The Dhruvis a multi-role, multi-mission new generation Helicopter in the 5.5 tonne weight class built to meet
Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR). It is designed to meet the requirements of both civil and military operators.
The Dhruv is powered by two Turbomeca TM 333 2B2 engines with sufficient power margins for single engineperformance and CAT A take-off and landing capability. Use of two engines provide increased safety and allowscontinued flight till safe landing.
The Dhruvwith its hingeless main rotor system provides excellent handling qualities including good Nap Of theEarth (NOE) performance due to its high rotor moment capability and fast control response.
The Dhruv is ideally suited for rapid deployment due to its high speed capability. Its large fuel capacity enables longrange and endurance. Provision for fitment of auxiliary fuel tank enhances the range and endurance further.
The Dhruvhas been designed for both utility and armed roles. It has been designed to land on ships under high sea -state condit ions and on small / restricted helipads.
Dhruv is designed to provide a high degree of survivability which includes low radar, thermal and acoustic signatures. Extensiveuse of composites provides crashworthiness, battle damage tolerance, quick repair and reduced signature. The benefits of this rugged construction are:
xHigh redundancy characteristics xBallistic tolerance x Emergency Flotation System permiting pitching &xLow external noise xCrashworthy structure floating in the sea upto sea state 5/6

Lancer - A Light Attack Helicopter developedby HAL as an effective air mobile area weaponsystem. The basic structure of the Lancer is derivedfrom reliable and proven Cheetah (LAMA-SA315) Helicopter.
Cheetah - A 5 seater single engine ruggedlight weight and high performance helicopter, specially designed for operation over widerange of weights and high altitude conditions.A re-engined variant with TM-333-2M2provides enhanced performance at high altitude.
Chetak - A versatile, multi-role helicopter forcivil and military applications manufactured byHAL for both domestic and internationalcustomers. It is a single engine seven seater, highlymanoeuvrable helicopter and well suited for flyingover sea, in tropical and desert conditions.

An excellent performerThe history and growth of Hindustan Aeronautics
Limited is synonymous with the growth of Aerospace
Industry in India over the last 60 years.
HALs multifaceted capabilities encompass the entire
spectr um of aer ospace tech nology coverin g Design ,
Development, Manufacture & maintenance of aircrafts,
helicopters, aero-engines, accessories & avionics.
With 16 production units supported by nine co-located
R& D centres, HAL has expertise on a diverse range of
military and civil aircraft, providing self reliance to Indias
aerospace capabilities. All the divisions of HAL have
ISO9001-2000 quality system accredition.
HAL exports its products and services to several countriesand international aerospace leaders. HAL has proven
capabilit ies to offer collaborative arrangements for design,
development and production of components and aero-
structures with quality, reliability and cost effectiveness.
Design capabilities, manufacturing skills combined with
competit ive pricing, prompt deliveries and ideal location at
the cross roads of all aviation routes in Asia , make HAL a
valuable partner for challenging programmes in Aerospace
and related fields.
HAL has consistently been recognised by the Engineering
Export Promotion Council of India for its export efforts and
is a recipient of the Exporters Shield every year Since 1994.

The manufacture of helicopters in HAL dates back to 1962.
A separate division for the manufacture of helicopters was
established in July 1974. The Helicopter Division has
produced more than 600 Cheetah (Lama SA 315B) andChetak (Alouette III) helicopters till date. The Lancer - a
light at tack helicopter, derivative of the proven Cheetah has
also been developed by HAL and is in production .
The Dhurv is the la test new generation helicopter designed
and developed by HAL. It is under producton since 2002.
HAL also has a Rotary Wing Academy where ab-initio
helicopter pilot training is provided.
