Erwartungen an Einsatz von CMC in Triebwerken
SiC CMCs can withstand temperatures greater than 1300°C
reduced weight (one-third the weight of nickel superalloys) for greater fuel efficiency
CMC components have greater durability and heat resistance and, therefore, require less cooling air than the nickel -based superalloys that currently dominate gas turbines and jet engines.
GE: temperature capability has increased 10°C per decade, with the introduction of CMCs, material temperature capability by 66°C in this decade alone.
