter sounds, and sight words listed. Until these basics have been mastered, this will be our focus for homework each night. Tuesday: Draw a picture. Include a square, a rectangle, a triangle & a circle in your picture! Wednesday: Family Night/ No Homework Thursday: Be ready to test on each letter (upper and lowercase separately), each letter sound, and all 5 sight words. Ice Cream Ice cream will be sold for 75 cents on Wednesday of each week, beginning August 13 th . You may prepay for ice cream for the year. The cost is $25.00, due by Sept. 6 th . Checks should be made payable to MES. Marlow’s Mission is to provide a safe, supportive learning environment that will enable our students to grow academically and socially. Important Dates: Aug. 30 th : Spirit Day (Students may wear blue jeans with an approved Marlow shirt. See school website for more details.) Sept. 2 nd : No School Sept. 12 th : Kindergarten students may dress up as what they would like to be when they grow up to wrap up our unit on community helpers! Other Important Reminders: Students may bring a water bottle to school. Bottles must contain plain water ONLY. Please remember to send in a written excuse from a parent or doctor if your child is absent or signed out early. This includes any day that the school nurse sends your child home. E-mailed or faxed notes can not be accepted. All excuses must be received within 3 days of returning to school.
