IT’S JUST A MATTER OF TIME. The time it takes toget out of the way of the deadly forces of nature. Technologyhas finally put the ability to detect and determine the distanceof a thunderstorm in the palm of your hand.THUNDERBOLT™ Storm Detector has the power towarn workers of severe weather... give them time to reachsafe haven and minimize the probability of injury.

THUNDERBOLT uses a proprietary technology todetect and determine the distance to severe weather, which is virtually always indicated by lightning activity. Acomputer analyzes the detected energy levels on thefrequencies observed and calculates the real distance inmiles to the storm activity.

In a fraction of a second, Thunderbolt displayswarning information on its LCD display. The distance to

storm activity, as well as the Estimated Time of Arrival(ETA), measured from the very point of user location, isdisplayed, along with storm intensity information. Storminformation is monitored continuously with 15 seconddata updates. Flashing LEDs and audible alarm providewarning in a variety of operating environments. A virtualweather station in the palm of your hand.

The wonder doesn’t end with detection. Just asimportant as ETA is Estimated Time to Clear.ThunderBolt’s LCD displays continuously the time untilthe storm clears the area for safe resumption of work oractivity, with the least downtime and maximumproductivity.

THUNDERBOLT helps you get the jump onMother Nature.

It’sallaboutsafetyandproductivity.

Here’s theinsideonThunderBoltThunderBolt™ Storm Detector

detects, identifies and tracksstorm activity sufficientlyintense to generatelightning within 60miles of theuser location.

Through the appli-cation of advanced

electronics and proprietary software, its high-sensitivity, single-channel receiver detectselectro-magnetic field emissions from light-ning activity within a storm cell. Thunderboltthen converts this data into digital signals and feedsthem to its microprocessor for analysis. In addition toidentifying the waveforms characteristic of stormactivity, Thunderbolt performs continuous analysisof background electromagnetic interference (EMI) atthe user location. This function is critical for minimiz-ing false-triggering from non-storm noise sources, and maintaining accuracy of storm data.

Upon detection, storm cell movements aretracked and continuously updated with approachspeed and ETA at user location, and displayed on its

2x16 text screen. Storm activity is also analyzed forthe presence of supercells or squall lines, and warningof these additional dangerous weather phenomena isdisplayed on the text screen, as needed.

SPECIAL FEATURES ANDACCESSORIESThunderBolt has two different levels of auto-

matic warning, audible and visible, which maybe programmed using the audible tone and redLEDs. This allows for maximum flexibility in awide variety of applications where differentwarning times are required. Thunderbolt oper-ates in excess of 75 hours on a single 9-volt

battery. A 120VAC low-noise adapter, a hard carryingcase, and a multi-purpose wall mount for permanentinstallation are also included in the standardThunderBolt package.

An additional, optional accessory system (availableby Summer 2001) is the Remote Warning System, which is attached to the ThunderBolt via the jack onthe rear of the unit. The Control Module unit (TB-CM1) can then activate a number of audible or visualremote alarm units.

Desk Mount (TB-A02) available April 2001

Allows the use of the ThunderBolt on a flat surface. Also includes mounting platform for theControl Module Unit from the Remote Warning System of accessories (see below). The deskmount allows the ThunderBolt to be easily removed for mobile operation.

Weatherized Wall Mount (TB-OJB01) now available

Same mechanical design as the standard/indoor wall mount, but molded from high-durabilityXenoy plastic to provide maximum life in harsh weather exposure/high- UV mounting applications.

Nylon Carrying Pouch (TB-C1) now available

A high-strength, snap-close nylon pouch that allows the ThunderBolt to be carried for a varietyof applications, from work-belt to backpack. The ThunderBolt is completely operable while in thepouch, with an opening for access to all controls.

220 Volt AC Adapter (TB-220) now available

Allows use of the ThunderBolt in areas using a 220 volt standard line voltage. (Note: check ontype/availability of connector required for use in a specific area.)

Remote Warning System available summer 2001

This system of accessories includes a Control Module unit (TB-CM1) which plugs into theExternal Speaker connector port on the back of the ThunderBolt unit. This module can thencontrol the operation of a number of remote Alarm Receiver Modules (ARMs) placed within thetransmission range of the base unit. Several different Alarm Receiver Modules will allow users tocustomize a system to the specific warning needs of their operating environment. The TB-ARM1 module provides a high-visibility rotating alarm light, while the TB-ARM2 moduleprovides a high decibel warning horn. Additional types of Alarm Receiver Modules are plannedfor future release.

AccessoriesThe ThunderBolt storm detection system includes a number of accessories designed to allowthe user to customize the technology for a wide array of applications. The standardThunderBolt utility package (TB-U1) comes complete with a 120 VAC adapter, indoor wallmount, and hard carrying case. The following optional accessories are now available, or scheduled for shipping in summer 2001:

TB-A02

TB-OJB01
