The City of Philadelphia has developed a comprehensive welcome program for your delegates. We are ready and eager to show off our city and help you make your meeting a success. Philadelphia has created a program called “Welcome Philadelphia” that includes partnerships with city agencies, the retail community, hotels, restaurant associations and other related hospitality industries. Components of our welcome program include:

GATEWAY WELCOME*A customized, digital welcome message will greet your delegates upon arrival in each airport terminal.

HOTEL WELCOME*All front-line hotel personnel and Convention Center staff will wear customized welcome buttons greeting your attendees.

DELEGATE DEALS PROGRAMWith this program, attendees who show their convention badge or hotel room key at participating businesses will get discounts at attractions, restaurants, retail and entertainment venues. All promotions will be featured on discoverPHL.com/deals and promoted through tailored websites and electronic communications.

WELCOME BANNERS*The City of Philadelphia and Center City District (CCD) have developed an exciting opportunity to display welcome banners, customized with the name of your meeting, on light poles along major streets downtown. These colorful and attractive banners can be displayed during your meeting. They are a terrific way to build interest and excitement about your convention among both delegates and Philadelphians.

HOSPITALITY CORRIDORSThe CCD, a community-based organization, will provide uniformed Community Service Representatives (CSRs) along hospitality corridors during the major movements of your attendees to and from the Convention Center and hotels. The CSRs provide directions and give information about the city. Sidewalk Sweepers, also part of the CCD, maintain the cleanliness of the downtown area.

PECO CROWN LIGHTS*Philadelphia’s PECO Energy building features a brilliant light box that can be seen throughout the city and from major highways, especially after dark. Your group’s lighted welcome message can run for three days. Make arrangements through the PHLCVB Convention Services department (based on availability).

RESTAURANT/INFORMATION BOOTH*The PHLCVB will staff an on-site booth located at the Pennsylvania Convention Center during your show hours. Visitor services representatives can provide city information, brochures and sample menus, as well as make restaurant reservations.

The fifth-largest city in the country, Philadelphia is conveniently located at the crossroads of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States. More than 50 percent of the United States population lives within a two-hour flight of Philadelphia and 40 percent live within a four-hour drive.

TRANSPORTATION

AIRLINES Recently rated as one of the best airports in the nation by The Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) services more than 1,100 non-stop arrivals and departures daily. The domestic terminals are serviced by the following airlines: Alaska Airlines, American, American Eagles, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit, United and United Express (Air Canada operates in Terminal D). The International Terminal is serviced by: American, British Airways, Lufthansa and Qatar Airways. The airport is located seven miles from Center City. TRANSPORTATION TO/FROM AIRPORT The SEPTA Airport Regional Rail Line provides direct service from the Airport to Center City every half-hour daily from 5 a.m. until 12 Midnight. Trains stop at Terminals A, B, C/D and E, Amtrak’s 30th Street Station, Suburban Station (16th Street and JFK Boulevard) and Jefferson Station (attached to the Pennsylvania Convention Center). Travel time to Center City is 25 minutes; the onboard fare to Center City is $8 (cash only) weekdays and $7 on weekends. For more information, visit septa.org or call 215-580-7800.

CABS Fare from the airport to Center City is a flat rate of $28.50. A fleet of 1,600 cabs serves the area. Fare is metered at $2.70 plus $2.30 per mile. There is an additional charge of $1.00 per passenger ($3.00 maximum) after the first passenger will be charged on flat rate trips between the Airport and Center City.

BUSES TO/FROM PHILADELPHIANew Jersey Transit (973-275-5555) and Greyhound Terminal (215-931-4075): l0th and Filbert streets. Megabus (1-877-GO2-MEGA) and Bolt Bus (1-877-BOLTBUS); JFK Boulevard and 30th Street (Northwest corner), adjacent to Amtrak’s 30th Street Station.

LIMOUSINE SERVICES A number of limousine companies operate on a 24-hour basis with vans departing as needed. Service counters are located in each terminal’s baggage claim at the airport. Average cost between the airport and Center City is $8.00-$10.00 one way.

TRAINS Amtrak (National Railroad Passenger Corporation): Trains arrive at Amtrak’s 30th Street Station, 30th and Market streets. Call 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit amtrak.com for information.

Jefferson Station (SEPTA Regional Rail Lines): 10th and Market streets; 215-580-7800.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM SEPTA, the region’s public transportation system, operating buses, subways, trains and trolleys, offers a convenient, affordable way to travel within Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs. While SEPTA Regional Rail fares vary by distance traveled, the one-way cash fare for buses, subways and trolleys is $2.25 or a token for $1.80. Visitors can take advantage of SEPTA’s best travel value and purchase an Individual Independence Pass for $12.00 or a Family Independence Pass (one family of up to 5 people traveling together) for $29.00. Both provide unlimited travel on all SEPTA services for one whole day, for one low fare. To enrich the visitor experience, SEPTA offers a Visitors On The Go (VOTG) information program which offers VOTG brochures, website, customized hotel or convention trip sheets, maps, knowledgeable customer service staff, plus more.
