1 TeleObserver TO1200

In deciding for the TeleObserver you have made a good choice. The device uses modern technologies

for data graphic compression, achieving a very good image quality and, depending on the model, a

speed between 3 images/s and 15 images/s. Through the employed technology the device is flexibly

applicable and easy to operate. The TeleObserver can transmit video data via the integrated modem

or via an external modem over various telephone networks.

Together with the TeleObserver you have received a software package containing the Central Moni-

toring Software for receiving and displaying video sequences from the TeleObserver on your PC and

for playing and analyzing the stored videos.

We wish you best results working with our product!

1.1 TO1200 Models

The TeleObserver TO1200 is available in three different variants:

� TeleObserver TO1200 GPRS

equipped with an internal GSM/GPRS/CDMA modem

� TeleObserver TO1200 ISDN

equipped with an internal ISDN modem

� TeleObserver TO1200 DX

has no internal modem and is designed for the flexible operation with external modems, e.g. GSM,

ISDN, PSTN or satellite modems

All models are connected to the power supply system through the supplied power supply unit and are

equipped with the following interfaces:

� 4 video inputs

� 1 serial interface for control applications (RS232 or RS485)

� 1 serial interface for an external modem (only TO1200 DX)

� 6 sensor inputs / 2 actuators

� 1 audio socket (only TO1200 GPRS, TO1200 ISDN)

� 1 antenna socket, 1 SIM card holder (only TO1200 GPRS)

1.2 Safety Warnings

The TeleObserver may not be opened under any circum stances.

The TeleObserver may not be operated in the immediate neighborhood of strong electrical, electro-

magnetic or magnetic fields.

To protect the TeleObserver and/or the attached per ipheral devices from damage, all necessary connecting cables (RS232 cable, camera connecting ca ble and, if necessary, the headset cable) are to be connected and disconnected being the Tele Observer and the periphery devices switched off.

For the operation of the TeleObserver use exclusively the original components or the products rec-

ommended by the manufacturer such as the power pack, modems and cameras. Should any problem

arise please contact your specialized dealer. For details, see chapter 8.

� Do not subject the device to the influence of shock, impacts and vibrations, as well as chemicals, high humidity, heat or sun radiation.

� The recommended operation temperature lies between 0°C and 50°C (32°F and 122°F). Higher or lower environmental temperatures can lead to damages in the equipment.

This is a class A product. In a domestic environmen t this product may cause radio interference in which case the user may be required to take adequat e measures.

Warning only for TO1200 GPRS

Integrated in the TeleObserver TO1200 GRPS there is a GSM/GPRS/CDMA mobile modem. Hence,

its usage is subject to the same operational restrictions as any other mobile phone:

� The use of mobile radio services is forbidden in aircrafts.

� The mobile wireless device is not to be used near filling stations, fuel deposits, chemical factories and while working with explosives.

� The mobile wireless device could affect the function of medical devices (hearing aid, pacemaker, etc.) if these are not properly shielded. In case of doubts, please consult your physician.

� Do not touch the antenna during the transmission of data.

� If the device is used in the neighborhood of electronic devices (e.g. radio, TV, PC) it may happen that the transmission quality is affected.

2.1 Display of the Control States

After switching on the TeleObserver, the LED (1) shows the current operation modes.

The LED has three colors: RED, YELLOW and GREEN as well as long , medium and short

blinking signals that are repeated in cycles.

3 Getting Started

This introduction to the TeleObserver and the Central Monitoring Software contains the necessary

steps from the starting of the system to the first display of live images by using a null modem connec-

tion. If you want establish another type of connection (for example GSM or GPRS) or if you have fur-

ther questions please read carefully the detailed specifications in the corresponding section of this

manual or of the "Central Monitoring Software – User Manual".

Quick installation of CMS and TeleObserver

� Install the central monitoring software (CMS) on the local PC. Follow the instructions appearing on the screen during the installation. Configure connection, host, user, archives, permissions on the PC (see also chapter 4.2 – 4.4 in manual "Central Monitoring Software - User Manual").

� Unpack the TeleObserver and all the accessories.

� Establish a null modem connection between the TeleObserver and the Windows PC by using the delivered service cable (see also section 4.7).

� Connect the TeleObserver to the power supply with the power supply unit (see also section 4.1).

� Connect at least one video camera to the video inputs "Video IN 1...4 " and switch on the cameras (see also section 4.2).

� Transmit video sequences via the CMS software module "Vision ". Start the CMS module "Vision ". Establish a connection to the TeleObserver TO1200 device.

� for TO1200DX matching the modem on the transmitter side

In general, the TeleObserver software supports the following device classes for the communica-tion:

For a video connection:

� ISDN cards and terminal adaptors with installed CAPI interface

� internal or external data modems installed under Windows with TAPI interface

� null-modem connections through a serial interface (COM port)

� most data modems attached to a serial interface, but not installed under Windows, if they are compatible with a standard AT command set

For an audio connection:

� ISDN cards and terminal adaptors with installed CAPI interface and voice functions

� most voice modems attached to a serial interface, but not installed under Windows, if they are compatible with a standard AT command set

4 Operation the TeleObserver TO1200

The operation of the TeleObserver takes place by re mote control via the Central Station. A direct operation of the TeleObserver is not neces sary.

4.1 Power Supply

Connect the delivered power supply unit to the DC connector and then to the power supply system. As

soon as the TeleObserver is connected, the blue power-LED lights up and the device is ready for

use.The power supply unit allows an AC voltage of 100 - 240V; 50/60Hz.

The TO1200 GSM and TO1200 GPRS/CDMA can be directly operated by means of 12V car power. A

suitable connector cable is available as accessory. For the operation with 24V car power a standard

commercial 24V to 12V DC converter is additionally needed.

4.2 Connection of the Video Cameras

All commercial available video, surveillance and industrial cameras with analog standard video output

signal (CVBS) can be connected to the TeleObserver. For this purpose use the video

inputs IN 1…4. In the TeleObserver, Camera 1 is by default the one whose images are immediately

shown after a connection is established.

Recommendation: If you connect less than 4 cameras, we recommend to start with video input IN1.

4.3 Connection of the Antenna (GPRS/CDMA Devices)

Any standard GSM antenna with a FME plug can be connected to the TeleObserver. Connect the

FME plug with the antenna connector of the TeleObserver and align the antenna with the nearest

transmitting station. For a good transmission quality it is better to place the antenna outdoors. Test the

quality of the transmission with a mobile radio device with a field force display.

For an optimal installation of a GSM antenna, or in case of difficulties in the reception, please con-tact your mobile phone company.

4.4 Insertion of the SIM Card (GPRS/CDMA Devices)

For the internal GSM modem of the TO1200 GPRS/CDMA you need a 3 Volt, 900 MHz or 1800 MHz SIM card. The SIM card has to be enabled for the data transfer. For the internal GPRS modem of theTO1200 GPRS/CDMA you need a 1,8V/ 3 Volt, 900 MHz or 1800 MHz SIM/RUIM card. The SIM/RUIM card of the GPRS/CDMA d evice has to be enabled for GPRS/CDMA and for data transfer. If questions or problems with your SIM card arise, p lease contact your mobile phone company.

� Open the SIM/RUIM card holder (9) by pressing the yellow button with a pointed object.

� Insert the SIM/RUIM card with care. Please note the cut corner in the card and in the card holder.

� Slide the holder, with the contacts of the SIM/RUIM card facing up, carefully into the TO1200.

4.5 Insertion of the SIM/RUIM Card PIN (only GSM/GP RS/CDM Devices)

The PIN of the TeleObserver SIM/RUIM card has to be e ntered before using the TeleObserver for the first time.

� Connect the TeleObserver through a service cable with the Central Station, set up a null modem connection and start it.

� Start the Central Monitoring Software, module SystemManagement .

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose SIM/RUIM-PIN you will set.

� Select in the dialog explorer the entry Passwords .

� Enter the PIN in the fields SIM-PIN and Confirmation and confirm with OK.

� Click in the tool bar the Save button.

� Click in the tool bar the Transmitting button. The establishing of the connection starts.

� The connection will be established and the data will be transmitted to the TeleObserver. Click the OK button.

4.6 Serial Interface COM1 or RS485

To connect the TeleObserver with another device ove r the serial interface, it is necessary that both devices are disconnected from power supply.

Either the COM1 interface or the RS485 interface can be used. Both interfaces cannot be used at the same time.

The serial interface COM 1 can be employed for the following tasks:

� Direct connection to a Windows PC over service cable (see section 4.7).

� Connection of an external modem for data transfer. Connect the modem in question to the TeleObserver with a serial cable (see also section 4.13).

For lines longer than 10 meters it is recommended to use the RS485 interface.

The serial interface RS485 can be employed for the following tasks:

� Connection of external devices for camera control.

4.7 Direct Connection with the Service Cable

We recommend the null modem connection for the following tasks:

� function test of the TeleObserver and the cameras connected to it

� configuration of the TeleObserver

Procedure:

� Connect the serial interface COM 1 of the TO1200 and the PC with the service cable.

� Connect the TeleObserver to power supply.

� Start the Central Monitoring Software, module SystemManagement .

� Select in the tree diagram the item Hosts .

� The dialog Hosts opens.

� Click the New button in the tool bar.

� A new line is added to the list of hosts.

� Enter a name for the connection.

� Select in field "Type " the value TeleObserver.

� Select in field "Protocol/Device " the value null modem .

� Change in the field "Port settings " the value

SPEED=<Bitrate>,FLOW=RTSCTS:<Comport>

so that the parameters "Bit rate " and "COM port " correspond with the values of the COM port of the Central Station.

The "1" at the end of the value represents the COM1 port of the Central Station. You must insert the number "2" at the end of the value, if t he service cable is connected to the COM2 port of the Central Station.

� Enter the access code. (Factory default: 0000)

� The access code can be modified during a connection in the remote configuration of the TeleObserver.

� The data is automatically copied into the new line.

� Click the Save Button in the tool bar.

� Initiate a connection by selecting the button Connect in the tool bar.

4.8 Serial Interface COM2 (only TO1200 DX)

To connect the TeleObserver with another device ove r the serial interface, it is necessary that both devices are disconnected from power supply.

The serial interface COM 2 is only available in the version TO1200 DX. It facilitates a flexible connec-

tion of an external modem, without affecting the function of the interfaces COM 1 or RS485.

The following modem types are supported by this interface:

� Null modem for a direct connection to a Central Station by means of a service cable.

� AT modem for a data connection

Connect the modem in question to the TeleObserver with a serial cable (see also section 4.13).

4.9 GPRS Connection (only TO1200 GPRS/CDMA)

4.9.1 GPRS Connection via DR.TOX Registry Server

In most cases the TeleObserver and the Central Station works with dynamical IP-addresses. A registry

server will be used to administrate these IP-addresses. With each log in to the GPRS network the

devices send their current IP-addresses to the DR.TOX registry server. If a connection is to be estab-

lished, the transmitting device gets the IP-address of the receiving device from the DR.TOX registry

server. The DResearch company operates an own DR.TOX registry server which can be used for

GPRS connections.

Input of the Registry Server Address

The IP-address of the registry server must be saved in the TeleObserver and in the CMS.

See also section 6.12. Connection Configuration in the TeleObserver

The TeleObserver can establish an alarm connection or a timer connection to the Central Station.

Choose in the dialogs "Alarm parameter " and "Timer " the protocol type "TOX" if the registry server

should be used. Enter in the field "Number/Address" the station name of the Central Station.

Connection Configuration in the CMS

When using the registry server, choose in the host settings, field "Protocol/device ", the entry TCP/IP

TOX and enter in the field "Serial number " the serial number of the TeleObserver. In the lower dialog

area, field "Own station name " enter a unique name for the Central Station.

4.9.2 Direct GPRS Connection

To establish a direct GPRS connection between the TeleObserver and the Central Station both

devices must have a fixed and public IP-address.

It may happen that your network provider receives a nd buffers IP connections without the host being really available. It may take several minutes until the device detects this behavior.

Connection Configuration in the TeleObserver

To establish a GPRS connection from the TeleObserver to the Central Station the IP-address of the

Central Station may be entered in two different dialogs, depending on the wished connection type. For

an alarm connection, enter the IP-address in the dialog "Alarm Parameter ", field "Number/Address" .

For a timer connection enter the IP-address in the dialog "Timer ", field

"Telephone number/Address ". In both dialogs select in the field "Protocol " the type TCP.

Connection Configuration in the CMS

The IP-address of the TeleObserver will be set in the CMS module SystemManagement , dialog

Hosts .

4.10 Connection of Audio Devices (TO1200 GSM, TO120 0 ISDN)

Different audio devices, like a headset (special accessory) or a vehicle hands-free speaking system,

can be connected to the audio connector of the TeleObserver.

4.10.1 Indications for the Audio function of the TO 1200 GSM

The use of the audio connector requires the SIM card of the TeleObserver TO1200 GSM to have a

voice number as well.

Only one TeleObserver number can be called; either the data number to transmit video data, or the voice number, to transmit speech.

4.11 Multifunctional Interface (Control)

With the control interface you can use the following TeleObserver features:

� two actuators Universal potential-free actuators (converters), to be used, for instance, to activate remote systems. The actuators can be activated while a connection is currently running, by clicking on the symbols in the tree in the CMS module "Vision ".

� six detector inputs Detectors 1 - 5 can be remotely configured as normally closed or normally open. Detector 6 is configured as normally open. It can be used to connect the TeleObserver to an ac-tive/inactive – switch.

The systems and detectors can be connected to the TeleObserver by means of the "plug set for detec-

tor/actuator connection". The detectors are activated in the CMS, module "SystemManagement" (see

section 7.2.12).

4.11.1 Functional Connector Pin Out of Detector Inp uts

� Detector 1-5: "Alarm detector"

� Camera assignment: freely selectable cameras 1-4

� Alarm action: dial alarm number and additional freely selectable actions

� Detector 5: "Pre-alarm control" (detector 5 can be used either for the pre-alarm release or as alarm detector)

� Alarm action: none

� Detector 6 : "Active-Inactive-Switch"

� Camera assignment: none

� Alarm action: when active, then the selected detectors are deactivated

4.12 Activating the Internal Modem (only TO1200 GSM , TO1200 GPRS)

The internal modem of the TeleObserver is deactivated upon delivery and has to be activated before

the TeleObserver is used for the first time.

Please note that the internal modem should only be a ctivated if the SIM card PIN has previously been entered correctly (see also section 0).

� Connect the TeleObserver through a service cable with the Central Station, set up a null modem connection and start it (see also section 4.7).

� Start the Central Monitoring Software, module "SystemManagement ".

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose internal modem you will activate.

� Select in the dialog explorer the entry Modem .

� Activate the check box "Use Internal Modem " in "Modem settings ".

� Click in the tool bar the Save button.

� Click in the tool bar the Transmitting button. The establishing of the connection starts.

� The dialog "Enter your Pin " opens. Enter the configuration PIN of the TeleObserver. Confirm the PIN by clicking the OK button.

� The connection will be established and the data will be transmitted to the TeleObserver. Click the OK button.

4.13 Connection of an External Modem

An external modem can be connected to the TeleObserver using the serial interface "COM 1" (8). In

the model TO1200 DX the serial interface "COM 2" (12) serves the same purpose.

The external modem has to use the AT command set. All modem settings (transfer protocol, parame-

ters) are to be stored as standard values.

For questions concerning the installation and line-up of your modem, please read the modem manual.

Procedure:

� Connect the serial interface (12) of the TeleObserver with that of the external modem by means of a modem connecting cable.

� Connect the external modem to the telephone network.

� Switch on the external modem.

� Connect the TeleObserver to the power supply.

5 Operating Modes of the TeleObserver

5.1 Video Transmission

The data transfer can be triggered by any of the following actions:

� a video transmission was started by the Central Monitoring Software

� the transmission was started by the alarm of the TeleObserver

The device is activated and sends data to the Central Station, which stores them.

A time shift can occur between the image recording and the display on the Central Monitoring

Software due, for instance, to interference during the transmission or to the duration of the connection

setup.

5.2 Stand-by Mode

The Central Monitoring Software is in stand-by mode and waits for incoming calls from the

TeleObserver.

5.3 Alarm Situation

Whenever the pre-alarm archive is being used, the TeleObserver records continuously into a ring

archive. It is possible to configure the size of the archive as well as the video parameters. If an exter-

nal alarm is signalled by one of the connected and activated sensors then the relevant area (configur-

able) of the ring archive will be blocked.

At the same time, the modem will call the predefined numbers one after the other until a connection to

the Central Station is established. The TeleObserver will continue to record until the connection to the

Central Station is achieved.

The TeleObserver can temporarily store data for some minutes, depending on the defined alarm bit

rate. After the connection is established, the current situation will be shown. The stored pre-

alarm/alarm pictures can be separately retrieved through the software module "ImageFinder". The

images from the pre-alarm/alarm memory can be retrieved as many times as needed. The alarm

memory will be deleted by any of the following actions:

� Deleting in the ImageFinder

� Switching of detector 5 (if configured)

� Disconnecting the TeleObserver

5.4 Audio Transmission

With the audio function of the TeleObserver it is possible to listen to all conversations and noises in

the neighborhood of the TeleObserver, and also to speak out.

5.4.1 Audio function of the TeleObserver TO1200 GPR S

The audio connection to a TO1200 GPRS can only be established as an alternative to a video trans-

mission. To this aim, dial up with a telephone the TeleObserver SIM card voice number. The

TeleObserver accepts automatically the voice call and indicates it with the blinking signal (4) of the

state display.

6 Configure the TeleObserver TO1200

To configure the TO1200 use the CMS module "SystemManagement". More detailed information

about how to operate the CMS can be found in "Central Monitoring Software (CMS) User Manual".

The following sections describe the specific menus of the TO1200. In CMS SystemManagement,

establish a connection to a TeleObserver TO1200. After you have established a connection, you can

see the settings of the TeleObserver TO1200. Here you can change the default configuration of the

TeleObserver.

The name of your host appears in the right-hand side of the title bar (here 120-33-0705-6).

The left-hand side of the main window contains a tree diagram listing the available functions. Click the

+ and - buttons to expand or collapse the levels of the tree diagram.

Name Here you can enter a name for the TeleObserver. The name will be shown in the test image.

Device ID Here you can enter the telephone number of the TeleObserver.

The Central Station may uses the device ID to clearly identify the calling TeleObserver.

Time zone Here you can select the time zone valid for the TeleObserver device.

Update time Activate this check box if you want to update the time when the configuration data are transmitted.

Reboot TeleObserver after disconnect

Activate this check box if you want to reboot the TeleObserver after transmitting the configuration data.

6.2 Function Passwords

Use this dialog to enter or modify the password for the SIM/RUIM-PIN, the access code, the configura-

tion and the corresponding confirmations.

Field Description

SIM card – SIM PIN The PIN of the used SIM/RUIM card in the TeleObserver is registered here.

TeleObserver - Access code

The access code is a 4-digit number used to encrypt the data stream. This access code is employed for all incoming and outgoing connections of this TeleObserver.

Note: The access code entered in this field must coincide with the access code in the host settings for this TeleObserver in the Central Monitoring Software (see Central Monitoring Software User Manual, Section 6.5).

Factory default: 0000

Remote confi-guration – Password

Enter at most 16 characters in order to protect the TeleObserver configuration from modi-fications coming from a third party.

The password is saved in the TeleObserver after the button Transmitting has been pressed. The password must be then given when the TeleObserver is called again.

Confirmation After changing a password please confirm it once more in the field at the right.

Activate advanced authentication at dial-in

Activate this check box if an authentication is to be performed by the TeleObserver in the software module "Vision", while the connection is being established, before image data are sent.

6.3 Function Cameras

Use this dialog to define the standard settings for brightness, contrast and quality of the attached

cameras. Each camera will get its own settings. You can define the position of date/time in the video

image. Select the camera whose images should be displayed in "Vision" after establishing a connec-

tion.

Field Description

Default camera The name of the default camera will be displayed. After establishing a connection in the software module "Vision", the images of the default camera will be displayed first.

Date/Time position Select a radio button to define the position of date/time in the video image.

Top left Insert date/time at top left in the video image.

Bottom left Insert date/time at bottom left in the video image.

Top right Insert date/time at top right in the video image.

Bottom right Insert date/time at bottom right in the video image.

Video standard -

PAL Activate this radio button if all cameras connected to the TeleObserver supply a PAL video signal.

NTSC Activate this radio button if all cameras connected to the TeleObserver supply a NTSC video signal.

Overlay date/time in live im-ages

Activate this check box if you wish to see the date and the time in the live view (software module "Vision"). The images will be saved with date and time when the saving function is activated in "Vision".

Settings per camera In this dialog area you can define the standard settings for brightness, contrast and quality of the attached cameras.

Each camera has its own settings.

List of cameras List of the video inputs at the TeleObserver device. Select an entry to change the settings.

Camera name Here you can enter a name for the selected camera. In software module "Vision", the name will be shown in the tree and in the title bar of the video window. In software module "ImageFinder", the name will be displayed in the image infor-mation of the video window.

Quality Define here the quality value for the images transmitted by the selected camera.

Brightness Define here the brightness value for the images transmitted by the selected cam-era.

Contrast Define here the contrast value for the images transmitted by the selected camera.

6.4 Function Detectors

� assign a name to the detector

� define the detector type

Select a timer to change the settings.

Activate timer Activate the check box if the selected timer is to be activated.

Name Shows the name of the timer. The name can be changed.

By default the name "Timer" with a serial number will be assigned.

Interval Enter here the time (in minutes) with which the TeleObserver is to establish regularly a video connection to the Central Station or to carry out the specified actions.

The first interval starts as soon as the configuration is sent to the TeleObserver.

Maximum interval length: 65536 minutes (approx. 45 days)

Camera 1 - Camera 4 Activate the radio button of the camera whose images are to be displayed on the Central Station when the connection is established.

Activities Select one or more activities which are to be started by the TeleObserver.

If more than one activity are selected the TeleObserver carries them out in the following order:

� switch relay

� send text message

� dial telephone number

Send text message Only for GSM/GPRS devices!

Activate this check box if a text message is to be sent when a timer is activated.

The text message will be sent to the mobile number inserted in the function "Alarm parameter" field "Send to" (see section 0).

Dial telephone number Activate this check box if a telephone number is to be called when the timer is active.

The fields "Telephone number", "Dial tries" and "Connection duration" must be filled in before activating this action.

6.6 Function Relay

Field Description

Relay 1 - Name Enter a name for relay 1. The name "Relay 1" is set by default.

Activate dial-in sig-naling via relay 1

Activate this check box if relay 1 is to be switched on while establishing a connection and switched off at the end of a connection.

If this check box is activated, relay 1 cannot be used for timer or alarm functions.

Relay 2 - Name Enter a name for relay 2. The name "Relay 2" is set by default.

6.7 Function Alarm Parameter

Define in this dialog the settings for the release of an alarm in the Central Station by the TeleObserver.

Field Description

Dial tries Enter a number for the amount of call trials that the TeleObserver should perform in case of an alarm. Unlimited dial tries can be performed for every alarm number.

Video bit rate for alarm recordings

Select here the video bit rate (in Bit/s) with which the alarm images are to be saved in the TeleObserver. The alarm images will be recorded until the connection to the Central Station is established.

Overlay date/time in alarm images

Select this check box if you want to see the date and time on the pre-alarm and alarm images in the live view.

Alarm numbers/ Addresses

Enter up to 4 alarm call numbers, IP-addresses or station names. In case of alarm, the TeleObserver will try to establish a connection using these numbers one after the other.

In TO1200 devices, all alarm numbers must support the data protocol entered in the dialog "ISDN Settings", field "Outgoing calls".

Please note that in TO1200 GSM devices the protocol of the TeleObserver modem must match the one of the Central Station.

For a direct GPRS connection to a TO1200 GPRS/CDMA device you must enter the IP-address (protocol type: TCP) of the Central Station. For a GPRS connections via the registry server you must enter the station name (protocol type: TOX) which is defined in the dialog "Host" of the SystemManagement.

Field Description

Protocol To every alarm number it is possible to assign a protocol to be used between the internal modem of the TeleObserver and the modem of the Central Station in case of an alarm. The supported protocols depend on the type of TeleObserver employed:

TeleObserver with internal GSM/GPRS/CDMA modem:

V.110 – for connections to GSM and ISDN modems

V.120 – not supported

V.34 – for connections to GSM and analog modems

X.75 – not supported

TCP – for direct connections to a CMS

TOX – for connections to a CMS initiated by the registry server (DR:TOX)

A warning message will be displayed if you choose a protocol which is not supported by the internal modem of the TeleObserver.

Use HSCSD Activate this check box if HSCSD is to be employed for alarm connections using the protocol V.110.

Use deblocking Only for TO1200 ISDN devices!

Activate this check box if a busy ISDN channel (e.g. with a live image) should be made free for an alarm call.

Send to Enter here the phone number of the cell telephone to which a text message is to be sent in case of alarm.

The action of sending a text message must be activated in the dialog "Detectors" (see section 6.4).

The number entered here will be also employed when the action "Send text message" is activated in the dialog "Timers" (see section 6.5).

Message Enter here the text that is to appear on the cell phone display in case of alarm once the connection has been established.

Messages may only contain ASCII characters. A maximum of 160 characters will be displayed.

Text messages may only contain ASCII characters. The following text modules are pre-defined and can be integrated into a message text.

"%t" = detector/timer time

"%d" = date

"%T" = timer name

"%A" = detector name

The text modules in the message are automatically replaced by the current value.

6.8 Function Pre-alarm Recordings

Define in this dialog the parameter for the pre-alarm recordings. As long as no alarm is triggered, the

video data will continue to be recorded in the pre-alarm archive. When the archive is full, the oldest

data will be overwritten. When an alarm is triggered, the video data will be recorded only until the

connection from the TeleObserver to the Central Station is established.

Once the connection exists, the pre-alarm archive becomes blocked for recordings. Further recording

can only take place when the pre-alarm archive is released.

Activate pre-alarm recordings

Activate the check box if you wish to record data into the pre-alarm archive.

Name Here you can enter a name for the pre-alarm archive. The name will be shown in software module "ImageFinder" in the tree.

Size Here you can enter the size of the pre-alarm archive. The maximum size depends on your TeleObserver model.

Sequence length The video data of the pre-alarm archive are divided into sequences. In this field you can define how long (in seconds) it should be recorded in a sequence.

The maximum possible length of a sequence is 60 seconds.

Release Select in this field the action through which you wish to release the pre-alarm archive.

ImageFinder

The pre-alarm archive will be released manually by the user in the Central Station, module "ImageFinder"(see also section 7.2.17).

Detector 5

The pre-alarm archive will be released by switching detector 5.

Blocked Enter in this field a period of time (in seconds) during which recordings will be blocked, counting back from the moment the alarm was triggered.

When an alarm occurs, the pre-alarm archive will receive recordings until the connection to the Central Station is established.

When a period of time is blocked, the pre-alarm images will be kept, even if the process of establishing the connection should take long.

Cameras Activate the check boxes of the cameras whose images are to be recorded in the pre-alarm archive.

If more than one camera is selected they will be recorded in rotation mode.

Compression Displays the compression method with which the data are compressed in the pre-alarm archive.

Video bit rate (Bit/s)

Select here the video bit rate (in Bit/s) with which the pre-alarm images are to be stored in the TeleObserver.

Quality Select here the quality with which the pre-alarm images are to be recorded.

A lower quality permits the recording of more images per second.

A higher quality permits the recording of less images per second.

Frame refresh rate Select here how many images per second in each camera are to be recorded in the pre-alarm archive.

The frame refresh rate depends on the already defined video bit rate and quality.

Information This dialog area displays the free memory capacity of the device, the currently defined size of the pre-alarm archive and how much time it can be recorded on the pre-alarm archive.

The length of the recording depends on the previously defined archive size, the bit rate, the quality and the frame refresh rate.

The value "recording time" includes the time of all video channels.

6.9 Function Snapshots

Define in this dialog the parameter for the snapshot archive and the snapshots.

Field Description

Activate snapshot recordings

Activate the check box if the snapshot function is to be activated.

Name Here you can enter a name for the snapshot archive. It will be created in the TeleObserver. The name will be displayed in the selection area of the "ImageFinder".

Size Enter the size of the snapshot archive. The maximum selectable size depends on the type of the TeleObserver.

Overlay date/time in snapshots

Activate this check box if you wish to see the date and the time in the snapshots. The snapshots will be saved with date and time when the snapshot function is activated in the software module "Vision".

Resolution Define here the resolution with which the snapshots are to be saved in the snapshot archive.

CIF: 352 x 288 pixel Field : 704 x 288 pixel

Quality Define here the quality with which the snapshots are to be saved in the snapshot archive.

A lower quality allows more snapshots to be saved. A higher quality allows less snapshots to be saved.

Information In this dialog area you get information about:

� the maximum available memory of the TeleObserver

� the current selected size of the pre-alarm archive

� the maximum available memory of the snapshot archive

� the current selected size of the snapshot archive

� the approximate number of snapshots that can be recorded

The number of snapshots depends on the defined archive size, the resolution and the quality.

Define in this dialog the parameters for bit rate, framing, flow control, modem initialization string and

modem dial string for an internal modem or the COM2 interface (only TO1200 DX) in the

TeleObserver.

Field Description

Bit rate Shows the maximum bit rate for the transmission between the internal modem and the TeleObserver.

Framing Shows the image format (number of data bits, parity, number of stop bits) of the serial interface of the TeleObserver.

Flow control Shows how is the data flow between the internal modem and the TeleObserver controlled:

RTSCTS - the data flow is controlled by the hardware

Video bit rate (Bit/s)

Select the maximum video bit rate (in Bit/s) with which the transmission between the TeleObserver and the Central Station is to take place.

Modem initialization In special cases it may be necessary to enter AT modem commands that are used for modem initialization. E.g. to set special connection protocols for some modem.

You should change these settings only if you are very familiar with that modem.

Attention: It is possible that the modem will be unusable after entering an unsuited command. In that case, you must connect to the TeleObserver without using that modem (e.g. through the service cable) and undo your changes. If this fails, you may reset the TeleObserver to factory default only by using the service cable (see also section 8.3)

Modem init string In special cases it may be necessary to enter a non usual AT modem command that is used to initiate a connection. E.g. to set special connection protocols for some modem.

You should change these settings only if you are very familiar with that modem.

6.12 Function GPRS Settings (only TO1200 GPRS)

Define in this dialog the GPRS/CDMA access data of the TeleObserver, the parameters for the

DR.TOX registry server and the connection type for the internal GRRS/CDMA modem in the

TeleObserver. If questions or problems with the access data User name , Password , Access point

and Telephone number arise, please contact your GPRS provider. The connection between the

TeleObserver device and the Central Station may be established either via the TOX registry server or

directly.

If the GPRS function is activated and the settings a re transmitted to the device, the TeleObserver will immediately registered into the GPRS/CDMA networ k and expenses are incurred at this mo-ment. It is recommended to observe at the beginning the c osts of registration and transmission, because of the different GPRS/CDMA billing systems of the pro viders.

Dial in Activate the check box if the GPRS/CDMA function is to be activated.

Allow direct connec-tions

Activate the check box to enable the TeleObserver for direct incoming connections from the Central Station.

In this case the TeleObserver and the Central Station must have a fixed and reachable IP-address.

User name Enter the user name that the TeleObserver has to use in order to dial into the GPRS/CDMA network.

Password Enter the password that the TeleObserver has to use for the GPRS/CDMA login.

Access point Enter the access point (APN) of your GPRS provider that the TeleObserver has to use.

In CDMA networks no APN must be specified.

Usually the TeleObserver and the Central Station have dynamical IP-addresses. At each log in to the GPRS network the devices send their current IP-addresses to the DR.TOX registry server. The DR.TOX registry server administrates the IP-addresses. If a connec-tion should be established the transmitting device gets the IP-address of the receiving device from the DR.TOX registry server.

6.13 Function Caller List

Use the function "Caller list" to set a dial-in filter. You can start a caller list to define which incoming

calls should be accepted (white list) or refused/ignored (black list) from the internal modem of the

TeleObserver. The internal modem of the TeleObserver can only manage one type of caller list at a

time. If you define no caller list, the TeleObserver accepts all incoming calls.

Activate caller lists Activate this check box if the caller lists are to be applied.

Reset the alarm list In case of alarm the alarm numbers of the caller list (marked by a red bell) will be activated (white list) or blocked (black list).

Select in this field the action through which you wish to reset the alarm numbers in the caller list when the alarm is finished.

Software controlled The alarm numbers of the caller list will be automatically reset 15 minute after finishing the alarm.

Detector 5 The alarm numbers of the caller list will be reset by switching detector 5.

Caller list type Here you can select a type to be assigned to the caller list.

The following list types are possible:

� Accept only numbers from this list Select this list type if the dial-in to the TeleObserver should be rejected for all telephone numbers in this list.

� Reject numbers from this list Select this list type if the dial-in to the TeleObserver should be rejected for all telephone numbers in this list.

� Ignore numbers from this list Select this list type if the dial-in to the TeleObserver should be ignored for all telephone numbers in this list.

Import alarm num-bers (button)

Click this button if you want to import into the caller list the alarm numbers which were defined in the function "alarm parameter".

Caller list All telephone numbers are listed here.

Select a caller list entry to change its settings.

Activation To every telephone number it can be assigned one of the following activations:

� Always - Telephone number is always considered

� At alarm only - Telephone number is considered in case of an alarm

� Unused - Telephone number is ignored

If the activations "Always" or "At alarm only" are inactive, it means there are already 5 telephone numbers assigned to these activations.

Telephone number Here you can enter or change the telephone number for a caller list entry.

6.14 Function External Modem /COM1

Define in this dialog the parameters for bit rate, framing, flow control, modem initialization string and

modem dial string for an external modem in the TeleObserver.

Bit rate Enter here the bit rate for the communication between the external modem and the TeleObserver. The interface speed of your external modem can be found in the manual of the modem manufacturer.

Flow control Choose in the list how is the data flow between the external modem and the TeleObserver to be controlled:

� RTSCTS - the data flow is controlled by the hardware

� Xon/Xoff - the data flow is controlled by the software

� None - the data flow is not controlled

Select the minimum video bit rate (in Bit/s) with which the transmission between the TeleObserver and the Central Station is to take place.

7.1.1 Setup the Host Properties for a ISDN /GSM Con nection

Use the following actions if you want to define and set up an ISDN/GSM connection between the

Central Station and a TeleObserver device.

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

Procedure:

� In the tree diagram, select the Hosts entry.

� The "Hosts" dialog opens.

� Click the New button in the toolbar.

� A new line is added to the list of hosts.

� In the fields over the list field, enter the name and select in the field "Type" the value TeleObserver.

� Select in the field "Protocol/Device" one of the following protocols: ISDN X.75 - for ISDN - ISDN connections ISDN V.110 - for ISDN - GSM, GSM - GSM connections ISDN V.120 - for ISDN - GSM, GSM - GSM connections

� Enter in the field "Telephone number" the number of the TeleObserver device.

� Enter the access code. Factory default: 0000

� The data is automatically copied into the new line.

� Set up archives by clicking the Setup archives button.

� The "SystemManagement" dialog opens. Here you can select the archives that you want to set up.

� Suggestion: click Yes, all. Three archives will be installed for each host. Please configure the archives, use the menu Database - Archives (see also Central Monitoring Software manual, section 10.5.1).

Use the following actions if you want to define and set up a null modem connection between the

Central Station and a TeleObserver device.

� The "Hosts" dialog opens.

� Click the New button in the toolbar.

� A new line is added to the list of hosts.

� In the fields over the list field, enter the name and select in the field "Type" the value TeleObserver.

� Select in the field "Protocol/Device" the value null modem.

� Change in the field "Port settings" the default value SPEED=<Bit rate>,FLOW=RTSCTS:<Comport> so that the parameter "Bit rate" and "COM port" correspond with the values of the COM port of the PC.

The "1" at the end of the value represents the COM1 port of the Central Station. You must insert the number "2" at the end of the value, if t he service cable is connected to the COM2 port of the Central Station.

� Enter the access code. (Factory default: 0000)

� The data is automatically copied into the new line.

� Set up archives by clicking the Setup archives button.

� The "SystemManagement" dialog opens. Here you can select the archives that you want to set up.

� Suggestion: click Yes, all. Three archives will be installed for each host. Please configure the archives, use the menu Database - Archives (see also Central Monitoring Software manual, section 10.5.1).

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

Central Station and a TeleObserver TO1200 GPRS.

� The "Hosts" dialog opens.

� Click the New button in the toolbar.

� A new line is added to the list of hosts.

� In the fields over the list field, enter the name and select in the field "Type" the value TeleObserver.

� Select in the field "Protocol/Device" the value TCP/IP BlueLine.

� Enter in the field "Address" the IP-address of the TO1200 GPRS.

Make sure that the entered IP-address is fixed and reachable (not blocked by masking).

� Enter the access code (Factory default: 0000). The access code can be modified during a connection in the remote configuration of the TeleObserver.

� The data is automatically copied into the new line.

� Set up archives by clicking the Setup archives button.

� The "SystemManagement" dialog opens. Here you can select the archives that you want to set up.

� Suggestion: click Yes, all. Three archives will be installed for each host. Please configure the archives, use the menu Database - Archives (see also Central Monitoring Software manual, section 10.5.1).

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

and a TeleObserver TO1200 GPRS device initiated by the registry server.

� The CMS has a dynamically and reachable IP-address.

Procedure:

� In the tree diagram, select the Hosts entry.

� The "Hosts" dialog opens.

� Click the New button in the toolbar.

� A new line is added to the list of hosts.

� In the fields over the list field, enter the name and select in the field "Type" the value TeleObserver.

7.1.5 Setup the Registry Server Properties on the C entral Station

Before you may establish a connection to a TO1200 GPRS/CDMA device via a registry server you

must set the server parameters in the Central Station. After this, the Central Station will be

automatically registered at the server.

Preconditions:

� Only for TO1200 GPRS devices!

� The Central Station is integrated into the network and has a reachable IP-address.

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

Procedure:

� In the tree diagram, select the System - Connections- TeleObserver entry.

� The "Connections" dialog opens.

� Set the "On/Off" check box to On (tick appears).

� Activate in the dialog area "Network connections" the check boxes "On/Off" and "Use registry server".

� In the field "IP-address", enter the IP-address of the registry server in standard dot-format.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Initializing button in the toolbar. The system is automatically reinitialised.

7.2 Configuration of the TeleObserver

All standard settings and parameters of the TeleObserver are transmitted by the Central Monitoring

Software, stored in the TeleObserver and used as default settings for the next connections.

7.2.1 Establish a Connection too a TeleObserver

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� At least one host must exist.

Procedure:

� Click the Connect button in the toolbar. The dialog "Connection" opens.

� Select the corresponding host from the list and click the OK button. The connection establishment starts.

� The dialog "Remote configuration password" opens. Enter the remote configuration password of the TeleObserver and click the OK button.

� The connection establishment will continue. Click the OK button.

� The user interface of the TeleObserver device opens.

7.2.2 Change Remote Configuration Password

The TeleObserver configuration can be protected from unauthorized modifications by means of a con-

figuration password.

The configuration password will be always requested at the beginning of the TeleObserver remote

configuration.

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� At least one host must exist.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose remote configuration password is to be changed.

� In the tree diagram, select the Passwords entry.

� Enter the new password in the field "Remote configuration – Password" and repeat it in the field "Confirmation".

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.3 Change Access Code

The access code is used for the codification of the video data. A successful transmission of the video

data is only possible if the access code in the TeleObserver and the configuration of the connection

coincide. The access code is at most a 4-digit number.

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� At least one host must exist.The access code must be changed at two places, in the

TeleObserver and in the host configuration of the Central Station.

Procedure:

Change the Access Code in the TeleObserver

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose access code is to be changed.

� In the tree diagram, select the Passwords entry.

� Enter the new password in the field "TeleObserver – Access code" and repeat it in the field "Confir-mation".

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

Change the Access Code in the Host Configuration

� In the tree diagram, select the Hosts entry.

� The dialog "Hosts" opens.

� Select the corresponding host in the list.

� Enter the new access code in the field "Access code".

� Click the Save button in the toolbar. The new access code will be saved in the host configuration.

7.2.4 Setup Camera Parameter

Use this dialog to define the standard settings for brightness, contrast and quality of the attached

cameras.

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose camera settings are to be changed.

� In the tree diagram, select the Cameras entry.

� In the dialog area "Settings per camera", select in the camera list the camera whose settings are to be changed.

� Use the slider to set the values for brightness, contrast and quality. You can move the slider either with the mouse or via the arrow keys.

� In the field "Camera name” you may replace the default name by a specific name.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

Note: Important information can be lost in the pict ures if extreme values for brightness and contrast are chosen.

7.2.5 Overlay Date/Time into the Live View

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose camera settings are to be changed.

� In the tree diagram, select the Cameras entry.

� Activate the check box "Overlay date/time in live images".

� In the dialog area "Position date/time", activate the corresponding check box to define the position of date/time in the live view.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.6 Configure Timer – Activity "Dial Telephone Nu mber"

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose timer parameters are to be configured.

� In the tree diagram, select the Timer entry.

� In the timer list, select the timer whose parameters you will configure.

� In the field "Name" you may replace the default name by a specific name.

� In the field "Interval", enter the time (in minutes) in which the TeleObserver is to regularly establish a video connection to the Central Station.

� Activate in the dialog area "Cameras" the radio button of the camera whose images should be dis-played if the timer is activated.

� Select in the dialog area "Activities" the activity "Dial telephone number".

� Enter in the field "Telephone number" the telephone number to which the connection should be es-tablished by the TeleObserver. Use no spaces or special characters.

� Enter in the field "Dial tries" how often is the TeleObserver to try to establish a connection to the Central Station.

� Enter in the field "Connection duration" how long is the connection to be active.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

The Launcher must be started on the Central Station to receive timer-released calls from a TeleObserver.

� In the dialog area "Text message settings", field "Send to", enter the telephone number of the mobile telephone to that the text message should be sent when the timer is activated.

� In the dialog area "Text message settings", field "Message", enter the text which should be sent when the timer is activated.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

� In the timer list, select the timer which is to be deactivated.

� Deactivate the check box "Activate timer".

� Repeat the steps 3 and 4 if more than one timer should be deactivated.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.10 Insert Alarm Numbers

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver to which you wish to assign alarm numbers.

� In the tree diagram, select the Alarm parameters entry.

� In the dialog area "Alarm numbers", enter up to 4 alarm numbers. In case of an alarm the TeleObserver will dial the numbers sequentially until a connection is established or the number of dial tries is reach.

� In the field "Dial tries", enter how often the dialing of the alarm numbers should be repeated if the connection cannot be established immediately. The number of dial tries relates to the sum of all calling numbers.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.11 Configure Detectors

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

� The alarm telephone numbers are defined (see section 7.2.10).

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose detectors are to be configured.

� In the tree diagram, select the Detectors entry.

� In the detector list, select the detector whose parameters you will configure.

� In the field "Name" you may replace the default name by a specific name.

� In the field "Type", select the type of the detector.

� In the dialog area "Cameras", activate the radio button of the camera whose images should be displayed on the Central Station when an alarm is triggered.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

The Launcher must be started on the Central Station to receive detector-released calls from a TeleObserver.

7.2.13 Deactivate Detectors

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

� The detector is activated.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose detectors are to be deactivated.

� In the tree diagram, select the Detectors entry.

� In the detector list, select the detector which is to be deactivated.

� Deactivate the check box "Activate detector".

� Repeat steps 3 and 4, if more than one detector is to be deactivated.

7.2.14 Activate Active/Inactive Switch

The active/inactive switch can be used to activate or deactivate the detectors which are connected to

the TeleObserver via an external switch.

Preconditions:

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose detectors are to be activated or deactivated via an active/inactive switch.

� In the tree diagram, select the Detectors entry.

� In the detector list, select the detector "Active/inactive switch".

� In the dialog area "Active/inactive switch", activate the check box "Activate active/inactive switch".

� Activate the check boxes of the detectors which are assigned to the active/inactive switch.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent.Click the OK button.

7.2.15 Blocking the Pre-alarm Archive

The blocking of part of the pre-alarm archive in case of alarm is always useful when the pre-alarm

archive is rather small or the recording time rather short. When an alarm occurs, the pre-alarm archive

will receive recordings until the connection to the Central Station is established. It is therefore possible

for all pre-alarm images to be overwritten by alarm images.

If the last pre-alarm images are to be at all events protected, you can define a period of time, counting

back from the moment an alarm is triggered, during which the alarm recording will be blocked.

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started and the corresponding host is defined in

the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose pre-alarm archives are to be blocked when an alarm is released.

� In the tree diagram, select the Pre-alarm recordings entry.

� In the field "Blocked", enter the period which is to be blocked.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.16 Configure Pre-alarm Archive – Release in Ima geFinder

The pre-alarm archive receives continuously recordings, and the oldest data will be overwritten. In

case of alarm, the pre-alarm archive receives no further recordings from the moment on when the

connection between the TeleObserver and the Central Station is established. After the alarm is ended,

the pre-alarm archive must be released for new recordings.

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose pre-alarm archives are to be released in the ImageFinder.

� In the tree diagram, select the Pre-alarm recordings entry.

� In the field "Release" select the entry ImageFinder.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.17 Releasing a Blocked Pre-alarm Archive in Ima geFinder

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

� The pre-alarm archive is blocked (see also section 7.2.16).

Procedure:

� In the software module "ImageFinder", establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose pre-alarm archive is blocked by an alarm.

� In the tree diagram, the symbol of the pre-alarm archive will be displayed.

� Open the context menu of the pre-alarm archive via a right mouse click on the name of the pre-alarm archive.

� In the context menu, select the entry Release.

� The pre-alarm archive in the TeleObserver will be released and is once more available for further recordings.

7.2.18 Configure Pre-alarm – Release by Detector 5

The pre-alarm archive receives continuously recordings, and the oldest data will be overwritten. In

case of alarm, the pre-alarm archive receives no further recordings from the moment when the con-

nection between the TeleObserver and the Central Station is established. After the alarm is ended, the

pre-alarm archive must be released for new recordings.

7.2.19 Releasing a Blocked Pre-alarm Archive by mea ns of Detector 5

Preconditions:

� A switch or a switch output of an alarm system is connected to the input "Sensor IN5"

of the control interface of the TeleObserver (see section 4.11).

� The pre-alarm archive configuration allows the release by means of detector 5 (see section

7.2.18).

� The pre-alarm archive is blocked by an alarm.

Procedure:

� Activate the switch connected to the input "Sensor IN5" of the control interface

7.2.20 Displaying the Pre-alarm Archive in the Modu le ImageFinder

Preconditions:

Procedure:

� In the software module "ImageFinder", establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose pre-alarm archive should be displayed.

� In the tree diagram, the symbol of the pre-alarm archive will be displayed.

� Click the button near the pre-alarm archive to open the list and display the pre-alarm files.

� Click on the corresponding pre-alarm file to display the images in the video window. If the pre-alarm images are displayed, the data will be automatically copied into the local search of the corresponding host.

7.2.21 Configure Snapshot Archive

Preconditions:

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose snapshots are to be configured.

� In the tree diagram, select the Snapshots entry.

� Activate the check box "Activate snapshot recordings".

� In the field "Name" you may replace the default name by a specific name. The name will be dis-played in the tree diagram in the software module ImageFinder.

� In the field "Size" enter the size (in MByte) for the snapshot archive. You can find information about the maximum adjustable size of the snapshot archive in the lower area of the snapshot. Please note that the number of snapshots which can be saved in the snapshot archive also depends on the resolution and quality of the snapshots (see section 0).

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.22 Configure Resolution and Quality of the Snap shots

Preconditions:

7.2.27 Configure External Modem

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose settings for the external modem should be de-fined (see section 4.7).

� In the tree diagram, select the Modem - External Modem/COM1 entry.

� In the field "Video Bit Rate", select the bit rate which can be transmitted maximal between the Central Station and the external modem of the TeleObserver. For more information and specifications please use the manual of the modem manufacturer.

� In the field "Framing", enter the image format (number of data bits, parity, number of stop bits) of the serial interface of the external modem.

� In the filed "Flow control", choose how is the data flow between the external modem and the TeleObserver to be controlled.

� In the field "Video Bit Rate", select the bit rate which can be transmitted maximal between the Central Station and the external modem of the TeleObserver. For more information and specifications please use the manual of the modem manufacturer.

� In the fields "Modem initialization" and "Modem init string", you may enter AT commands.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.28 Define ISDN Settings

In the ISDN settings you can define which Multiple Subscriber Numbers (MSN) is the TeleObserver to

use and you can also configure the corresponding protocols. Several MSNs can be assigned to the

same protocol. If no protocol is assigned to the MSNs of the TeleObserver, X.75 will be assigned by

default.

Preconditions:

� Only for TO1200 ISDN devices!

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a null modem connection to the TeleObserver whose settings for the internal ISDN modem should be defined.

� In the tree diagram, select the Modem - ISDN settings entry.

� In the toolbar, click the button New, to insert a new row into the list or select an entry in the list to change the MSN or to assign a new protocol.

� In the field "MSN", enter the MSN of the ISDN line to which the TeleObserver is connected.

� Repeat the steps 3 and 4 if you want to change the parameters of other MSN or protocols.

� In the field "Outgoing calls – protocol", select the protocol which is to be used for outgoing calls when a timer or detector is activated. After the selection of a protocol for outgoing calls the list of MSN numbers will be newly sorted. The first row will now show the protocol with its corresponding MSN which is to be used for outgoing calls.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.29 Define a Caller List (White List)

In order to define telephone numbers to which a dial-in to the TeleObserver is allowed, you can create

a white list. Telephone numbers not contained in the white list cannot dial into the TeleObserver.

Preconditions:

� Only for TO1200 ISDN devices!

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose settings for the white list are to be defined (see section 6.13).

� In the tree diagram, select the Modem - ISDN settings - Caller list entry.

� Select in the field "Caller list type" the entry Accept only numbers from this list.

� Click the New button in the toolbar to insert a new row in the caller list or select an entry from the list to change the settings.

� In the field "Telephone number", enter a telephone number.

� In the dialog area "Activation", select when the telephone number is allowed to dial-in to the TeleObserver.

� Always - dial-in is possible at any time

� At alarm only - dial-in is only possible if an alarm is registered at the TeleObserver.

� Repeat steps 4 to 6 if you wish to add further telephone numbers to the list. Please note that the caller list can contain at most 10 active numbers: up to 5 entries for each of the activations "Always" and "At alarm only".

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.30 Define a Caller List (Black List)

In order to define telephone numbers to which a dial-in to the TeleObserver is not allowed, you can

create a black list. All telephone numbers contained in the black list cannot dial into the TeleObserver.

Preconditions:

� Only for TO1200 ISDN devices!

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a connection to the TeleObserver whose settings for the white list are to be defined.

� In the tree diagram, select the Modem - ISDN settings - Caller list entry.

� Select in the field "Caller list type" the entry Reject numbers from this list or Ignore numbers from this list. "Reject number" means: During a dial-in trial to the TeleObserver, a signal will be sent from the TeleObserver's modem to the calling modem. "Ignore number" means: During a dial-in trial to the TeleObserver the calling modem gets no reac-tion from the TeleObserver.

� Click the New button in the toolbar to insert a new row in the caller list or select an entry in the list to change its settings.

� In the field "Telephone number", enter a telephone number.

� In the dialog area "Activation" select when the telephone number is allowed to dial-in to the TeleObserver.

� Always - dial-in is possible at any time

� At alarm only - dial-in is only possible if an alarm is registered at the TeleObserver.

� Repeat steps 4 to 6 if you wish to add further telephon0e numbers to the list. Please note, that the caller list can contain at most 10 active numbers: up to 5 entries for each of the activations "Always" and "At alarm only".

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

7.2.31 Define GPRS Settings

In the GPRS settings you can activate the GPRS functionality, define the GPRS parameters and you

can configure the connection duration and the IP-address of the registry server.

Preconditions:

� Only for TO1200 GPRS devices!

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a null modem connection to the TeleObserver whose settings for the internal GPRS modem should be defined (see section 6.12).

� In the tree diagram, select the Modem - GPRS settings entry.

� Select the check box Dial in to activate the GPRS function of the internal modem.

� Select the check box Allow direct connections if the connection between the TO1200 device and the Central Station should be established without using a registry server.

� Enter the data for user name, password and access point and telephone number in the corresponding fields that the TeleObserver needs in order to dial into the GPRS net.

� In the dialog area "Availability of the connection", select the type of availability by activating the corresponding radio button. If you choose "In intervals of" you must also set the values for "Duration" and "Pause". The interval cycle will be started each hour on the hour.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

7.2.32 Configure the Parameter of the Registry Serv er

In the GPRS settings you can enter the IP-address of the registry server. The settings for the registry

server must be made if the GPRS connection between the TeleObserver device and the

Central Station is to be established via a registry server.

Preconditions:

� Only for TO1200 GPRS devices!

� The Launcher and the SystemManagement are started.

� The corresponding host is defined in the system.

Procedure:

� Establish a null modem connection to the TeleObserver whose settings for the internal GPRS modem should be defined (see section 6.12).

� In the tree diagram, select the Modem - GPRS settings entry.

� Select the check box Dial in to activate the GPRS function of the internal modem.

� In the dialog area "Registry server", activate the check box "Log on".

� Enter in the field "IP-address" the IP-address of the registry server in standard dot-format.

� Click the Save button in the toolbar.

� Click the Transmitting button in the toolbar. The connection establishment starts.

� The connection establishment will be finished and the data will be sent. Click the OK button.

8 Support

8.1 Warranty

The statutory warranty of 24 month for material and production faults applies. No other expressed or

tacit warranties are assumed. The manufacturer is not responsible for damages. The warranty rights

expire if repairs or intervention by persons not authorized by the manufacturer occur. Damages due to

improper use of the device, incorrect maintenance or use of accessories not recommended by the

manufacturer are not covered by the warranty.

The device is not to be opened on any account.

The manufacturer does not warranty that the programs and systems employed by the user will produc-

ing the advantages striven for. Should a warranty return take place, it is to be agreed first with the

manufacturer, else it will not be processed. The manufacturer does not take over transport damage or

transport insurance. Unstamped consignments will not be accepted.

If during a guarantee repair no defects are found, a flat-rate price for the processing will be charged.

8.2 Cleaning and Maintenance

� The case surfaces can be cleaned with a wet soft cloth.

� The device is never to be submerged in water.

� Besides an occasional cleaning of the case, no further maintenance is needed.

8.3 Firmware Update or Reset to Factory Defaults

In some cases it is necessary to reset to the factory defaults, for instance, if the TeleObserver cannot

be reached anymore due to inappropriate parameters in the remote configuration, or if you have

forgotten your configuration password. The firmware update or the reset to factory defaults requires a

null modem connection from the Central Station to the TeleObserver.

With firmware update or reset to factory defaults a ll parameters in the dialog "TeleObserver Remote Configuration" will be set back to the facto ry defaults. All previously set parameters will then be overwrit ten. Therefore, this process of resetting to factory defaults should be carried out only when th e TeleObserver is really not reachable anymore.

The program to reset the factory defaults is included in the product CD. Please insert the product CD

in the drive of the Central Station, start the program "Firmware Update" and follow the

instructions on the screen.

8.4 Customer Service, Hotline

The support takes place in general through your dealer. He is able, thanks to our intensive technical

advice, to answer your questions concerning the optimal use of the device. In case you are dissatis-

fied with this support, please let us know. We are very interested in having competent dealers.

According to the variety of operation conditions it might be necessary to test your device on site or that

you provide all the information concerning hardware and software in order to understand the problem.

This saves a lot of check-back time. Your dealer makes a pre-test and eventually sends the device to

be repaired under guarantee. Send always the whole set of components (packing, printed material,

software, basic device and power supply unit) to be repaired. Please pay attention to the guarantee

statements.
