PROGRAMME TITLE: BACHELOR OF ARTS (B.A.) (HONOURS IN ECONOMICS)

The B.A. (Economics Honours) Programme with Psychology, soft skill, ability enhancement,

computer and integrated courses in foreign languages like French and German, are designed to

produce graduates trained in the application of knowledge in economics to real- life economic,

financial, ethical and analytical problems encountered in the economy. It is structured to

provide the students with the skills and professional acumen to become key players in the

economy irrespective of their future job places and task diversification they would take up. The

course may enable the students to apply effectively their knowledge and skills for policy

making, both in governance and industry.

The course has a rigorous focus on Quantitative Techniques and Research Methods which will

orient the student in dealing with economic problems and Institutions with a practical and

analytical approach. The diversity and the spread of the course ensure that the students receive

sufficient experience of the current issues and crises of the world especially that of the

emerging economies.

OBJECTIVES: The broad objectives of this programme are as follows: 1. To train the student in the fundamental theories in economics.

2. To provide skills in academic research and economic analysis.

3. To expose the students to the real world economic experiences through practical learning.

4. To develop the competency to design economic policies.

5. To produce holistically developed individuals. ELIGIBILITY: Higher secondary (10+2) in any stream minimum 50% marks. ADMISSION PROCEDURE: The admission will be done as per merit in the entrance test conducted by the university. SEATS: 40 (reservation as per state Govt. rules).

Caution money (Refundable) of Rs. 4000/- will be charged additionally in the first

semester. Alumni Fee of Rs. 500/- will be charged extra in the first semester. If a student repeats a paper(s) in a semester, an additional fee of Rs.500/- per paper

shall be payable. For NRI/ FN/ PIO Candidates, a fee of US$ 3500 Per Annum shall be payable on yearly

basis. They will have to pay a refundable deposit of US$ 500 once at the time of admission.

Hostel Fee and Central Library Fee will be extra.
