If you are asking yourself, “What is this stuff?” here is the story that explains it all.

Once upon a time, on a dark and stormy afternoon, a group of tableware designers sat slumped around a communal table in their workshop at 222 Fifth Avenue in New York. The occasion was their mid-year gathering to determine what their next collections should look like. One artist sighed “If I have to paint one more flower... I’ll die.” Another concurred saying “I was thinking the same thing except fruit in my case”. The head designer looking to avert a revolt suggested that they approach things from a new direction and asked: “What is dining all about?”They collectively concluded that it is about gatherings of friends and family, sharing experiences, dreams, fantasies, ideas and all the things that make up life. So they decided to design something that reflects that spirit.

And so was born the concept for a dinnerware collection that depicted the many elements that make up our lives:Images that amuse, evoke memories, inspire dreams, and in all case invoke great stories.In the inaugural collection there are 36 images: 12 dinner plates, 12 salad plates and 12 mugs. The intention being that you can pick the images that suit your mood of the day or set a table with plates that reflect the personalities of the guests attending the gathering. Over time new images have been added as some were discontinued so that you can collect and refresh you choices.

So in the end the point is, enjoy the dining experience and appreciate life in all of its unique dimension.

The 1935 Lockheed Electra 10E had a maximum speed of 202 mph and a cruising speed of 90

mph. Amelia Earhart flew a specially modified version for her ill fated round the world

flight. Only 15 of these planes were ever built and 2 remain in existence today.

The great symbol of the "City by The bay". The Golden Gate Bridge connects San Francisco

with Marin County and the wine country to the north. Spanning 1.7 miles the bridge was

designed in 1921 by Joseph Baermann Strauss who became its chief engineer. It opened on May

27, 1937.

For time immemorial people have illustrated their visions of future cities. Here Doug Smith creates an image inspired by those common to

the early to mid-Twentieth Century where great skyscrapers would be interconnected

and we would all have our own aircraft.

Wood sided station wagons have long been the preferred mode of land transportation for

true surfers. This is a 1950 Ford, an exquisite example but one of many models made from the

late forties through the early sixties.

The Great Pyramids of Giza were built around 2660 BC as the eternal hangout for the Pharaoh Khufu. The largest of the three

originally reached a height of 480 feet and was therefore the tallest man made structure

on earth for over 40 centuries. It is the last survivor of the seven wonders of the world.

There is a mysterious attraction we animals have toward the presence of strength held in reserve.

The mighty lion, long known as the King of the animal world, is the greatest symbol of such

strength. As for the flowers in his hair: this one is either a "hippie" or trying to fool someone into thinking he is a pussy cat. How David got in the

picture we are not sure but it appears he has some strength of his own.

Poking a bit of fun at all of the illustrations through time that attempted to depict the future "achievements" of human kind: artist Antar Dayal draws upon the classic logic of projecting the known into the unknown. After all if you were

thinking from a perspective of 1950 what would make better sense than an Airstream trailer as the

first Moon Base. As for the barbecue: we won't tell him a little oxygen may be needed.

The oldest surviving National League ballpark as well as the only standing park that ever was home to a

Federal league team, the Whalers, for which it was builtin 1914. It became home to the Cubs in 1918 and was

renamed Cubs Park in 1920. Not until 1926 did the guy with all of the gum put his name on it. Now a cherished

place filled with memories for many generations, it stands as one of America's greatest icons.

NOTHING CONJURES UP THE IMAGE OF THE OLD WEST LIKE THE COWBOY. THIS HARD WORKING HIRED HAND

TENDED HIS CATTLE BY DAY AND LULLED THEM TO SLEEP AT NIGHT WITH A CAMPFIRE SONG. THOUGH HE

Construction for the bell tower to the cathedral in the Piazza dei Miracoli (miracle)

began in 1173. The project spanned 177 years, interrupted by multiple wars and the engineering

dilemma presented by the ground upon which it was built. Thus it was not until 1350 before its seven bells rang out across its tilted horizon.

Houses built in trees were certainly not the invention of American youth but somehow they seem to have adopted the concept with great

fervor. Driven by the fundamental human desire to have ones own space and escape the scrutiny of nosy adults, many a backyard tree has become

home away from home.

Somehow there is always something alluring about a compass. Maybe it provides the

comfort of having some idea where one is. We found Mr. Dayal's illustration particularly

attractive especially its simplicity and antiquity in contrast to our digital world.

Completed in May of 1874 and spanning 1,595 ft., the Brooklyn bridge was 50% longer than any other bridge ever built. This image shows off the majesty of its 271 ft. steel and stone towers. Designed and built by John Roebling

who died before completion from tetanus resulting from an accident during

construction.

Amongst the Greek Gods, Atlas was one of the mightier ones, in fact a "Titan" charged with holding up the heavens on his powerful and

steady arms. It seems through time no one knew how to depict him holding heavens so he is

always portrayed holding the earth.

around the world. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France in 1886,

originally intended for 1876 as a tribute to the American first centennial. Mr. Dayal's

Mt. Rushmore in Keystone, SD memorializes the birth, growth, preservation and development

of the USA. Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers toiled 14 years between 1927 and 1941 to

Miami's South Beach section is home to some of the best and most concentrated examples the Art Deco architectural style of the 1930's. Facing the beach on Ocean Drive and along

adjacent Collins Ave. are dozens of wonderful hotels and apartment buildings in

this streamlined style.

In the early Twentieth Century an artist named Maxfield Parrish was famed for his romantically

surreal paintings most of which included diaphanously clad, dreamy young women. Antar

Dayal offers his tribute to the Parrish aesthetic in combination with his own appreciation of things

lunar. Certain things only occur in dreamsafter all.

important as function, maybe even more so in the case of transportation vehicles including

bicycles. The 1959 Phantom model made by the then Arnold, Schwinn & Company bicycle manufacturer

captures that spirit with a special grace that seems to be long lost . It is easy to see why today they

are a much cherished collector item.

In the classic song about Santa's favorite reindeer there is a line that says "All of the other reindeer laughed and called poor Rudolf names". Well this guy was the ringleader. We are delighted to be the

first to expose this awful character as artist Chris Gall has definitively captured his aggressive

amoral nature in this illustration. And for the record his name was Adolph.

office to the President of the United Sates of America since 1800. John Adams, the second

president, was its first resident. In 1814 it was burned by British and Canadian troops, the only

time it has ever been attacked by a foreign enemy. It was not called the White House until 1901, until

then it was know as the Presidential Palace or Executive Mansion.

Long before Laura Croft and Xena, Warrior Princess there was Sheena, Queen of the Jungle.

This is not her as she was a blond (naturally). Few know that her granddaughter, Imara (not blond,

also naturally) roams the Serengeti keeping things orderly and protecting her friends.

Born in the imaginations of post-war Japanese filmmakers various creatures of apparent reptilian origin wrecked havoc on cardboard cities from

Kyushu to Hokkaido (actually in some warehouse by the Tokyo fish market). These monsters of the early days of motion pictures shall long live as

icons of the mid-twentieth century.

Although there is no certain record of the Hammock's origins, it is generally believed to be the invention of the ancient Mayans, originally

made from the bark of the Hamack tree. Although it has served many essential purposes through

time it remains an evocative symbol of unfettered peace and tranquility.

Who doesn't love cows? They have a very gentle and cuddly presence and provide lots of sustenance for we humans. So sometimes they get a little mad but who doesn't? These

ladies seem pretty happy except for the one on the far left who might be a bit perturbed but

Apollo, the Greek god of prophecy, sunlight, poetry and music, drove his fiery chariot

across the sky pulled by golden horses. The guy is an inspiration and everybody has

dreamed of having their own fiery chariot that actually flies.

No one seems to know the exact origin of the little ditty about the blind mice but it is

suspected the they herald from the time of the plague. However we discovered they were real

entertainers now retired and living in Fort Lauderdale. It appears their tails grew back

but not their sight.

There is little in the way of architecture that evokes a sense of romance as does the charm

of "Victoriana". Primarily a style of the middle to late 18th Century, many wonderful

examples have been carefully restored and maintained throughout the U.S.

World War II cover girl and P.R. front for the government propaganda machine "Rosie the

Riveter" was in fact modeled after a real person. Her name was Rose Will Monroe who

was in fact a riveter who helped build B24 bombers. A great American icon for the

changing role of women in the work force.

"Hear no evil, Speak no evil, see no evil" is unknown in its origin. But everyone seems to be

familiar with the famous monkeys. In Asia they portray the "Santi" or three truths of the

Tendi Sect of Buddhism. They are carved on the door of the "Sacred Stable" in Japan.

Andrew Jackson, star of the $20 bill was the 7th President of the U.S. from 1829 to 1837.

We have it on good authority that he was a pretty cool guy. Described by his biographer as

an "Atrocious Saint, Democratic Aristocrat and Urbane Savage." Artist Antar Dayal has

best captured the attitude.

Albert Einstein is the ultimate icon for the proverbial "Smart Guy". After all who else has
