Dienna Parret GervasiThis is a picture of Dienna hard at work; Italked to Dienna Saturday for just a few
minutes because she was very busy. She wasbubbly and glad to see me; she said Bonnie
Fish had stopped in to see her that morning.
I gave her a copy of last weeks newsletter
and said our goodbyes. I hope others
stopped in to see her, I know she was
looking forward to it.
Newsletter InformationI know I asked last week if anyone would
like to write a column for this newsletter, or
submit a periodic post to contact Ed at:[email protected]
I do understand that many of you still work, and have better things to do. This is for
those who would like an artistic outlet,
which you can spend as much or as little
time as you want in developing your owncolumn.
The following are two samples of what
could be your column, just change the
subject, and include your own photo or an
icon noting the subject your writing about.
Retirement Been there done that.
HobbiesI built this scale model of my boat from my
own design, prior to building the full size 18
ft. jet sled. Some of you may have seen it at
the fair 2 years ago; the boat is approx. 48
inches long, in the picture you can see theworking oars, fishing rod with a fishing realthat actually works, and a fishing net.
Everything accept for the fishing real was
hand crafted by me. Below is the same boat
in stages of building.
Logo designed by me, the word woody is in
the shape of a salmon tearing out of thewhite paint showing the wood.

I could go on with samples of columns that
you could be writing, give it a try. All you
have to do is write it in word or any otherword processing program, and send it to me;
I’ll do the rest.
Web Site InformationWhen you’re on the web site don’t forget to
look at the message board for informationfrom classmates, also check the “familynews summary”, recipes, and more.
On the main page of the web site, there are
three areas you can go to, to check your
classmates out; I find the best place to go is“View Class Directory” under the world
glob. Why? It’s easy to find, and with just a
glance it shows those that are missing,
diseased, and for those found it shows thecity they live in right off the bat; from there
you can go to their biography.
I’m still looking for photos from some of
you that took photos at the reunion, which
you can send me via email, if of course they
were digital. [email protected]
Note: There have been several classmates
found since our reunion, their contact
information has been added to the web site;
I’m currently waiting on 3 replies fromletters I sent out recently.
Please go to the web site and place your
vote, make your voice heard. I will run thepoll for one more week, and give the results
in the Aug. 29th
newsletter. The choices
below are in the same order as they are onthe web site pole.
1. A picnic held on Aug. 1st
every year
for the next 9 years, with a big 50th
reunion in 10 years.
OR
2. A picnic on Aug. 1st
for the next 4
years, a jet boat dinner cruse from
Grants Pass in 5 years, picnics onyears 6-9 and a big 50
th.
A POSTBy: Anne Worthley (McKay)
New Pledge of Allegiance
(TOTALLY AWESOME!)
Since the Pledge of Allegiance & The
Lords Prayer Are not allowed inSchools anymore Because the word
'God' is mentioned.....
A 15 yr. old Kid in Ohio wrote the
following:
NEW SCHOOL PRAYER :
Now I sit me down in
school
Where praying is against
the rule
For this great nation
under God
Finds mention of Him very
odd.

If Scripture now the class
recites,
It violates the Bill of
Rights.
And anytime my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter
now..
Our hair can be purple,
orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a
freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law
is precise..
Prayers spoken aloud are
a serious vice.
For praying in a public
hall
Might offend someone
with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must
meditate,
God's name is prohibited by
the state.
We're allowed to cuss and
dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses,
tongues and cheeks...
They've outlawed guns,
but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book
makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant
Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our
Senior King.. It's
'inappropriate' to teach
right from wrong,
We're taught that such
'judgments' do not belong.
We can get our condoms
and birth controls,
Study witchcraft,
vampires and totem poles.
But the TenCommandments are not
allowed,
No word of God must
reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must
confess,
When chaos reigns the
school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I
make:
Should I be shot; My soul
please take!
Amen
Just For Laughs
Attending a wedding for the
first time, a little girl
whispered to her mother,
'Why is the bride dressed in
white?'' The mother replied,
"Because white is the color of
happiness, and today is the
happiest day of her life." The
child thought about this for a
moment then said, "So why
is the groom wearing black?"

Joan’s husband Bob sent this email
for her classmates.
Thanks, Ed, and others, for your postings
remembering Joan.
Over the past year there has been a
tremendous outpouring of love from our
own community and beyond. Choral andBible theater performances, donation of
Bible books to our local library, and
memorial funds have all been dedicated in
her memory. I share, and invite you to
share, Joan's strong faith and belief ineternal life.
Joan loved our home and family, includingdaughters Amy and Kim. She loved our
community, serving for many years as a lay
representative to the Shepherdstown
Ministerial Association. Joan treasured our
community's Vacation Bible School, which
she taught and helped direct for many years.
She loved teaching adults and especially
children about the Bible. And shedocumented her methods in a book, a
wonderful labor of love entitled "That Ye
May Teach the Children" I still have copies
of her book for sale if anyone is interested.
Joan termed the last few years, when wetoured the country for her Bible talks, "the
peak of her career." It was a wonderful
time.
Joan had fond memories of Oregon,
including Winston, and Douglas High
School in particular. We had the privilegeof making a couple of quick visits over the
years and she was in touch with a few of
your classmates. Joan really enjoyed herhigh school years and I know she was
blessed by all of you who knew her. If you
have any special stories or comments about
Joan, I'd be glad to receive them via email
Wishing you and your classmates all the
best,
Bob Snipes

The following massage is so very
important, I want each one of you to
understand it.
The Parable of the Sower
1That same day Jesus went out of the
house and sat by the lake. 2Such large
crowds gathered around him that he got
into a boat and sat in it, while all the
people stood on the shore. 3Then he told
them many things in parables, saying: “A
farmer went out to sow his seed. 4As he
was scattering the seed, some fell along
the path, and the birds came and ate it up.5Some fell on rocky places, where it did
not have much soil. It sprang up quickly,
because the soil was shallow. 6But when
the sun came up, the plants were
scorched, and they withered because they
had no root. 7Other seed fell among
thorns, which grew up and choked the

plants. 8Still other seed fell on good soil,
where it produced a crop—a hundred,
sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9He
who has ears, let him hear.”
10The disciples came to him and
asked, “Why do you speak to the people
in parables?”
11He replied, “The knowledge of the
secrets of the kingdom of heaven has
been given to you, but not to them.
12Whoever has will be given more, and he
will have an abundance. Whoever does
not have, even what he has will be takenfrom him. 13This is why I speak to them in
parables:
“Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear
or understand.
14In them is fulfilled the prophecy of
Isaiah:
“‘You will be ever hearing but neverunderstanding;
you will be ever seeing but never
perceiving.
15For this people’s heart has become
calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with
their eyes, hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’a
16But blessed are your eyes because they
see, and your ears because they hear.
17For I tell you the truth, many prophets
and righteous men longed to see what
you see but did not see it, and to hear
what you hear but did not hear it.
18“Listen then to what the parable
of the sower means: 19When anyone
hears the message about the kingdom
and does not understand it, the evil one
comes and snatches away what was
sown in his heart. This is the seed sown
along the path. 20The one who received
the seed that fell on rocky places is the
man who hears the word and at once
receives it with joy. 21But since he has no
root, he lasts only a short time. When
trouble or persecution comes because of
the word, he quickly falls away. 22The one
who received the seed that fell among thethorns is the man who hears the word, but
the worries of this life and the
deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it
unfruitful. 23But the one who received
the seed that fell on good soil is the
man who hears the word and
understands it. He produces a crop,
yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times
what was sown.”
Remember two weeks ago in the
Newsletter, Issue No.7, I posted the
outline for the study of:
Matthew 7:13-14
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the
gate is wide and the way is broad that
leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 “For the gate is
small and the way is narrow that leads to
life, and there are few who find it.
You are my classmates, and in my heart
you are as close to me as brothers and
sisters.
