    Day 2 and 3: October 6 and 7, 2013 (Sunday and Monday)

    Module 2: Field Visit: Understanding Poverty and Livelihoods status of the low income

    households

    07.00 8.00 : Travel to the field

    08.30 20.30 : Field visit processes - observation, personal Interview, case studies,

    focused group discussion, interaction with local leaders and village heads,

    and transect walk.

    Observe the village resources, infrastructure facilities, basic

    amenities and government services available.

    Understand the presence of different communities, their relations,

    housing conditions, facilities at home, health and education status ofthe families, impact of various government schemes and services

    on the poor families.

    Case study of select families Agri labour, construction labour,

    small and marginal farmers, families doing small trading and

    vending business, self employed and industrial labors of women,

    men, elderly children and differently abled people.

    Cash flow analysis at the family level, cost benefit analysis of

    different business/livelihoods activities of the family members, risks

    and vulnerabilities experienced by the families, Income andexpenditure analysis and status of productive assets.

    Define the Poverty line and find out causes and effects of poverty.

    Apply DFID framework and analyses the different economic

    activities being carried out by the poor families.

    Performing an activity with the local communities with sustainable

    focus

    Group members have to analyse the data collected and prepare a detailed report on

    less than 10 pages (4000 words).
