The Master’s Word
To the Brothers, Sisters, Friends, and Masonic Family;
To all the Snowbirds, I suspect you are glad you are down here in the warm weather. It looks like
Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction is true by the way the north has been getting battered with snow.
I would like to congratulate our three new Master Masons: Derek Cantre, Darrell Redden and Javier Joglar. These men were raised at a special ceremony at the Scottish Rite Center by the Scottish Rite Past Masters and the second half was in full costume.
Brother David St, John held a fund raiser for the “Seize the Moment” Charity, the fund raiser brought in
$1050.00 for the charity at last count. Mark your calendar for a Lodge event and fellowship on Saturday, April 1, 2017 called “Come Back to
Lodge 105”. It will not be an April fool’s joke, it will not be a work day, and we will not ask you to reach into your pocket.
I recently saw a flyer from the Masonic Information Center in Maryland, “What’s A Mason?” and it had
some interesting information in it. One point that stuck out as I have been repeatedly asked is “What’s a Mason?” The following is quoted from the Pamphlet:
“That’s not a surprising question. Even though Masons (Freemasonry) are members of the largest and oldest
fraternity in the world, and even though almost everyone has a father or grandfather or uncle who was a Mason, many people aren’t quite certain just who Masons are. The answer is simple. A Mason (or Freemason) is a mem-ber of a fraternity known as masonry (or Freemasonry). A fraternity is a group of men (just as a sorority is a group of women) who join together because:
There are things they want to do in the world There are things they want to do “inside their own minds” They enjoy being together with men they like and respect.
This also leads into what kind of public face do you have. How do you measure up and how would you ex-
plain this to another man. These are the questions you should be constantly pondering. Fraternally, Bill

Manly Movie Night!!
March 28th
6—9pm
Fraternal Greetings from the West,
As always I would like to start with a thank you to all the Brothers that came out to support the first work day
of the year in January. We accomplished more than planned and the building is looking better even after one coat.
Brother’s Darrell Redden, Ken Stone, Kevin Bush, Rick Vogt, Pete Loach, Rick Vogt, David St John and I spent 4
hours and were able to get about 75% of the building with one coat. We finished the painting on our February 18th
with help from Worshipful Masters DiVito and Wilson, Brothers Vogt, St. John, Cantre, Redden, and Burton.
Secondly, I would like to congratulate Brothers Javier Jogler, Derek Cantre and Darrell Redden to the Sub-
lime Degree of Master Mason. A large group of Brothers attended the Scottish Rite’s Past Master’s Degree on Feb-
ruary 4th to watch 11 new Brothers representing 7 lodges from the surrounding area join our ancient and honorable
Fraternity. It was a very memorable day filled with great fellowship and an honor to sit with so many distinguished
Masons in open lodge.
We have several events coming up in March. Our stated meeting nights will be on March 7th and 21st. Our
Lodge officers meeting will be on March 14th and I encourage all to attend not only Lodge officers but all Brothers
who have an interest in the direction our Lodge. The Lodge work day will be pushed to the 25 th due to The Pilgrim-
age Day on March 18th to the Masonic Home in St. Petersburg, FL. This is an awesome event and I encourage every
Mason to join us on this trip. There will be car pools leaving from Lodge and there will be more information and
coordination coming on all these events as we get closer at Lodge and through our Facebook Pages. Please come out
and join us. DeSoto is doing great things and we would love for more Brothers to come out and join in fellowship
and brotherly love being shared at our Lodge. I will leave you with these words by Brother Benjamin Franklin:
"Masonic labor is purely a labor of love. He who seeks to draw Masonic wages in gold and silver will be dis-
appointed. The wages of a Mason are in the dealings with one another; sympathy begets sympathy, kindness
begets kindness, helpfulness begets helpfulness, and these are the wages of a Mason."
Thank you Brethren and friends.

From the South
J.W. David St. John
Greetings Brothers from the South,
I want again to say thank you for all the support for the Junior Warden’s Fundraiser. We raised $1050 for
Seize the Moment Foundation for Epilepsy.
I want to congratulate the newly raised Master Mason’s Brothers Darrell Redden, Derek Cantre, and Javier
Joglar.
On behalf of the Senior Warden and myself, I want to thank Worshipful Masters DiVito and Wilson,
Brothers Vogt, Cantre, Redden, Burton, and Williams for painting the outside of the building for the Lodge Work
Day on Feb 18th. Donuts and Pizza were provided for everyone.
I also want to thank the Brothers who stepped up in my absence for the meeting on the 7th. I would like to
give you some advice--get your flu shots.
For pancake breakfast on Mar 26th, the blood mobile will be here again. As always, breakfast is free for
anyone who donates blood for the drive.
I would also encourage the Craft to come out and support our Entered Apprentice team who are preparing
for the Degree Competition on Mar 25th. They practice on Wednesday nights at 7pm. Also, anyone who will not
be going to watch the competition, are invited to travel to Ocala to see the George Washington gavel on display.
Keep an eye on Facebook for updates and times for these events.
Fraternally,
Dave St. John

Time for a little forgiveness
There are times when we feel we have been wronged. The sting is the same whether it was done on purpose or
by accident and quite frankly most times we do not know the intent of the person wronging us. As Masons, we should
make every effort to forgive transgressions. It is not important to seek out the person you are forgiving and let them
know. It is more important you do it in your heart so that you are not saddled with that burden.
Scientist and doctors have done studies regarding pent up feelings and have concluded that it can raise your
blood pressure, cause fatigue and otherwise affect your health.
Matthew 6:14-15 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also
forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Mark 11:25 and
when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive
you your sins.
Do not do it for the transgressor, because they may or may not know that they have wronged you. Do it for
yourself, it will help you move on. You will find it to be very liberating.
Oh, by the way, if you have wronged someone you can liberate yourself as well by owning up to it and apolo-
gizing. Many find this to be harder than forgiving someone that has wronged them but it is never the less as important
and will be a healthy thing to do. My father-in-law was a very wise and religious man; one of his lessons was, never go
to bed angry, it just messes up tomorrow.
My brothers, as always, if you are in need of prayer please let me know.
Fraternally,
Bill
