• OurDiscoveryFairisayear-longprocess.StudentsfromEarly Childhood to fifth grade work on projects that allow themtolearnandapplyresearchtechniquesaspartofthe scientific method.

• The objective of Discovery Fair is to carefully observe the world around us and to try to find answers to our everyday questions. This curiosity leads us to take responsibility for our own learning.

. . . what our Discovery Fair is?

• Eachyear,theScienceDepartmentchoosesathemeforthefair.Forexample,in 2012 the topic was Incredible, Edible Food. At the beginning of the year teachers plan activities that will create interest Win the major topic. During this initial stage, students learn about the broad theme, define their specific topic of interest, and form small work groups.

• Theresearchprocessbeginsbyformulatingahypothesisorquestions.Thenstudents gather and organize information through note taking, surveys, interviews and graphs. Students then draw conclusions and share their findings with the school community during Discovery Fair Week in October.
