Diesel Systems Engineering Services The electronic vehicle systems are increasingly net- worked in order to fulfill the growing requirements on emissions, fuel consumption, safety and comfort. Different legal demands require various technical solutions. A rising complexity of the systems and the electronic control leads to rising demands on calibra- tion. We support our customers in reaching all require- ments with innovative solutions created in close cooperation of system, component and software development. With our comprehensive product and system know- how we realize a system-optimized calibration and transfer it to series production readiness. We accom- pany our customers’ development activities in regional technical centers and thus develop customer specific solutions tailor-made for the regional requirements. Task In calibration the functions in the control units are parameterized so that the optimal function of engine and vehicle is achieved. Furthermore, the cooperation of engine, injection system and exhaust gas treatment systems is optimized. Apart from classic PID controller based calibration we increasingly fulfill the requirements by applying model-based development and calibration. With Matlab/Simulink and ASCET we develop plant models for virtual tests of software and data. These virtual plant models are also used for function parameteriza- tion. We support our customers’ innovation through the development of custom-made functions. These functions are tested by integrating them into virtual test environments (LABCAR, Hardware in the Loop), and also by building demonstrators for the verification of the complete system on engine and vehicle test benches as well as under real-life driving conditions. Our competences comprise all fi elds of diesel-engine exhaust gas treatment, from diesel particulate fi lter (DPF) for all segments, via NOx storage catalyst (NSC) for the passenger car entry-level segment through to Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for SUVs, premium-class passenger cars and commer-cial vehicles. We optimize the complete system regarding fuel consumption, emissions and drive-ability.

We support our customers in the selection and release of components and assure their future strategy with the help of demonstrators and studies.

Calibration of electrifi ed powertrainsOur portfolio comprises the calibration of engine and vehicle combinations for conventional and electrifi ed powertrains, focusing on: Optimizing the control strategy and the energy

management Simulation, measurement and verifi cation of

emissions and fuel consumption Battery management system for high-voltage and

low-voltage batteries. Here we systematically use the experience from gasoline-engine applications.

Software development and integrationWe off er platform-based software solutions for all segments and markets. If required, we integrate third-party software or customer-specifi c functions which we also program according to customer specifi -cations.

With our service range our customers can use the entire portfolio for diesel powertrain calibration at Bosch.

Customer benefi tThe Bosch calibration service portfolio fulfi lls various requirements such as optimized expenses due to a reduced number of test vehicles, mastering highly complex calibration tasks, reducing development time, and the optimization of the complete system.

Classic project calibrationWhen an application is industrialized in a series project, we support our customers with project management, requirement management, data man-agement, system design and verifi cation, testing, quality assurance, and test drives. We ensure opti-mized emissions and fuel consumption of the engine by parameterizing all functions which are relevant for the fuel injection system. Our support and service portfolio also includes system and component consult-ing, release measurements, testing on engine and vehicle test benches, prototype buildup and modifi ca-tion, certifi cation support and training.

Powertrain calibration portfolioApart from the calibration of the fuel injection system we also off er the calibration of all relevant powertrain modules, described here as emissions calibration, air system, and exhaust treatment: Emissions calibration with the work packages

engine/vehicle basic function, engine protection, optimization of emissions and fuel consumption, rapid heat-up, torque monitoring and operating mode switchover.

Calibration of single-stage and multi-stage charging, high-pressure and low-pressure exhaust gas recircu-lation. Depending on the application we apply classic PID controllers or model based methods.
