Introduction

This course is used to educate the community on proper health in

preventiving diabetes.

The course will address the foundations of diabetes and how it is treated

(monitoring, insulin, and proper diet).

The course will address current statistics on diabetes and how stop

diabetic related events and deaths .

I will give sample plans on how to treat diabetes as naturally and

effectively without any harmful herb treatments .

This course will cover terms that are associated with diabetes .

This course is used to educate the community regarding diabetes care and

prevention .

I caution anyone that is not under Doctors care for diabetes management please

consult a MD or a ND before starting the course.

The course is used to reinforce education about diabetes, that is normally done by

a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)

I recommend that any supplements or education used in this presentation must be

presented to your primary care physician. It is best to let you doctor or

practitioner know of any kind of alternative methods, supplements, or herb

medication you are taking.

Combining some conventional medication with herbs may cause

adverse reactions, unwanted side effects, or death.

Medical Terms Endocrinologist - A Medical Doctor that has a specialty in hormone regulation

(diabetes, thyroid, sex hormones)

Diabetes Type1 – This a form of congenital diabetes or diabetes at birth.

Diabetes Type 2 – This is a form a diabetes that is adult onset. It is usually

manifested by poor eating habits.

Insulin – Is a hormone that is secreted by the pancreas at the time of digestion to

break down sugars for the use in your cells.

Ketones – Proteins in the blood

Glycogen – Sugars that are stored in the liver (60%-80%) of reserves to combat

low blood sugar .

Medical Terms ITG – Impaired Glucose Tolerance Test (same day test)

IFG – Impaired Fast Glycemic (Fasting Glucose Testing)

Neuropathy – Wasting away of the nerve system (numbness and cold)

Thrombus – Blood Clot

A1C – This test measure your glucose level from the last 3 months

DKA – Diabetes ketoacidosis (High Blood Sugar)

Glycemic Index – This is the spikes in blood sugar levels that are caused by the

food we eat.

Symptoms – The information you are telling the doctor

Signs - The physical elements that dcotor or practitioner may see, (Dizziness, lab

results, confusion)

Diabetes Type 1

Diabetes Type 1 is a congenital

disease that is present at birth.

It is a disease that is managed by

insulin and by proper monitoring by

a blood sugar machine.

Most babies that contract this disease

at birth usually have parents or

family members that have diabetes.

Out of 100% only 5% may contract

the disease .

Diabetes Type 2

This is adult onset diabetes that is

usually manifested by poor eating

habits, stress, and poor choices in

recreational activities (drugs).

Most ethnic populations such as the

Asian, Black, Latino, and Hawaiian

pacific just to name a few. This

may be due to our assessors and

current dietary habits .

Gestational Diabetes

Gestational Diabetes is a condition

that is discovered during

pregnancy .

This form of diabetes can be control by

either pills, insulin, and diet .

Most patients do not discover their risk

until their prenatal visits.

If you are pregnant make sure that your

doctor check your glucose levels .

Complications of Diabetes

Complications of diabetes are listed below

Strokes (caused by clots from poor circulation)

ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease)

Neuropathy (wasting away of the nerve ending causing numbness)

Blindness (due to bleeding behind the eyes)

decubitus (sores on the legs and soles of the feet)

Mood swings (this could be because of the insulin hormones and thyroid gland)

Liver Cancer(due to hepatitis and over working the liver to maintain blood sugar

levels)

Coma

Death

Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes

The signs and symptoms of diabetes

are as follows. Please note that

some patient show different

symptoms. Remember this when

caring for diabetics “hot and dry

sugar high, cold and clammy give

them candy (low) ”.

High – hot skin, hot flashes, blindness,

confusion, excessive thirst, fatique,

decubitus, anorexia, fainting, coma,

and death

Low - cold skin, excessive hunger,

confusion, headaches, shakes,

fainting, coma, death

Naturopathic Treatment When Addressing diabetes, it is best to treat

it with diet that do not raise the glycemic

index such as green vegetables, whole

grain oats.

Stay away from white bread, white flour, and

sugars. Acai , Cinnamon, and Golgi

Berries have been shown to reduce

diabetic events.

Get plenty of sunlight, fresh air, and pure

water (clean). This will rejuvenate the

body to heal and stay healthy.

Keep track of blood sugar level and ensure

your practitioner keeps track of status .
