NOTE:= Suitable
(3) Provided surface is sufficiently flat.
(4) Prime with ARDEX ENDURA ADMIX Ad1.
(5) Direct fixing in dry conditions only.
SURFACE PREPARATIONBefore starting any work ensure that the
base is :
Sufficiently flat to permit the specifiedflatness of finished tiling, bearing in mind the
permissible minimum & maximum thickness
of the bedding material.
Suitable for tiling in the service conditionsto which it will be exposed.
Free from efflorescence, laitance, dirt andother loose material. Remove thoroughly
by dry brushing.
Clean: All tile and other non-porous surfaces
should be cleaned down by washing withwater containing detergent, then with clean
water.
SITE WORK INSTRUCTIONS
SURFACE CONSIDERATIONS
New Cement / Sand Rendering / Brick / Block
works:
Before commencing tiling, allow plaster surface
to dry out by exposure to air for at least 2
weeks. (3 weeks for swimming pools).
New Concrete Bases:
Before commencing tiling ensure that bases
have been allowed to dry out by exposure
to air for at least 4 weeks.
Existing Concrete / Screed Bases:
Cut out all loose or hollow portions and make
good with a 1:3 cement : sand mortar applied
over a slurry bonding coat*. Carefully remove
any soft or unsound residues of existing
adhesive without damaging the bases. Ensure
remaining adhesive residue is sound and firmly
bounded to the base.
Ceramic / Vitrified & Fully Vitrified Tile /
Terrazzo / Hard Natural Stone Bases:
Check that existing finish is firmly adhering
to the base. Remove any loose or hollow
sounding areas and make good with a
1:3 cement : sand mortar over a slurry
bonding coat*.*Slurry bonding coat is prepared by mixing 2 parts by
weight of portland cement to 1 part of ARDEX ENDURA
ADMIX AD1. Brush on the base immediately before applying
mortar. ARDEX ENDURA ADMIX AD1 dosage 10 litres per
50kg bag of cement.
MIXING
Add DIAMOND STAR to clean water. Mix
thoroughly until slump-free mortar is obtained.
A 20kg bag will require approximately
5 - 5.5 litres of water. The adhesive is
immediately ready-for-use and has a pot-life0
of 3 hours at 27 1 C.
In case of using ADMIX AD 1 : Use 1 litre of
ADMIX AD 1+ 4 - 4.5 litres of water + 20kg of
DIAMOND STAR
In case of installing of highly porous moisturesensitive tile/stone, apply the UNDER TILE &
STONE PRIMER on all the surfaces of the
tile/stone, except on the top surface using a
soft bristle brush.
APPLICATION
1. Spread not more than 1 sq m. at a time,
apply the adhesive to the wall or floor
surface.
2. Comb the adhesive to the required depth
(between 2 - 6 mm) using a suitable trowel.
3. Press the tiles / stones firmly into position
with a slight twisting action, checking
periodically that good contact is maintainedwith the back of each tile / stones. Leave no
voids behind tiles / stones when solid-bed
fixing.
4. Tiles / stones should be fixed within 20
minutes of adhesive being applied,
depending on the porosity of the surface
and atmospheric conditions. Tiles / stones
can be adjusted up to 15 - 20 minutes after
fixing. Touch the adhesive ribs periodically
and if a skin has formed, remove the
adhesive and apply a new layer.
5. Leave adequate joints between individual
wall and floor tiles / stones unless self
spacing tiles are used. Use ARDEX ENDURAspacers for uniform joint width.
6. Clean off surplus adhesive from the tiles /
stones face and between joints.
7. Do not use in damp conditions and0
temperature less than 5 C
8. Use suitable clamps along with adhesive at
the time of installation of tiles / stones at
height of more than 20 feet. If the tile /
stone size are bigger, use clamps from 10
feet height.
9. Leave movement joints at every 10 meters
height as per standard BS 5385 / IS 4101.
GROUTING
Grouting should not be carried out for at least
24 hours. Use the appropriate grouting
material from the range of cementitious and
epoxy grouts.
NOTE:The addition of ARDEX ENDURA
ADMIX GT1 to cement-based grouts will
enhance adhesion to tile edges, water-
resistance and improves flexibility.
