Before wearing the band, the user can adjust the amount of pressure the band provides through a soft elastic and hook and eye fasteners located inside the soft pocket at the back of the band.

The user can insert cold gel packs into the mesh pocket along the inside of the band and adjust them to target their painful areas.

If blocking sound is required, the user can access earplugs in a pocket located at the back and on the inside of the band.

To block light, the user can put on their eye mask by detaching it from the mag-nets at the top of the band and attaching it to the lower magnetic setting.

Festival Bag

Festival Bag is made from recycled leather and inner tube. The bag uses weaving to create a sturdy and com-fortable strap.

A unique feature of the Festival Bag is that it has options of customiza-tion. Strips of inner tube create warp treads that run around the bag, al-lowing of the user to weave a vari-ety of different materials to create different looks through use of colour combinations, patterns and textures.

An added feature of the bag is that it converts from a shoulder bag to a back pack, to give the user the op-portunity to wear it how they want.

Objective

To create a bag that will be appro-priate for use at a festival and have options for customization to give the design added meaning and allow for creative expression.

Gecko Stick

Gecko Stick is an interactive textile device aiding individuals with learning differences.

Allow for the individual to take control of their personal obstacles in a fun, tactile, and interactive way.

This design was formed from research gathered from co-creation sessions with pre-teen students with learning differences. The design acts as a fidgeting tool to focus the mind by encouraging the individual to be aware of the wandering mind. As a result Cognitive Behavioral Therapy takes place where a conscious awareness of thoughts, feelings, and environments develop to meet cognitive skills in order to better control concentration.

Gecko Stick enables better learning in fixed environments by providing a distracter to the overwhelming sensory information, therefore helping to reduce the need for movement.

Objective

To create textile based learning tool for pre-teen students with learning differences.

This Project was done in collaboration with Mia Daniels
