Structure of DiDAStructure of DiDA

• Core ICT (Unit 1)– Most students will study core ICT in Year 10. This will

provide you with key ICT skills in the main applications.

• Additional ICT – 1 option block (& Units 2 & 3)– Choosing this option will allow you to study three units of

ICT in Year 10.

• Additional ICT – 2 option blocks (& Units 2, 3 and 4)– Choosing this option will allow you to study four units of

ICT – three in Year 10 and one in Year 11.

AssessmentAssessment

• No exams! This is an entirely practical course

• You will be assessed by your E-Portfolios of Coursework (100%)– Marked by the class teacher and

sent to the exam board to be verified.

• We will teach you how to design and build multimedia products including animations, sound and video.

Previous coursework themes:

• Tell Me a Story - students created a multimedia storybook for a younger audience .

• Small Actions, Big Change – students created a set of multimedia products encouraging others to complete a certain action to make the world a better place

Unit 3 “Graphics”Unit 3 “Graphics”

• We will teach you how to design and create a variety of computer graphics using both bitmap and vector tools.

Previous coursework themes:

• Chill Out Here - students created a 3D chill out room (>).

• On your Marks! - students designed materials for a sports event to promote an Olympic-style tournament

Unit 4 “ICT in Enterprise”Unit 4 “ICT in Enterprise”

• We will teach you how to use ICT in order to help you plan an enterprise event.

• Students will work in groups on a joint project and will complete both individual and group documents as part of this

Previous coursework themes:

• Have Your Say – students created campaign materials promoting awareness of an issue of their choice.

• £10 challenge - students planned an enterprise to make as much money as possible from a £10 note.

• DiDA is ideal preparation for A Level courses in ICT, Business, Leisure, Media Studies or Graphics. It can also give you skills that will be of use in whatever subjects you choose to pursue.

• DiDA can help you to gain entry onto college courses in ICT or related fields.

• DiDA will help you to develop skills that will help you both in the workplace and in your leisure time
