Draw a Gill and a Stripe using the Curved Line tool.

Color! It’s coloring time. Using the Fill bucket, color your Clown Fish.

Using the Fill Bucket to make the body light orange and the fins red. Using the Brush tool to make the eyes three different colors: dark blue spot on the bottom, light blue in the middle of the eye and white on the top of the eye.

Using the Curved line tool, outline the fins in medium orange, make yellow accents on the fins, off white accents, and brown accents for the body and gills. When you are done with your fish, it’s time to save him to new folders you have created.

Create FoldersCreate folder one on your Desktop called Cartoons. In this folder, we house all our files. Create another folder named images. It contains all our pictures we’re creating.

Draw the Clown Fish in 5 Different Picture PosesIt’s an early day off the coast of Madagascar, and this little Clown Fish is swimming near the bottom of the ocean. To make the fish appear as if he’s moving, we are drawing him in 5 different poses. The first pose is our Fish 1.png that we just created. The next 4 poses or frames each contain a tiny change to the fish’s body. Use your Select tool, draw a box around the piece of the body you need to move or change, and when you are happy with the picture, go to File, Save as, Fish 2.png, Fish 3.png, Fish 4.png, and Fish 5.png.

Swim little fish …swim! Actually, our little fish just seems to be sitting still on our screen. How can we move him?

2. Import the 5 different Fish pictures you have created.

3. With all the Fish pictures selected, go to the Edit tab and change the Duration to 1.00 second per frame or picture.

4. Play the movie and see if you like how the fish is moving? 5. Let’s add more the Warp effect and Dissolve the transitions. How does it look? Make Pan and Zoom

movements. Experiment and don’t forget to save. You may create many versions to play with and when you’re ready to share your video go to File, Save as Video. Use the recommended video saving defaults. Send me a copy for the Digital Animation for Kids website!

Challenges: AkilliLet’s make another strip and this time our Clown Fish has more character. His name is Akilli and he’s just swimming along … humming to himself when all of a sudden, a wriggly green friend worm pops into the picture. Akilli wants desperately to catch him and make take a little taste of the plump worm. We can draw the frames and then you can add more frames and more story. Make each frame or picture, one at a time and save each picture as it’s own Fish

1.png, Fish 2.png, Fish 3.png, and so on until you have at least 12 pictures that tell a story. Does the cute little work survive or is he fish food? Only you can decide! Below is a sample of my fish scenes all put together. Your scenes do not have to look like mine!
