Universal 3D Format Converter

The Dimension 3D is a unique and highly versatile 3D Format converter allowing the conversion of any standard 3D format to another including changing of the frame rate. Standard video formats are supported from high definition to 2K. Dimension-3D accepts both dual and single stream as well as HDMI inputs and outputs.

The versatility of Dimension 3D makes it suitable to fit into virtually all stereoscopic workflows:

- Allows for any 3D input stream format to be used with all types of display components currently available, including high end projectors and the latest generation of 3D ready LCD displays.

- Converts stereoscopic camera rig output to recorders and displays.

- Enables double stack 3D projection.

- By encoding the left and right eye streams into a single HDSDI stream and back again the unit becomes ideal for recording 3D content on standard HD tape and server technologies.

- When coupled with Doremi’s Nugget or V1 servers, a very cost effective 3D playout solution is provided especially in conjunction with the powerful Doremi Asset Management software.

A two line LCD display and function knob together simplify navigation through the Dimension-3D’s menus. A USB connection for remote operation and an infrared remote control are also provided. Firmware can be upgraded via a SD card or via USB.

Doremi's Dimension-3D Format Converter Now Supports Frame PackingHDMI 1.4 3D Specification Implemented Into Dimension's Latest Firmware Release

INFOCOMM, June 8, 2010 – Burbank, CA – Doremi Labs Inc., a leading broadcast and digital cinema hardware manufacturer today announced the implementation of Frame Packing 3D support on the Dimension-3D. Frame Packing is defined in HDMI 1.4 as the standard format for Blu-ray 3D playback and all new consumer 3D TVs now hitting the market will have Frame Packing support.

The Dimension-3D was introduced in late 2009 and instantly became one of Doremi's most popular broadcast hardware devices. An ideal device for use in postproduction, live events, and theme parks, the Dimension-3D is a compact, versatile format converter that converts any 3D format to another as well as changing of the frame rates.

Frame Packing does not apply any scaling to the left and right eye images like Side/Side and Top/Bottom, so the 3D quality is comparable to HD-SDI Dual Stream. Adding this support further broadens the Dimension-3D's versatility in the stereoscopic workflow as the demand for 3D content becomes more and more prevalent. Recently, the Dimension-3D was included in the workflow for the live 3D broadcasts of India Premier League Cricket and will also play a part in the upcoming 2010 World Cup Soccer live 3D broadcasts from South Africa.

Implementing the mandatory formats of the HDMI Specification into the Dimension-3D facilitates interoperability among devices, allowing devices to speak a common 3D language when transmitting and receiving 3D content.
