Dinner for 'Between Us' Team

The launch of "Between Us" in 2008 served as a window for all EFL employees to share and celebrate the professional lives and achieve-ments of each other and established a link amongst them regardless of the physical dis-tance and location. The Editorial Team of 2009 took ‘Between Us’ to another height with their dedication to the newsletter and interesting, colorful and captivating contributions.

The Editorial Team's efforts were celebrated with a scrumptious dinner with the CEO, Mr Sarfaraz A. Rehman, at Golf Club Karachi. During the ceremony, the Editorial team had a chance to have an informal chat with the CEO and share their varied experiences of ‘Be-tween Us’. Some even decided to continue on as an Editorial team member for 2010. The group learnt a lot from SAR's vast experience and knowledge. The team also availed the opportu-nity and celebrated SAR’s birthday a day in advance with a small cake cutting ceremony. The dinner culminated in a small ceremony where trophies were awarded to the editorial team members in recognition of their contri-bution towards the success of ‘Between Us’!

You think that’s enough? Naaaa... Olper’s is also celebrating Jashan-e-Baharan in DHA and Cantt in Lahore. The streets, the roundabouts, the signals are all decorated with Olper’s Streamers, Chowk Brandings and Gates.

So, no matter who or where you are, Olper’s will always be with you making your lives complete every day. So let us all smile and say, “Subh Bakhair Zindagi!”

To celebrate the holy month of Rabi ul Awal, and to collect maximum blessings of Almighty Allah for Holy Prophet [PBUH] and His ummat, Jashn-e-Eid Milad un Nabi was celebrated at the South Plant on 10th Rabi ul Awal. Participants dressed in shal-war suits, recited naats and daroods with love and respect for Holy Prophet [PBUH]. The session concluded with a prayer to Allah that may He enable us to follow our Holy Prophet [PBUH] in all walks of life, and may He keep our country, company and people safe, secure, and prosperous.

After months of preparation we finally had the chance to get a glimpse of what we were waiting for. Packed in the new project office, Purple Team spent the last two months executing over a thousand real work scenarios on the application. The objective is to develop a solution which meets all requirements of the business.

Every morning, we would start punching numbers in an empty room and when we would get up at night there would be thermal papers all around us. From milk purchases, to price lists, to offline scenarios.....we didn't want to miss anything! Anxiety, excite-ment, debates, discussion and achievements…it’s all happening!! Magic Machine Goes Into Testing!!!

SAILS 2010Engro Corp is the first Pakistani company to achieve world-wide affirmation as a multinational.

A Sales Conference was recently held at Pattaya to acknowl-edge the efforts and contributions of the Engro Foods family in helping the company advance towards the goal. Sails 2010 was marked with full participation from all functions, and left each participant with a lifetime of memories. Celebrat-ing success in an enchanting environment with Pappu Sain & his dhol, white sand beaches and the hospitality at Pattaya are amongst a few.

Mr.Babur Sultan, VP Sales, availed the opportunity to thank the management and staff, and said, “We are here tonight to celebrate our progress. Project Pixel Update

With diversified businesses operating over a vast geographical spread and new ideas popping up every day, we are undoubtedly one of the leading companies in the coun-try. In order to maintain this winning streak we need to build synergy within our operations by streamlining them and bring-ing them under a consistent platform.

SAP aims to do just that!! In order to employ this significance, the project team has branded it as ‘Project Pixel’ with the tag line “Connecting the dots”. Project name “Pixel” depicts the smallest unit of a picture and millions of “pixels” when combined together paint an image of EFL.

The project is aligned with EFL’s vision to continue growth at a fast pace. A launch event of ‘Pixel’ was organized in the proj-ect office where the Steering Committee,Project Team and subject matter experts gathered. A project update was given by Zeeshan Ur Rub, followed by a speech from Sadia Junaid and inspirational words by Sarfaraz A. Rehman.

This year Tarang marked the start of a new chapter, “folk lores,” with its campaign “Tarang – Sohni Mahiwal”. The campaign revolved around the timeless story of “Sohni Mahiwal” and how Tarang brought in a “morr” in their “jor kahani” making it a happy “The End”.

The Tarang Houseful Theatre was designed to bring in the epic tale of “Sohni Mahiwal” to life by showing a musical thespian performance by a troupe of professional actors from Hayat-e-Nau Theatre Group. They engaged consumers in a performance that was bound to take their breath away.

Over 6,400 consumers were given a chance to live the Tarang side of life!!! The show was well-supported by the Engro team and was visited by members of MC, Sales, Marketing and Engro Rice. Over 23,400 cups of tea were served on the road during the activation period.

Special initiatives were taken to ensure that HSE requirements are well-entrenched at every step of the process. Every time the show concluded, the performers were given astanding ovation, showing us that the activity was well-appreciated. Atif Bhutto - Marketing

To completely utilize the shut down opportunity at its fullest during sterility tests of UHT-03 & ATS-03, dairy soldiers North, (along with the support of HR, Admin, Projects, Engineering, Safety and Training, lead by Arif Khan and Syed Murtaza Azhar Rizvi), pulled their sleeves up and went to clean the Dairy plant.

They were equipped with the latest cleaning brushes, detergents and wipers to scratch and sweep every corner of the entire plant. Five teams were formed and lead by various HODs. In the end, one team was declared as ‘Best Hygiene Team’, and was awarded a trophy. Tea was served in the guesthouse at the end of the second day after the award ceremony.

On 16th February, a formal dinner was organized at the Omore Guest House. Everyone dressed formally and enjoyed the lavish dinner. Success stories were shared and the importance of carry-ing ourselves as Engro ambassadors was emphasized. The occasion involved meticulous planning and execution. By all indications, the party was chal-lenging and sophisticated. Everyone felt over-whelmed by the grandeur of the event, and thor-oughly enjoyed their time at the party.

To energise people for the coming year, New Years was celebrated at the North Plant lifting spirits to reach out new horizons with energy and brilliance to grow. “Studio-e” came into the limelight to unveil the creative side of people changing the traditional workplace atmosphere to real colours of life. The Plant rocked with laughter, fun, unity, and enthusiasm. This helped prepare people for the upcoming challenges and strengthened companion ship.

iEFL launch

Attendees of SAILS 2010 witnessed the launch of iEFL as EFL’s promise to its employees, and the employees’ com-mitment to EFL. The launch revolved around fun activi-ties, followed by a presentation by Shafaq Omar, and an HR montage. Similar launch events were replicated at both the plants and the Head Office.

Through iEFL, we are giving a face, a name and a form to the promise between employees and Engro Foods. We are proudly promoting our USP - the lethal combination of ‘our people, our growth, our organization. ’We are binding ‘i’ to EFL for commitment, and a sense of belonging.

Under the iEFL umbrella, we wish to promote a rich culture unique to Engro Foods that will act as a magnet to the most preferred talent. iEFL will represent the strength of the community at EFL, and will be the platform of internal communication and HR related external communication.

Secrets of unconditional happiness revealed at North Plant...

To make & break the production records have been a prac-tice at Sahiwal Dairy plant.

In continuation of making new records, Sahiwal Dairy Plant made 751,786 litres of Olpers & Tarang. New UHT plant of 3000 lit/hr capacity & a new 200ml machine was installed & commissioned within a short span of time. The new UHT plant & machine commissioning was celebrated at the plant with drums beating away and a feast of roasted lambs. A huge dinner was organized on Feb 10th. The smell of lamb roasting and Afghani Palao, brought our North Plant Family together. Everyone came together and enjoyed one another’s company, while the meal was prepared.

This winter the projects team initiated yet another mile-stone by successful commissioning of two more production lines along with the addition of another cold store and revamping refrigeration capacity to greater heights. Hats off to the whole production team who spent restless nights with the projects team to make this task a kick start for Omore to achieve greater volume

Rizwana Chachar and Kashmala Batool, QA Associates of South Plant, participated in PCB Inter District Women’ Cricket Tourna-ment 2010, from Khairpur District, and acquired 2nd Position (1st Runner up). The tournament took place from 27th Feb to 3rd March 2010 in Hyderabad. Rizwana played as Captain, while Kashmala was the Vice Captain of the team.

Bravo to all departments including Production, QA, Engi-neering, Uility, Purchase, Admin, etc. without whose untiring efforts, this great achievement would not have been possible!

In dairy, Lahore is the home ground for all players other than EFL. This is the zone where competition doesn’t compromise. For the last three years we have been fighting the battle in the heart of the competition’s stronghold. For every inch in their fortress we have fought with our sweat and blood. There came moments when the on slaught was intense & we didn’t move forward, but this doesn’t mean we failed. Instead we always regained energies, re-strategized our plans and fought back. Our victory was to hold on to every inch that we won and fortify it. We won’t sit back until we claw with our nails every SINGLE INCH left.

Sumair &Sehar’s WeddingSumair and Sehar tied the knot on 20th Feb 2010. Sumair joined EFL in April 2009.

In EFL’s continuous commitment towards building long lasting relations with the community, an educational trip was arranged for our OWSUM fans @ EFL Sukkur. Young enthusiasts along with their teachers from The City School in Sukkur, visited our Milk Processing Plant in which a tour of plant was arranged. Not only did they enjoy the colors & flavors of kids’ most favorite brand ''Owsum'' but also learned about the basics of how it is made in a fun environment. 1. What was the main driving force that pushed EFL to think and eventu-ally decide to implement SAP?

IMRAN: SAP is part of EFL's journey from 'good' to 'great'. As an organization we need seamless processes that are well integrated to achieve our vision i.e. ‘Elevating consumer delight worldwide’.

SHAFAQ: Sustainability

SALMAN: Relent less growth of EFL and increasing complexity

AHSAN: Streamline work processes to bring in further efficiencies & effectiveness

ASIM: I guess to bring systematic approach to business

2. How will SAP add value for your division in particular,and EFL overall?

IMRAN: Business intelligence that will come through SAP will help my division monitor business performance in real time

SHAFAQ: It will streamline operations and ensure control

SALMAN: Streamlined operations and effective management of multi business operations

AHSAN: Quicker and better decision making through management information and analysis

ASIM: Systematic and transparent business

3. How can each one of us at EFL contribute towards thesuccess of Project Pixel?

IMRAN: By learning SAP and following processes in a timely manner.Remember your output is someone else's input and unless you perform yourwork efficiently and effectively, someone somewhere within the organization will suffer

SHAFAQ: By respecting the system and the inputs that we would need to give into it.But before contributing in it, at the closing ceremony everyone should be involvedand shown the merits of what it can enable us to do

SALMAN: By taking ownership of business re-engineering process and by acting asdriving force behind this change in our domain

AHSAN: Take the change positively and adapt!

ASIM: Help the implementation team by supporting them whenever and wherever required

4. Any advice you would like to give to the Project Pixel Team?

IMRAN: Keep faith in difficult times. You will succeed!

SHAFAQ: You are part of history so enjoy yourself! This project is much bigger thanyou and the defined timelines.

SALMAN: You will be remembered as agents of change, give EFL a footprint tolast for many centuries!

AHSAN: Pain is Temporary - Glory is Forever :)

ASIM: Keep your head down and stay determined till you are successful!

5. When is the go live and what are your feelings for that day?

IMRAN: EFL has achieved various impossible during their short journey and I have full faith inteam pixel that all go live commitments will be met

SHAFAQ: Go live, you will tell us :)I feel nervousness, excitement and think I will be saying to myself"This is too good to be true" (inshAllah).

SALMAN: August and looking forward to it!

AHSAN: August 2010 should be celebrated with a mega celebration!

ASIM: Another success / milestone achieved by EFL!

IMRAN: While you all are working very hard, take some time to have fun!!! You are doing a pioneering work and for the rest of EFL’s life you will be remembered as one who helped EFL for its journey to greatness!
