Device OverviewBelow are potential devices that can be used for wearable devices or to teach circuits and systems. This in no way is a limitation to devices that youcan use for this project, but these are devices available through the ASSIST Center. Device Device DescriptionDevice IntegrationSensors/OutputPictureilypad Arduino!ily"ad is a set of sewable electronic pieces designed to help you build soft interactive te#tiles. A set of sewable electronic modules$including a small programmable computer called a ily"ad Arduino$can be stitched together with conductive thread to create interactive garments and accessories.% http&''lilypadarduino.orgComputer Sensor(Temperature(ight (TouchOutput(ight()ibration(SoundTI SensorTag The TI Sensor has a large range of sensors to help measure the surrounding environment. This is a great device for middle school or high school because it does not re*uire the device to be programmed. The app needs to be downloaded and Bluetooth turned on and then the students can beginseeing instant data and feedbac+ about the environment surround the sensor tag. Cell phone ,-ust download theTI SensorTag app,App does not wor+on .indows phones,Bluetooth must be enabled for tag to wor+Sensors(temperature sensor(humidity sensor (pressure sensor$accelerometer(gyroscope(magnetometer/aspberry "i A /aspberry "i is a microcontroller or in essence a very small computer. The wonderful thing about a /aspberry "i is that we can attach a slew of sensors to the "i and program it to generate the re*uired data. These systems are more complicated. -iddle school students can certainly use them, but they should have a bac+ground +nowledge of programming. Chec+ out raspberrypi.org for great ideas and uses(Computer(Can also use a computer monitor orC0 display to display data0epends on what you are wanting to monitor. Sensors do not automatically come with the +it, but can be orderedlittleBitsittleBits are a good introduction to circuits and some sensors. The nice thing about littleBits is that there is no programming involved, but you are still using sensors. (1one. Simply use the +it. S*uishy Circuits use playdough to create circuits. (1one Output-ight()ibrationSnapCircuitsSnapCircuits are a great way to introduce students to circuits and electronics. These are a bit rudimentary for high school students, but are wonderful for middle school. Students can easily understand what is happening in the circuit by creating and manipulating many builds. 1one. Simply use the +it.
