COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the program the participant should be able to:

• -

most recent published evidence regarding the use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs);

in Common Practice;

• Name and apply the current staging system for chronic kidney disease and understand its relevance to primary care practice; State and apply current understanding of the evaluation, treatment, and implications of acute kidney injury; describe and apply current understand-ing of the pathophysiology of diabetic kidney disease and the prevention, evaluation, and treatment options available; describe and apply treatment guidelines for hypertension;

• Recognize, evaluate and treat lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and overactive bladder (OAB) in men and women and identify when to refer patients with LUTS and OAB; de-

hematuria and recurrent urinary tract infections; apply current evaluation and management strategies for erectile dysfunction;

• presumed infection; recognize, treat, and appropriately refer patients with new “emerging”

guidelines for the appropriate administration of vaccinations in adults; describe and apply current evidence with regard to antibiotic resistance;

• evidence with regard to the eating pattern of intermittent fasting; state and apply current

supplements;

• Apply current evaluation and treatment methods for elderly patients with changing cognition; recognize and appropriately manage instability and falls in the elderly;

and achieve advance care planning; recognize and manage pain and non-pain symptoms in patients; describe and apply best evidence to the preoperative assessment and management of patients recommended to have surgery;

• Demonstrate current understanding of the pathophysiology and treatment options for osteoarthritis and back pain; summarize, evaluate and appropriately refer patients with

vasculitis;

• Describe and apply the current evidence on hormone replacement in women and men; name and apply the current strategies to evaluate and treat patients with hyperparathyroid-ism; recognize, evaluate and treat patients with complications of hyper and hypothyroidism;

and apply current evidence in the management of diabetes in hospitalized patients.
