ERIC ANDERSON BIOGRAPHY ERIC ANDERSON has forged an impressive 13-year tenure as a nonprofit leader and advocate for youth. He has led the programmatic and public engagement eorts of diverse organizations from Young Musicians Foundation to Break the Cycle, the leading voice in dating violence prevention. A graduate of the Louisiana State University and the University of Southern California, Eric’s eorts have impacted over 100,000 youth in Los Angeles and 4 million teens nationwide. Outside of his nonprofit eorts, Eric has developed a diverse 20-year career in the arts that has included serving as Principal Clarinet of the Baton Rouge Symphony; founding an award-winning theatrical production company; performing on over thirty film scores; and making his acting debut in a small theater in the basement of a Mexican restaurant. Eric served as Original Producer and Music/Vocal Director for the acclaimed bare: the musical from its 2000 Los Angeles premiere and NYC workshops, to the 2007 Cast Recording. Eric received the 2001 Ovation Award for Outstanding Musical Production, the 2001 LA Weekly Theatre Awards for Outstanding Music/Vocal Director and Production, and is a 2001 GLAAD Media Award nominee. Since 2002, Eric has been in a writing/producing partnership with David Hildebrand, creating THE CRIMSON LETTER (now in development), #JUSTAGIRL and THE WEEKEND. CURRENT Through my private firm, I serves as a consultant for a variety of NPOs in Los Angeles, focused on program development, fundraising and online/oine engagement. From 2009 - 2013, was the creative voice and senior leader

of educational and outreach programming, and online/offline

engagement for the leading voice in the prevention of dating violence. Spearheaded programs

that are used by over 1,000 schools nationwide, with an impact

of over 4 million teens.

Y O U N G M U S I C I A N S F O U N D AT I O N

From 2003 - 2008, held a variety of senior roles overseeing

programs, budget and related staffing for 14 programs for

artistic youth, including a pre-professional training orchestra,

national orchestra camp and 20-site instrumental music/outreach

program that impacted 5,000 youth annually.

C O M M U N I T Y C H A M B E R E N S E M B L E S

Co-founder and Artistic Director (PT) for startup NPO focused on providing quality chamber

music performance opportunities for youth at all levels. Currently leading efforts to establish NPO

status and develop strategic fundraising/program plans, while

piloting the program in Manhattan Beach and surrounding areas.

P R O G R A M C R E AT I O N

S TA R T TA L K I N G

Designed, authored and led the pilot evaluation and subsequent publishing of the Start Talking

prevention curriculum, sponsored by Loveisrespect and Blue Cross and Blue Shield. 10-week web-based curriculum focuses on

peer-driven prevention through education and service learning. Program distributed to 1,000

schools and service providers in California, Illinois, New Mexico,

Oklahoma and Texas.

M E N T O R A R T I S T S P R O G R A M

Integral member and eventual leader of YMF’s premiere “beyond the

bell” music education and outreach program for underserved youth in

Los Angeles. Integrated concepts of positive youth/asset development into

program methodology. Additionally crreated a scholarship program

and honors orchestra that tracked academic and artistic progress of 40 select participants in 5th - 12th grade.

Students appeared in concert at the Hollywood Bowl, Disney Hall,

the 2006 Grammy Awards telecast alongside Kelly Clarkson and the

Disney Channel’s “Suite Life”.

Led the initial development, recruitment, supervision and

training of the LIR National Youth Advisory Board - a group of

24 teens and college students assembling from around the

country to serve as the primary youth voice in dating violence prevention. Served as Mentor

for the Education Development committee, and designed and

implemented two annual training retreats held in Austin and Los

Angeles respectively.

Supported grant writing and LA County RFP contract submissions for child abuse prevention agency amassing over $1.5 million in 2014.

Developed successful proposals for LA County Depsrtment of

Child and Family Services funding. Currently engaged to create long-

term diverse funding streams beyond local funding.

As Director of Programs, held senior oversight over all private, government and

corporate grant submissions; including overall strategic planning, solictation, grant

prepation and reporting.

Secured $400,000+ annually from diverse portfolio including Wells Fargo Foundation,

solicitation, reporting, corporate and government relations for

over $2 million in secured funds from Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Verizon Wireless, Macy’s, Mary Kay and the US Department of

Spearheaded Break the Cycle’s 2011 winning-entry in the Chase

Conceived and led design of the public engagement arm for Love is Respect four-state Start Talking campaign, in partnership with Blue

Cross and Blue Shield.

Campaign included distribution of 1,000 outreach kits and over

500,000 print materials to teens, parents, advocates and health

care professionals in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

R E S P E C T W E E K

In collaboration with the Love Is Respect Youth Advisory Board, I led the development of a peer-

driven advocacy week held in conjunction with February’s Teen

Dating Violence Awareness Month.

This week-long campaign (now preparing for its third year)

included activities such as a Color Day, Candlelight Vigil, Peer-Driven

Presentations and the National Resepct Announcement. Since it’s launch, the Respect Week guide has been downloaded by over

100,000 teens, young adults and advocates in the field.

H E A R M Y V O I C E

Conceived, designed and implemented the first national

dating violence awareness campaign for LGBTQ youth,

funded by the US Department of Justice, Verizon Wireless and the Geffen Foundation. Included

outreach kit, personalized resources, microsite and in-person presence in Austin, Chicago, D.C.

and Los Angeles.
