What is Redefining Africa – Ode Remo pilot

■ Redefining Africa is a development framework that allows African communities to initiative their own development.

■ It is a framework that allows the African community to redefine itself commercially and be equipped with international trading tools that would allow it to initiate its own development.

■ Redefining Africa will allow African communities to generate their own capital to ad-dress the SDGs and address their own development challenges.

7

Introduction

■ In 2015 the UN General Assembly formally accepted a new set of 17 measur-able Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ranging from ending world poverty to achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls by 2030.

■ These are to succeed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a set of eight measurable goals which were signed in September 2000.

■ This presentation describes how Africa Secretariat intends to apply the SDGs in Africa, starting with a pilot in Ode Remo.
