Dear families,
We are now in week 3 and have had such a positive start to Term 2, even with
huge changes that needed to be made quickly by teachers, from an online
learning program to at school face to face teaching.
I really appreciate that staff and students were able to safely to return to school in
week 1. This confidence has grown and students are becoming so resilient in the
morning drop off routine. We thank all families for their patience and their support
to keep our school safe. Please phone the front office if you need to contact or
speak to teachers.
The traffic on Onslow Road has been busier over the last week and we have had
6 staff in the area supporting students and families to get home. The exit gate is
the small gate on Onslow road to prevent students getting into cars that were
double parked.
Please remember to drive around the block rather than double park, children are
supervised inside the gates until their carer arrives.
The canteen has re-opened and we thank Jane for preparing our delicious hot
lunches in the cooler weather. All orders are on QrK. We are not accepting cash at
the moment. Our new uniform items, also on QrK have arrived and many Year 7
students have welcomed their new jumpers. Thank you to the student action team.
Jess Rogers has returned as Wellbeing Leader and Michelle Parker continues as
Deputy Principal for term 2. I thank them both for their continued positive influence
in our school community.
Our world has changed and such challenging situations can be overwhelming,
however we have developed new learning. My hope is that we soon return in a
respectful manner, to an even kinder world.
Kind regards,
Sue Wirth
Principal
M15 NEWS
This year the Student Action Team, Unit 3 and M15 formed a Recycling Committee with the aim of reducing the amount of litter,
mainly plastic food wrappers that is located around the school grounds. We have been doing our bit in the classroom by
working towards having nude-food-day, every day, reducing the single-use plastic packaging and placing our food in reusable
containers (that includes chips etc.) and eating healthy snack such as fruit and vegetables. Our food scraps are composted at
school, any soft plastic is collected and taken to the recycling deposit areas at the local supermarkets, drink containers are
collected for their 10 cent deposit and other recyclable materials are collected ready for the fortnightly Council collection. Within
the school, our class is responsible for putting out and collecting the crates for the 10 cent deposit containers and getting those
containers ready to be taken to the Recycling Centre. We are presently involved in the ‘Litter Legends Campaign’ where we
are working towards qualifying for a $500.00 Eco-schools Grant. To obtain this grant we are required to show that our school
is improving in some way with its recycling program. We chose, as our project, to weigh the waste paper collected from the
classrooms. Last Thursday was our first weigh in and we collected 12.9 kg of waste paper from the classrooms and the staff
photo-coping areas. Our task is to collect paper from the same bins on 6 more occasions, record our findings and see if we
can show a decrease in our waste paper.
We took photographs of the inside of our school bins and was shocked to see all this single use plastic thrown out.
How can you help our campaign?
Help us reduce the amount of plastic that comes into the school. Pack your child’s lunch in a lunch box and place snacks into
reusable containers (buy big packets of chips and place a handful into the containers).
Just a thought…’every piece of plastic that was every made still exists’…Refuse to buy food with excess packaging if
you can, Recycle packaging where possible and Reuse food containers if at all possible.
Thanks for helping our school
Step 1: Place 3 sheets of tissue paper on
top of each other
Step 2: Fold the tissue paper forwards and
backwards to make creases on the paper.
Step 3: Staple the sheets together in the
middle.
MAKING PAPER FLOWERS FOR
MOTHER’S DAY IN UNIT 1
Step 4: Round the edges of the flower
with a scissors.
Step 5: Very carefully, separate the
layers of tissue paper to make a flower

Step 6: Attach a stem and some leaves
