Different types of shots

Establishing shot
• It is a shot to show where the film/series is based and/or the era it is set in.
Wide shot
• A wide shot is a shot in which you can get the main purpose of the shot but also a lot of the surroundings which can be really effevtive.
Medium shot
• This is a shot that is not too close but not far away either, and it is usally from the waist upwards.
Close up
• This shot zooms in on the actors face, it is usually shown to show emotion.
Medium close up
• This is in-between the medium shot and close up and is usually from the shoulders upwards.
Extreme close up
• This shot is basically just a more zoomed in version of a close up.
Point of view (POV)
• This is usually taken from one of the actors point of view so it gives off the effect that you are in their situation.
Over the shoulder
• This shot is normally used so it gives the effect that you are actually there with them in the scene.
Two shot/shot reverse shot
• This is when there are two people in one shot• When it shows the person that is not speaking
(listening) and swaps around during the conversation.
Low angle shot
• This is usually used when the person(s) is considered significant or good.
High angle shot
• This shot is used when they are trying to show somebody bad or weak.
