I am a headstrong, confident, ambitious and down-to-earth extravert with a love for the written word,

food, fitness and fashion. I am interested in the professional communications industry, the power it

holds in the digital era we live and most importantly the people that inhabit it. Ultimately, I am in pursuit of a future where my career and my passions can come together in a mutual bond such as on the editing team of a magazine or part of an

events coordinating PR firm. I’m willing to try anything once but would work best in an environment where I can utilise my social

communication skills and broaden my own abilities.

Personal Statement

Page 3: Developing my Professional Identity

As a confident social communicator, I am most interested in people; their stories, their cultures, their behaviour, their identities and everything in between. People are what make the world go round and it is their dynamic influence

through their social and professional communication both online and offline that I want to better understand. Nothing has ever intrigued me more than the

question of why behind the actions of many.

Whilst I am drawn to the intrinsic potential of today’s digital technologies, I still hold onto nostalgic notions of the written word and print publications. I am always looking to learn and as such, I intend to widen my scope of world

knowledge and cultural experience through continuous overseas, and local, travel. I also intend to continue expanding my practice within the areas of

makeup, fashion, food and fitness hopefully combining some of my interests with potential job opportunities in order to position myself within a career that I

truly love. Currently working as the head of communications for a Personal Trainer who runs her own business I draw a lot of inspiration from women in power and their increasing leadership within the workforce and aspire to one

day work alongside like-minded women.

Unfortunately, after completing an Arts degree at Melbourne University majoring in Media and Communications in 2013 I soon realized that I still felt underprepared

and unsure of my potential career pathway. This lead me to my current enrollment in the Masters of Communications at RMIT where I hope to gain a

more hands on experience, most specifically in the areas of editing and publishing, writing and PR communication.
