• Employee Resource Group – CDAN (Cisco Disability Awareness Network) Established in 2007 150+ members globally Divided into 4 groups – US, EMEAR, India and APAC – share best practices, but run their own teams & projects Members may, or may not, have a disability – they share a passion to improve the situation of people working with disabilities

• Goals: Create a culture and work environment that fosters inclusion of people with disabilities Increase awareness & exposure to disability within the workplace Support people working at Cisco with disabilities

CDAN is closely involved in all the employee engagements activities already shared

• Business Taskforce on Accessible Technology (BTAT) – Cisco is a member of BTAT – a group of senior leaders (CXO level) working to ensure that all technology is made accessible

• Customer business cases...

• Kentucky School for the Deaf: Using Tandberg video communication to unite its students with other deaf people across the country Virtual field trips Collaboration with other schools for the deaf Cultural exchanges, etc

• Lloyds: Cisco is working with Lloyds to ensure that its desktop phones are accessible to staff with hearing impairments

• Kenya: Sign language was developed to run courses

• Cisco Italy: uses its offices to run Networking Academy courses for disabled students

• Cisco Engineering staff in the US mentor deaf students in Kenya via TelePresence video conferencing

• Cisco Spain: Fundacion Adecco & EFD: Volunteering Program, Family Plan Program, II Capacities Race, Support to institutions

• Working with local communities (i.e., mentoring students at Reading University to support in accessing the workplace, coaching on CV completion, interview behaviour, etc)

• Becoming disability confident is a long term investment, a journey

• We are making progress, but still have much to achieve

• By changing our attitude and approach to disability there are things that we can all do, and continue to do to improve our disability confidence
