We offer absorptive silencers or reactive silencers or a combination of absorptive and reactive type silencers depending on the noise level and the frequency domination. The silencers are designed acoustically and mechanically based on the flow rate, pressure, temperature, pressure drop and the required noise reduction.

The reactive type of silencer is usually cylindrical and it consists of partition baffles and flow tubes. The low frequency noise is attenuated by reaction in the

Engine Exhaust Silencerreaction chambers and thus these types of silencer are suitable for low frequency d o m i n a n t n o i s e . T h e absorptive silencer is usually cylindrical with concentric annular cylinders made of sound absorptive material, which absorbs the noise. We have designed, manufactured and delivered silencers for Diesel Generators of range from 15 KW to 20000 KW.

Turbocharger inlet silencers are provided to prevent the noise escaping through the inlet of the turbochargers. Turbocharger inlet silencers are usually of absorptive type. These silencers may also be provided with air filters.

Acoustic Enclosure is a room like construction built with acoustic panels supported by modular structural frames. The enclosure is designed acoustically and mechanically based on the desired level of noise reduction. The modular structural frames could be easily assembled and dismantled as they

are constructed as bolted structures. Acoustic panels are designed in such a way that it can be easily dismantled with the help of quick releasing clamps. This easily dismountable a r ra n g e m e n t fa c i l i t a te s e a s y maintenance. The acoustic enclosure is provided with airtight sound reducing doors as necessary. In order to view the critical areas of the machine, sound proof double glazed glass windows are provided. To take away the heat built up inside, ventilation air intake and exhaust silencers are provided with blowers for forced ventilation and the temperature r i se ins ide the enc losure i s guaranteed. For acoustic enclosure of

engine test beds, suitably designed sliding acoustic doors are provided for loading and unloading the engines on the bed. (In some cases the enclosure itself may be a spilt construction and individually movable type).

These silencers are provided for existing ventilation system or along with ventilation package. These are usually rectangular silencers with flat acoustic baffles.

Ventilation Silencers

Sound proof cabins are provided to protect personnel from DG noise. It is provided with sound proof double g l a z e d g l a s s w i n d o w s f o r monitoring. For ventilation purpose a forced ventilation system with air intake silencers, exhaust silencers and ventilation system blowers are provided. Alternatively, the sound proof cabin may be air-conditioned. We have supplied number of portable sound proof operator cabins for Turbo Generator / Turbo

The walls of the control room are acoustically lined with suitable acoustic material for the required thickness. Double / Triple glazed glass windows are provided for monitoring purpose. The room is air-conditioned or ventilation package is provided for ventilation purpose. We have designed to reduce the noise levels up to 55 dBA inside the control room and have achieved it remarkably.

Sound Proofing Of Control Room

Acoustic louvers are provided to inhibit the noise from openings such as those provided for ventilation. The construction of acoustic louvers are similar to that of any other type of louvers except that the louver blades are of acoustic material shaped based on acoustic design.

Four test beds for testing 1350 HP and 2600

HP engines were located side by side. To

load & unload the DG on the test beds, the

front side of the acoustic enclosure was

designed with motorized sliding twin doors

enabling the engine front-loading trolley to

move inside the test bed enclosure. The

roof loading arrangement was designed

with a motorized sliding panel on the

rooftop, which enabled top loading of the

engine from the rooftop using EOT crane.

Case Study

DLW, VARANASI

The engine exhaust system consisted of a reactive and absorptive silencer with the associated duct-work and acoustic insulation. Being a test bed, a very effective cooling system was designed to ensure evacuation of heat dissipated from the engine using a separate air washer based air handling unit. The control room sidewalls and roof were acoustically treated with acoustic panels and soundproof doors.

The whole system was tested and a noise level of within 85 dBA around the test bed enclosure and within 55 dBA inside the control room was proved to have been achieved.

AIPL supplied an Acoustic Enclosure for 1000 KVA DG

NTPC Noida. The noise level was as high as 103dBA. The heat

built up inside, if an acoustic enclosure is provided had to be

taken care of. We designed, manufactured, supplied and

erected an acoustic enclosure with a complete ventilation

package consisting of air intake silencer, air exhaust silencer

and ventilation blower. We guaranteed the maximum

temperature rise inside the enclosure to be within 5 C and we

achieved 2 C. We achieved a noise level within 75dBA.
