Hi!
My name is Lilly. I’m in my last year of high school….so my grad is coming up soon. I’m hoping that you can help me solve a few problems that I have.
Every year the grad committee always does a survey on whether or not the graduating class wants a theme for their grad dinner & dance.
This year we have 150 grads . In the past few years only 48% wanted a theme and 52% didn’t. How Confident can I & the grad committee be that this year will be different?
n= number of trialsP=probability of successµ= population mean
Formulas µ=np
= √npq
=Standard deviation
= √150(0.48)(0.52)= 6.1188
Standard Deviationn= 150
Meanµ= np=150(0.48)=72 nq=150(0.52)=78
Margin Of Error6.1188 × 1.96 = 11.99
Finding the 95% Confidence72 + 11.99 = 83.99 ≈ 64 Max.72 – 11.99 = 60.01 Min.(84, 60) grads want a theme
At my school we have only one night to buy our grad dinner & dance tickets. It’s going to take place tomorrow in the gym, after school from 3:30-6:00 then 7:30-9:00.
How many peopleGrads- 150Grads- 150

$ 70 × 150 = $ 10,500$ 70 × 150 = $ 10,500 $70 × 100 = $ 7,000$70 × 100 = $ 7,000 $10,500 + 7,000 = $17,500 $10,500 + 7,000 = $17,500 Total from grads/dates/guestsTotal from grads/dates/guests $ 17,500 $ 17,500
$ 40 × 75 = $ 3,000$ 40 × 75 = $ 3,000Total from parents $ 3,000$ 3,000
Total Profit$17,500 + 3,000 = $ 20,500 $17,500 + 3,000 = $ 20,500
Compare the difference if all the tickets were sold. 500 tickets in total.

With the grad dinner coming up soon we get to choose who we want to sit with.
There is 16 of us but only 8 people can sit
at a table.
So of course I would love to sit with my friends but….we kind of have a problem!
So I’m wondering how many different ways can my friends & I sit? Before we find out we need to know what the
formula is & what they mean.
Formula n! (n-r)! r!
Meanings n = the number of
objects that are available to be
arranged r = the number of objects that are being arranged.
! = symbol used for factorial notation
The Answer Is…….n= 16 r= 8
There is 12, 870 different ways that my friend & I can sit at the dinner.
This can be also written like this…… 16 nCr 8 = 12,870 different ways
See you still get the same answer.
CONVERITBLE HERE I COME!!!
The car that I have chosen is 2008 Saab convertible. The total price with tax is $55,000. My parents will make a down payment of $30,000 and the rest they are going
to get a loan from the bank.
The loan interest rate is 8.75% and it have to be paid off in 4 years. What is my parents monthly payments?
Formula Total price of car − down payment = present value.
Before we can find out how much they have to pay monthly we need to find the present value.
Now that we have the formula lets solve!
$55,000 − 30,000 = $ 25,000
The present value is $25,000
Now, that we know the present value we can find the monthly payments.
To solve this part we need to use our TI-83 (or higher) calculators because we need to use our TMV solver. How to get into the TMV
solver?! This is how…….. 1.) Apps 2.) Finance 3.)TMV Solver
Yes, once again we need to know what everything means…..
N=48 (12 × 4)I%= 8.75PV= 25,000→PMT=(you are trying to find this)FV= 0P/Y= 12C/Y= 12 To solve this.....you press
ALPHA then Enter
Your answer should be……… $619.16
Since we have the PMT now…we can find the total amount.
Formula PMT × N = total amount
$619.16 × 48 = $ 29, 719.68
The total loan in 4 years is $29, 719.68
